Location was ideal for us, meeting family in Baughurst. It's on a minor through road to the main Basingstoke/Kingsclere/Newbury A road, so is convenient for those locations aswell. Restaurant and Breakfast were superb. Friendly staff and the pub itself has lots of character and a massive garden. Accommodation very comfy and was certainly clean.
Very little. Room 1 is a little noisy with the connecting road first thing (absolutely quiet other times) - and the tea/coffee was lukewarm at breakfast. Poss the age of the equipment being the reason for the latter!. But that didn't detract from the superb cooked breakfast (and we felt on that basis cherlish to mention). But as we are prompted for negatives.......

This is not a swanky 5 star hotel but you probably would not get better service. We arrived late into the evening (gone 10pm) but had a warm welcome and the bar was open. We were escorted to our room when we were ready and had a great sleep. The room was basic but it was clean and had touches that some more expensive places don’t provide (kettle, biscuits & soft towels). To have a cooked breakfast, unlimited tea, coffee, juices and cereal all within the price made it an even better experience. The pub is family run and very welcoming. It is so rare to visit a pub or hotel and think that you would have been willing to pay more but this is one place.
The outside of the pub could do with a little TLC

Friendly staff. Clean and spacious twin bed room as expected. Comfy bed and hot shower were just superb after hours of driving. As we did not make a prior reservation for dinner on Saturday evening, the staff kindly suggested us to come back after the busy hours and offered us a table at around 8pm. Excellent food for both dinner and breakfast. Tranquil environment and relaxing atmosphere. Ample free car parking spaces.
The sunblinds in room 5 was out of order. Perhaps that was why we could find a cloth, which fitted the size of the window well, in the wardrobe to block the daylight. Haha. Nevertheless, it is not a problem to us.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was small but lovely and clean. No Aircon but it had a fan. Nice decor. Breakfast was the best I've had!!Help yourself to cereal etc and order hot breakfast, it was presented lovely and was very tasty.
Although not their fault, there had been a burst water main up the road!!! So I would have appreciated an email to warn us because we had to take a long detour to get there as the road was closed and was then told that they had no water. We only went 3 hours with no water so was able to shower in the morning!

The staff at the George and Dragon were exemplary! They were real people, down to earth, friendly, accommodating and chatty! The location was great and the pub food was excellent...I loved the quiet of the outdoors and the building clearly has history, and out in the country I can park my motorbike overnight without fear. Before I heap praise, I'll say now quickly, that the only thing slightly off about my whole visit was that room 1's window wouldn't close and in the evening it got a little chilly which was only saved mildly by the fact that the central heating was on. But... ...stupid me left his motorcycle documents in the room, didn't he? When I contacted the staff they found my documents and within 3 days had them posted Special Delivery back to me at no charge! I can't thank them enough for that! Splendid location, great staff, lovely food and beautiful, tranquil peace and quiet! Recommended especially for touring bikers like myself... ...just bring a side stand enlarger for the gravel carpark!

The place is lovely, very clean and comfortable. The rooms are quaint with lots of character. The decor is really lovely and in keeping with the original building. The pub has a lovely open fire and a very friendly atmosphere. The toilets are lovely and well maintained. We ate here the two nights we stayed and the food was well presented, well cooked, and good quality both nights. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast choice was good and again the food was good quality. The first night, there was a great duo of musicians, and they really made the night enjoyable. The staff are excellent and attentive. The room we stayed in was really comfortable with good quality bedding and towels. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and nicely decorated. There are tea, coffee, and biscuits in the room. The place is quiet as the rooms are a short distance away from the main building. There is plenty of parking.
There was very little that we didn't like. A few small suggestions - the bathroom had bubble bath but no shower gel, though we had our own, so it wasn't a major issue. Checkout time of 10am might be a bit early for some.

A lovely clean room, with a massive comfy bed. Nice smaller touches such as an amazing fan, usb sockets in bedside lamps, suitcase shelf. Lovely view from our room. A good choice of breakfast, from cereals to the full English cooked breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff.
The shower could do with a shelf for toiletries and a couple of hooks in the bathroom would be helpful. Our room smelt quite strongly of paint on arrival which only faded when the windows were opened. Also the door was quite difficult to open and shut.

Nice country pub with clean adequate rooms. Bit isolated but roads are adequate although very dark at nights with no Street lighting. We had an issue with the heating on first night when we arrived about 10pm. Spoke to staff in bar who had it sorted in 15 minutes. Plenty of choice at breakfast with cereal, yoghurts and juices. Cooked food was adequate but not as much as Yorkshire folk are used to. Didn't use evening food menus as we were at a wedding venue for meals. No major problems although room 1 could do with a towel rail in bathroom.

The room was lovely with plugs and USB ports right next to the bed. Lots of lovely soft towels, we didn't try the shower. Good size TV in the room.
Whilst asleep, every time we moved in bed, the bed squeaked and made lots of noise and woke both of us up many times. Also hubby struggled with the door lock (was shown how to unlock & lock door by staff) and I could NOT unlock or lock to the door. I did feel this was a Fire risk/HS. I would of mentioned but their wasn't the opportunity on leaving, wish I had been able too though.

Stayed overnight with my Mum who is mobility impaired. We arrived later in the evening after an awful trip round the m25 and the staff couldn't be more accommodating. The lovely lady who tended to us when we arrived (blonde, can't remember her name sorry :-( ) was so helpful, showed us to our rooms and recommended driving cars up to park outside our rooms, especially to make it easier for Mum in the morning so she didn't have to walk as far. We had a meal in the pub which was delightful, I had ham egg and chips and mum had sausage and mash (with peas which is always welcomed! ) dessert I had roulade which was DIVINE! Even though we arrived late we didn't feel rushed at all. We had breakfast the next morning which was included in our stay, the lady serving us in the morning was absolutely lovely, atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. She even gave us a bag to take away our pastries! Have saved this for if we are ever over that way again as we would definitely return, so much nicer to support local especially off the beaten track. Would recommend the deluxe rooms to anyone with mobility issues eg getting in and out of shower as they are walk in showers, my mum has osteoarthritis but can walk short distances and stand for very short periods. Beautiful surroundings and very quiet. Price was exceptionally good value. Thank you so much for a lovely stay!
The only thing I could complain about would be the bed, I had a standard room and the bed was very creaky which woke me up every time I turned over (see photo). This could easily be rectified by staying in a deluxe room if I was staying again as this is what my mum had and her bed was very comfortable in comparison. I don't think it would bother anyone who is a deep sleeper or does not move much in the night! I'd definitely choose a deluxe room if staying again or staying more than one night.
