Nice warm friendly little pub, in a quiet area. Staff very helpful with any questions asked. The regulars inside were welcoming and chatty and also answered any questions positively and honesty. Although they don't serve food, they're are the usual online delivery companies that will deliver to pub. This suited me because of the nature of my work. If fancy something more simple you may use the microwave in the kitchen, cutlery and plates can be provided to make the meal more homely. My personal preference of tap lagers are on offer so was happy, are other beverages on offer to choose from. Location is in middle of Newbury and Basingstoke with A34 and M3 not too far away. Many thanks to Karen and Oliver.
Nothing.

Nice location in traditional British Village. Old style property that feels like you're staying in the mediaeval times. Had a decent desk for working. Good local amenities.
Water pipes very noisy. TV very small and poor signal. Sound from pub can be heard loudly in room. But for the price this wasn't a big problem, and it's partly because it's an old building, which has its problems but is also fun to experience. A new building wouldn't have these issues but also wouldn't have the same character.

Hotel was close to our venue, we booked here for two nights originally, and then decided to book another night. So we would have to change rooms. On arrival the lady on duty sorted us out to stay in one room throughout our visit.Room was cosy and bedding was clean and bed was very comfy, towels was very clean. We had a full English which was very nice. The young man serving in the mornings was very polite and pleasant.. In the bar a wide choice of drinks and the gentleman serving was also polite and pleasant. Thankyou to all staff for a pleasant stay Hotel is old in features which is what we like.
A bit tight on parking

Check in was very easy. Nice friendly staff. Rooms were upstairs overlooking a road, however very little traffic noise. Rooms were presented well and were clean with good toilet, shower and wash facilities. Comfy bed, albeit, a little too soft for me personally. Decent menu for food in the day / evening time and a great cooked breakfast the following morning. Good selection of beers and lagers. Good sized car park. Easy check out, in no way were we rushed out. Very nice and relaxed stay and good value for money.
As we were above the bar area, there was some noise from people downstairs but nothing too disturbing.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the George and Horn, our 2nd visit as stayed last year. The staff were amazing, putting a lovely 'Happy Anniversary' certificate on our bed with extra biscuits, such a kind and thoughtful gesture of the new housekeeping lady...thank you so much. And thank you to the manageress and lovely bar and chef lady (so sorry forgot your names) for keeping the kitchen open later so we could eat at 9pm after a long journey...you were all amazing and so very thoughtful thank you so very much. The pub is in the beautiful village of Kingsclere and so brilliantly situated for going to Highclere Castle, Basingstoke and Newbury, so central. The pub is so lovely oldy world, and you get a great cooked breakfast or choice of alternative hot food. It's a no frills, buy good down to earth comfortable hotel. But the great staff are the making of it. Thank you and see you again.

Location - we went to Carfest for the weekend but didn’t want to camp. The pub was a 15 minute easy drive. The breakfasts were great. Some of the politest and friendliest staff!
It could do with an overhaul but what do you want for the price? It was a perfect base for our needs. The beds were clean and very comfy. We were lucky to stay in the outbuilding which I would request if possible. The staff were great and I will book again for next year

What a brilliant host. We were attending a wedding locally and wouldn't have been able to check in until after midnight. Spoke with them beforehand and they allowed us to check in before we attended the wedding. Nice comfortable rooms, massive value for money. Would highly recommend.
There was nothing negative about this trip.

I have stayed at this location on three separate occasions now and always found it to be exactly what i wanted. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the food offered is always excellent, fresh and delicious, this trip i had a mixed grill which was top class and more than even my healthy appetite could manage. The rooms are adequate and comfortable, and i slept like a log after my long journey and equally long shift at work. The breakfast was excellent as ever, presented well and set me up for the day. All in all a first class stay and one i will be repeating very sson.
The location may be a little too quiet for some, its in a small hamlet about 30 minutes from Reading, for those of us who like a little bit of peace and quiet its ideal.

Although basic, everything was done to make us welcome and comfortable. The staff were excellent especially Raj who made us laugh many times. The coffee machine broke down and occasionally there was a nasty smell in the room, from the tank system we think but nothing to put us off staying there again. The food was excellent which we didn't expect so that was a bonus.
Not too much really, lovely quaint place to stay.

The property was the perfect location for our event. We had a party to attend at the Fieldgate Centre which was 10-15 walk away. Staff were exceptionally friendly.
Could do with a bit of TLC. Bar was great. Rooms were clean but dusty behind furniture and TV, hand soap dispensers needed in bathroom. We expected to take our own toiletries but not basics like hand soaps.
