Charming place to stay in from another era, the surroundings are equally unique with the combination of lakes and gardens that you will walk or cycle through. We found the facilities offered equally great with indoor, outdoor pools, spa, sauna, bicycles on site... Not many hotels will offer the whole combo. And at a competitive price. Excellent and friendly staff, we were able to choose the Junior suite we liked most upon arrival (instead of the one we booked). We recommend staying in the mansion rather than in the gardens rooms The food was a bit less exciting. Too classic perhaps or too limited a selection (Breakfast buffet) but travelling with our dog, we could not experience lunch or diner on site so our point here is specific

Nothing that we didn't like really. Just a few things that could be improved on the food/beverage side mentioned earlier. Frankly we find that this place deserves a better rating than the current score it holds of 8.4

The location is good and easy to get to by train. The hotel and grounds are beautiful. The room was super comfortable, spacious and lovely. I chose Tylney Hall because of the grounds, the hotel’s architecture was super appealing, the pool and spa facilities, and I was very happy when I arrived. There is privacy so you can just relax in your own world away and the staff at the same time are very nice and attentive. I will definitely visit again.

The placement of the room was a bit dingy and dark, and because I was by myself it would have been nicer a bit brighter. Though because my room was super comfortable and placed close to the facilities of the spa, gym and pool, I was not too fussed. The gardens are vast and beautiful, I think I got a bit lost and did not find a few of the spots, therefore possibly better signage or mapping. The ones I did see were beautiful.

The outdoor pool was lovely - a perfect temperature, not crowded, lovely views. Very attentive staff. Lovely breakfast. Majestic rooms, fantastic grounds and stunning old trees. We enjoyed the gardens, both walking and cycling in them. Very relaxing. Will definitely return and will bring other family members.

It was all excellent. However these things could be improved - we borrowed bikes which was lovely but they had to be mended by a member of staff before use and I still ended up on a bike with only one brake instead of two which did not feel safe. Our shower was temperamental with fluctuating temperature and flow of water. The indoor pool was too cold and the jacuzi was cold too. Our room looked over the car park.

We had one of the lovely garden view rooms, which was located at the rear of the hotel, overlooking the walled garden and rose pergola. The room was well equipped and very comfortable. All of the staff at the hotel were very friendly and efficient (for example, at dinner one evening I was struggling with a clogged up salt shaker and within 5 seconds one of the restaurant staff arrived to replace it). And thank you to the lovely young gent that drove us from our room to our car in the parking lot on a golf cart the morning of departure. The hotel itself is a lovely stately old mansion. The gardens and grounds are exceptional. A truly lovely and relaxing experience.

Three small niggles. For a luxury hotel don't do the following: 1 - UHT milk tubs. There are fridges in the room and surely you can provide some fresh milk. 2 - Anti theft hangers. They are annoying and I expect them in cheaper hotels. Who steals hangers anyway? 3 - The "Do not disturb/Make up Room" card kept being blown off the door by wind resulting in our room not being made up one day. Quickly rectified with a call to reception, but please find a better solution such as a magnetic door card?

Lovely location. Beautiful grounds. Reception staff were amazing, got us our room straight away. Room was very spacious and clean. We're very lucky with the weather and used the outdoor pool. The gentleman behind the pool bar was so lovely and always chatty. Nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing and the staff very attentive and lovely.

Could door with aircon in the room but provided a tower fan which was needed. Bathroom a little dated and shower very weak for someone with long hair and shower head wouldn't stay straight. Biggest letdown were bar prices around the pool. £27 for two medium wines ! 😱

It wasn’t overly busy, but we did do a Sunday to Monday stay. Staff were attentive. It was sunny. Staff by the pool were so good. Bar man too was really nice, think he said he was new to the area.

Nearly £20 for an alcoholic drink is ridiculous, pricing for food inside ridiculous. As a family of five, we actually booked a nearby pub which was a fraction of the price and tasty. I’m sure inside the hotel the food would be tasty but in this age there needs to be options but we did eat at lunchtime and that was reasonably priced at the bar. I do not like that the fact it is cashless and if you do pay by cash, they will not give you change.

Check-in staff were very helpful as we arrived very early before heading off for an event that didn't see return til late. The room was huge, fitted out very comfortably and had excellent tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast was a joy - lovely setting, excellent choices, waited service - which made a lovely change from the buffet breakfasts so common these days - and very attentive staff. And of course, the hotel is beautiful. Full of character, lovely grounds and very well maintained.

The only niggle was the shower. These days, one expects to have a decent deluge of water and with the shower over the bath, this was not the case. The bath was also quite high-sided and getting out after the shower was a bit perilous as it was slippery and there was no grab handle.

It’s absolutely stunning! Beautiful! The outdoor pool was glorious! The room was lovely, the staff were amazing, the grounds are breathtaking! We felt like we were on holiday! I wish we could have stayed longer! We will stay again! Thank you for the complimentary midday checkout too! The robes and slippers in the room- very comfy slippers!

The only thing that I would say is that the indoor spa could be improved- new sauna and steam - warmer jacuzzi etc. but we still used it and we loved the glass roof over the pool. It was just weird for the sauna to be in the changing rooms- so my hubby and I couldn’t sauna together and so we didn’t- I also enjoy the ice buckets to pour over the head whilst taking a sauna! Oh and the wasps! Too many wasps everywhere!

It’s definitely a great place to unplug from the city, felt a trip back in the past days. A royal venue! We were lucky with the nice weather so we enjoyed lunching outside and walking around the massive gardens. Lovely for a weekend get away.

Quite disappointed about the internal pool facilities. The pool is quite old, not taking care much, and the jacuzzi tub very small and the water was very cold! Not much personnel around the pool, so it’s very self service in terms of towels and keep it clean. Disappointed to find out the sauna were inside the changing room, a very dark room, no light in it, where you felt very claustrophobic. The outside pool in better condition, not as big as pictured, however still very cold water and quite dated.

We were attending my cousin's wedding anniversary with family. A fabulous place for celebrating. Lots of car parking, easy access to the library, 2 terraces, dining room & gardens. Everywhere beautifully attired. Food was excellent, however breakfast was a bit chaotic on Sunday morning: everyone seemed to arrive at once. Bedroom was a fair distance from reception but very quiet and comfortable. Did not use either of the swimming pools.

Breakfast organisation: some people had to queue in the corridor before getting a table, not quite what you'd expect from such a prestigious hotel.
