The head gardener has to take a lot of credit, and those working for them. The gardens which are very varied are outstanding. The main building is a gem and also exceptionally well and tastefully maintained. Even if your taste in late Victorian architecture is not there you will still marvel at this gem. The rooms in the adjoining stables are very comfortable and well appointed if you chose not to stay in the main building. The members of staff are helpful and polite. Stayed 2 nights and would have happily stayed there for at least two more.

The add-Ons are a tad irritating mainly for meals but also room upgrades. Service at the bar (food) was pretty slow; and the main restaurant is a bit particular about pre-booking. Turned up at the main restaurant when it looked quiet and was informed they couldn’t accommodate us. Oddly enough around 15 tables were empty at that point and stayed like that till closing. The restaurant’s loss. They seem to have strict rules. If you want to dine there it would seem to be best to prebook as recommended by staff on check-in (Sam) who are friendly and helpful

Very quiet and peaceful. Being on ground floor with aircon during hot spell was a boon. Bed was very comfortable and facilities very good. My husband and I have disabilities and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. Fantastic choice at breakfast in a very pleasant conservatory. Grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We can understand why it is a popular choice for events. Loved the booklet detailing the hotel's history too. We managed to get a disabled parking spot in the car park despite there only being two.

Nothing really. The conservatory was a little warm but we were having a heatwave.

The building and surrounding grounds are absolutely stunning, and the interior décor of the main house is of museum quality. We stayed in the stables during this visit, but will definitely choose the main house next time. The staff were exceptionally polite and helpful throughout our stay. Even the maintenance team took the time to greet us, which we found to be a particularly professional and welcoming touch. Our room was clean and comfortable and refreshing to see sufficient power sockets for charging our devices.

We did notice that one of the forks at dinner had not been properly cleaned, which was a minor disappointment, however when we reported it, it was quickly dealt with.

I loved the bedroom number 109, the bathroom was very nice, the bed very comfortable, the room view over the gardens was perfect, I originally was given a stable room but upgraded to in house, staff on reception were very good.. The bar is beautiful and lovely people serving. I ate a lovely vegan burger, very happy to see that on the menu.

Room 109 bathroom door very squeaky and during the night if one of us went to the toilet it woke the other up with the loud squeaking opening and closing of the door and it spoiled both our sleeps and we were both so tired by the time to get up because of broken sleep. I did mention to reception on check out that it needs oiling..

The grounds were spectacular, we had a wonderful stroll around after dinner. The hotel was very clean, the staff were attentive and the room we stayed in was phenomenal. I came here for my birthday and I had an amazing night away and we have already recommended this hotel to our family.

The only downside I found was that the fans in the room were very dusty and there was not enough milk in the room to make more than 2 drinks. Also possibly 2 bottles of water put in the fridge for our stay would have been thoughtful as 2 people were staying in the room.

Outstanding Beautiful grounds which could do with a bit more outdoor dining seating area experiences especially as the weather gets better and with its easy location's it has a lot of potential with Exemptions service by Naman who from the three visits I have had and attended an end of year work party has always been hospitable and gone above and beyond delivering service . Jo from the reception gave a lovely welcome and first point of contact and so was Tom .

Some staff lacked training and upon serving the afternoon tea didn’t offer top up of hot drinks neither having any sort of communication when they brought the cake stand . It was more of placed it on the table and walked away and upon requesting for tea top up the staff asked I was sure I wanted the top up and made it sound as though I wouldn’t be able to pay for it

Depends what you look for in location - it is out of the way, but not by much. The setting that the hotel is in is amazing, The grounds are stunning as is the hotel. If you have a pet, you can ware them out just walking around the extensive grounds. Morrisons and good pubs are close by if you are looking for food away from the hotel. We did not eat at all in the hotel.

Note this is a wedding hotel. On our recent visit they had 2 weddings, but as we stayed in the stable block the noise didn't impact us, but worth bearing in mind in case you go for a quiet break.

Stunning gothic revival building on the site of a genuine Elizabethan manor where Henry VIII courted Jane Seymour. Packed with portraiture and drenched in detail. A treasure

I got an amazing deal on a Sunday night in January - a great time to visit a top hotel because it’s quiet. But they do try to upsell you quite hard and the food was tasty but priced on the high side for quite simple elegant but cheap to prepare dishes. It must cost a lot to run a place like Elvetham and I probably couldn’t afford it any other time; the people who can would not necessarily be concerned about the food prices I guess

We really loved the character of the property, the restoration is done to the highest quality, all of the reception rooms on the ground floor were absolutely gorgeous! Even the washrooms, beautiful. Especially loved the conservatory which was beautiful painted wood, everything such high quality, overlooking the courtyard gardens which had festoon lit paths in the evening. Wonderful gardens so well maintained, wonderful staff, absolutely fabulous food and we really felt we had incredible value. The building itself is just so lovely to explore, gorgeous picture windows. Extremely comfortable sofas everywhere, it all felt very luxurious. Heating in room easy to control, we stayed in the Autumn so it wasn’t too hot. Wonderful 5k walk across fields with countryside views, bring wellies if out of summer season to enjoy it to the max! Autumn trees sensational colours everywhere. Thank you so much to all the staff for giving us such a fantastic weekend!

We loved everything, couldn’t fault it at all

We attended an outdoor performance of Hamlet here over the summer, and thought to ourselves, “How is it we’ve never visited before? We drive past The Elvetham every week!” So, for our 21st wedding anniversary, we finally decided to stay for the night — and what a wonderful choice it was. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like celebrities. The staff made us feel incredibly special, and the grounds were simply stunning, perfect for a peaceful autumn afternoon stroll. Everything was beautifully maintained and full of history. It’s amazing to think that royalty once stayed here hundreds of years ago.

The shower in room 163 (not the en-suite, just the shower) was a bit cramped.
