So nice to have a well-proportioned bathroom and the shower was superb. All the usual facilities plus the sloe gin was much appreciated! A separate drawing room for guests was a very welcome surprise, very airy and comfortable, and free whisky to drink! The menu had a good selection and the food was delicious. A very pleasant 2-night stay.

Sunday was very busy in the restaurant and outside, a hot day and when we came back we had difficulty getting to the bar. A bit too noisy for us but we had the option of the drawing room and it proved to be an inspired choice. We relaxed in cool and quiet splendour with a bottle of wine, so in hindsight we probably had the best of it!

The staff were friendly and welcoming. Check in was straightforward and the room was clean and spacious with en-suite bath and shower. The TV worked and there was a Nespresso machine and free biscuits every day of our stay. We ate dinner in the hotel on both nights of our stay and the menu was interesting and the food well cooked and nicely presented. Breakfast was cooked to order - always better than a buffet.

The car park was small, but we always found a space so there were no problems for us.

I like the pub and thought the room was very comfortable despite being so sloppy 😜. The food was very good with an imaginative edge - nice, good quality! Would have loved a piece of fresh vegetable and cheese for breakfast but then - I am continental!

One part of the headboard needed steam cleaning or replacing 🤔 and I think the atmosphere in the dining room in the evening was not so nice - I think the lighting is not great: with the mirrors some light reflected and blinded somewhat and the focus of light is not on the tables which makes it a not so easy to see what you are eating and makes the atmosphere less intimate!

A lovely old property with lots of interesting features. Rooms are adequately sized. Staff are very nice and very friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and very nicely cooked and presented. Some nice touches such as complimentary whisky for guests in a communal sitting room.

Our room was on the front of the property with a very busy road which cannot be helped. As it was a very hot night, we needed to open the window but were awoken early hours by heavy Lorrie’s passing through.

Great food. Lovely friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful quirky old Inn with a great atmosphere. Lovely room, fresh white bed linen and towels. Complimentary coffee sachets, chocolates, and a delicious sloe gin. The staff were very apologetic when requested the couple of items which were missing from our room and they dealt with it immediately.

Information folder missing from our room. No tea bags in the room. Extractor fan in toilet/shower not working and a dusty cobweb hanging from it. Three small tiles in shower tray came off when used. Our room was very quiet, overlooking the kitchen garden, however our sleep was disturbed at 2am by residents returning to their room next door to ours, opening and closing doors and the plumbing and extractor fan noises from the bathroom.

Location was beautiful, staff very attentive, room was full of character with wooden beams, overlooking the garden where they locally grow their own veggies, but also very cottage like with beautiful flowers. The bed was huge and super comfy, so much so we checked where the mattress came from. Food was gorgeous and not one thing was wrong. They provided Sloe Gin in the room that you could help yourself to (but careful, it blows your socks off) and a games room upstairs where Whiskey was free too and chess or draughs were available, loads of books, moody lighting, big comfy chairs and blankets if your cold. 10 out of 10 and will definitely go back 5* rating absolutely well deserved 👏

This is a gorgeous pub-style guesthouse. The room was a nice size and very clean. The gin in the room was a lovely touch! Breakfast was really generous and delicious. We ate dinner there twice, again this was really good. We had a baby with us and the staff were really helpful with heating bottles, etc. Great location for visiting the Downton Abbey house!

We had the downstairs bedroom, which was a lovely but there was a lot of noise from banging doors in the toilet and office. We did mention this to the staff there, seems like it could be addresses with door stoppers or softeners.

We chose hotel due to location in village. However the hotel and staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel itself was great. Good bar and fair restaurant. The staff had gone the extra mile, the drawing room for guests has to be seen...and used.

No major complaints. The village has a bit of through traffic early in morning..so a bit noisy.. but that is hardly down to the hotel. Ask for back facing room if you feel it could be an issue.

Lovely old building with beams in a quiet village, thoughtfully decorated which made for a very enjoyable dinner and stay. Staff friendly and the dinner was absolutely fantastic. Everything was really delicious Room clean and comfortable and very peaceful. Such a nice touch to have sloe gin in the bedroom and whiskey in the guest lounge. Loved the books everywhere.

We couldn’t park in the car park but found a space nearby. No one at the desk to check us in when we arrived, but minor points.

The decoration is lovely, there is a common room with books, games, whiskey which was cozy. I can imagine this place is lovely in winter too. Being above a restaurant is a plus too - but it is not too loud. Comfi beds, great breakfast, lovely staff that gave us some recommendations in the area.

There were only a few parking options, which (only once) meant awkwardly parking my car and a bit more agility driving out again (which I guess is good practice ;)). Room was a bit small (just enough space to walk around the bed).
