Room was ok for the cost. The bed was very comfortable and bed linen was clean and crisp.

Bathroom door kept coming open I presumed due to the sloping of the door. The hotel is more like a B&B to me than a Hotel. It is very tired and could do with a spruce up. The breakfast was very basic and nothing to get excited about. The bread was basic supermarket bread, there were no croissants or similar. The Buffet English was not exciting or other than cheap supermarket ingredients. The bacon was burnt and I like my bacon well done but far too well done for even me.

The hotel is about a 25-minute walk from the station—mostly flat and easy to navigate. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, but I was even more taken aback by how stunning the building is in person. Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed by the host, who provided all the check-in details with care and kindness. While I usually prefer accommodation with air conditioning, I requested a fan and was pleased that it was provided without issue. To my surprise, the property stayed cooler than expected, especially for a historic home. The bed was incredibly comfortable, with clean, fluffy towels and plump bedding. Though the room is on the smaller side, it’s charming and well-designed, with the TV perfectly placed for viewing from bed. The shower was reliably warm, with a steady water temperature throughout my stay. The hosts made me feel very comfortable using the guest area, even encouraging dining there when food service wasn't available on Sunday. They also offered helpful recommendations on local sights to explore, including Whitewater Meadows. Sainsbury’s is just a short walk away, adding to the convenience. With breakfast included, I truly think this stay is a hidden gem and excellent value for money.

I would have liked better black out blinds as I prefer to not have any sunlight come in during sunrise

I had a single room on the top floor with a small double bed which was so comfy I tried to check what mattress brand it was but there was no label! It was a charming old house, and the owners clearly love having guests to stay. Quiet location. Great buffet breakfast with good coffee. They do Artisan Pizzas in the evening and there's a small bar onsite. Also a Sainsbury about 150 yards away. I would definitely stay here again. Ideal location for Guildford or Basingstoke.

The single room was in the eaves so not recommended for tall people. Just book another room as it's worth staying here! Bathroom was a bit tired but spotlessly clean and functional.

A very relaxed stay. Staff are friendly and helpful. Having dinner and a glass of wine in the lovely garden on a Summer's evening was definitely a bonus - the pizzas are freshly made and delicious. Buffet breakfast good and timeframe for serving meant not getting up too early. All in all a very pleasant and comfortable place to stay.

General decor could do with a bit of updating but this does not really detract from the overall positivity of the hotel.

We booked 2 rooms, both were upstairs and of a reasonable size. The beds were very comfortable. The tea/coffee facilities were excellent. The bathroom was adequate, bigger would have been better. Car park was good and signage to the hotel was also good. Breakfast was of a good standard, plenty of it with local sausages and bacon. The host was very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Made us feel at home and wanted.

One room was fine but my son had a room that was noisy because of the water pipes. Being in the eves the rooms were hot. The wardrobe was filled up with an unnecessary ironing board, leaving little room for clothes.

This is a lovely old property, bit quirky with random doors blocked off etc., there was plenty of parking and useful notes about places to eat locally etc. Excellent WIFI. We had a King room and bed was HUGE and super comfortable. We were welcomed by a lovely lady when we checked in. Breakfast was a kind of self serve thing - no one was about so we just went in and helped ourselves. Tea / Coffee. A couple of cereal options. Toast and some cooked breakfast options. All was good - just a bit weird we were kind of on our own. Plenty of hot water for the shower in the morning. Lots of communications about check in etc via email.

There was a fair bit of visible black mould on the ceiling in the bathroom - we were only staying 1 night so it didn't bother us but would have done if we were staying more - the extractor fan was not working in the bathroom. It is an old property and maybe hindered by listed status? but the rooms could have done with a bit of TLC.

Great location, lovely old house, super breakfast. I only stayed for one night in a superior single room, the room was at the top of the house, big enough for single occupancy and very clean, the bed and pillows gave me an excellent night's sleep, The buffet breakfast was great served in a light and airey dining room. Excellent value for money.

Some aspects of room maintenance could be improved, small items, nothing significant, a damaged window frame for example. But not enough to stop me staying again.

The property is set back from the road surrounded by gardens, it included a private car park and was located within walking distance of the main town area. Breakfast was included in the rate, which made it very good value. We stayed here because it was only a short drive to Stonehenge in the morning.

We stayed here on a Sunday, which meant the restaurant was closed . . . we knew this when we booked, so not a negative for Hook House, we walked to a local pub where meals were available.

Breakfast was nice. We liked the self service aspect. Room was fine, we were travelling from Gatwick, following our holiday. We arrived late, but had no problem accessing our room. Bed was comfy and shower large and easy to use.

Luggage wasn't easy to get upstairs. No lift. Might be a problem for those less able. A few minor things were broken around the room/hotel. No real problem, but need fixing

The building was grand although it could do with a bit more TLC. The room was a good size, well equipped & comfortable. It was tastefully decorated too. Again parts of it needed a bit more TLC.

The bathroom although clean & a good size, had mould on the ceiling. The fact that the extractor fan didn’t work probably made this problem worse. The buffet breakfast was cold & the choice of cereal was limited. There was hardly any interaction with staff. Not even when checking out.
