We had a really restful stay at this lovely little pub on the edge of a mill pond tucked away in a very quiet, wooded location just on the outskirts of Basingstoke. At the pub we enjoyed delicious food, including sumptuous breakfast, cooked to order. The accommodation is situated beside the pub and was very quiet, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. The room was large and the bed very comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities with complementary biscuits and bottles of water were also provided. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. We fully recommend this little gem as a really great place to stay when visiting the area. With breakfast included in the price, it is excellent value too.
Nothing.

Very clean, quiet room. The bathroom was one of the best hotel bathrooms I have encountered: everything worked, the water temperatures and taps were all predictable and worked well; one wall was an enormous heated mirror (no condensation); heated towel rail and lovely towels. Excellent. The bed was large and comfortable. In the pub, we enjoyed the breakfasts and evening meals, served to a high quality by friendly staff. We liked the well kept Wadworth beer at a reasonable price.
Nothing. All good.

My 6-year old son and I spent a birthay special night in the hotel an enoyed the tranquility of the location and the walk next morning along the river to Old Basing. The grand walk-in shower was also a highlight. Most of the inclued breakfast was not for me (can't have English breakfasts or sugered yogurts) but there was a tasty glutenfree scrambled egg on toast. My son was less happy with the strawberry yogurt, but ate it anyway.
As lovely as the place was I found the price of almost 100 GPB a bit too hefty for one night. There were two appartements in each block and it was not clear if we had neighbours or if they were out or in their rooms. Hence I locked the main entrance to feel safe (it was after 8pm), but then our neighours in the appartement next to us turned up and couldn't enter. They had to knock at our window. Perhaps this could be better organised.

We liked the quirky rooms, the large beds and bright clean bathrooms The rooms were close to the pub and a pretty location by the river Good selection of gluten free dishes in the pub Pub staff very hard working and friendly Good hot breakfast
We thought there should be hooks in the bathrooms, better lighting in the bedrooms and a more appealing courtyard where the rooms are located The food in the pub was average, over priced and portions on the smaller size ( exception was the fish and chips ) Cheese and biscuits, hugely over priced with two small chunks of basic cheese and a couple of crackers. Would like to see more vegan options on the menu

Tucked away in what feels like the middle of nowhere but easy to reach via the M3. Dog friendly pub and accommodation - proving a dog bed and bowl in what looks like an old stable block. Nicely decorated, warm and comfortable. Lovely meal in the pub. The weather was rather wet so we weren't able to enjoy their garden by the stream.
Nothing we didn't like. It had everything we needed.

Very nice property, friendly staff, very tasty full cooked breakfast, comfortable beds, spacious rooms and nice evening meal in the restaurant. It was very pleasant sitting outside in the sun beside the duck pond.
It would have been very helpful if we could have checked into just one room early. Some of our party of 8 had driven from Liverpool having been on an overnight ferry and others had taken a flight at 7.30am having worked a night shift.

Quiet location with a pretty chalk steam running by. The rooms were separate from the main pub in a small complex which looked like a barn conversion. Really quiet. Breakfast was very good. They catered really well for people with a gluten intolerance. We had 2evening meals in the pub and they were of a very good standard. Staff were friendly and very accommodating.
We would have appreciated an easy chair in our room as my husband suffers with his back. When I asked about it I was told that the tv was positioned in such a way that it can be viewed from the bed. As you get to your 70s this is not always the best way to relax.

So cosy and clean I. Our room. The pub was cosy The staff and the manager brilliant
The property was fine it was the food we had a problem with. The morning we left we had to wait 3/4 of a hour for the food and then it came out with other tables that were there after us. Chips were never hot just luke warm as the rest of the dinner. Sausages were white when they were on our plate , asked if they could be browned but they still came back white. No live yogurt or porridge. Would have liked more of a choice for healthy breakfast.

Spacious, well furnished, comfortable and clean
The only minor problem we had was that our room was ground floor and near the pub and car park - a pretty location, but we got woken up by lots and lots of noisy people as they left a wedding do very late / early hours - right outside our bedroom window (they all sounded very happy, but not what we wanted to hear in the middle of the night). If we stay again we will ask for a room away from the pub.
