Lovely big room, huge number of plug sockets and good lighting for a change in a hotel room. Lovely breakfast if smoked salmon and poached egg, my partner had the farmers breakfast hash which he loved. Tea and coffee in the room was better than other hotels with a great variety and fresh milk. Will definitely stay again, loved sitting in the wrap round outside area too. Andrius and staff know how to look after guests.

My only grumble was the lack of shelf in the bathroom that wasn't directly over the toilet and lack of floor towel as shower design made a wet floor a certainty

The room was lovely and the staff so very friendly, helpful and welcoming. A really comfortable bed, and I absolutely loved the extra little touch's - chocolates on the bed and wonderful, high quality coffee bags and biscuits.

The only reason I didn't mark the hotel 10/10 was due to the taps in the bathroom and lack of mini fridge. The taps in our family room were not labelled hot/cold and the water was very hot, so it was tricky for my daughter to manage without being able to identify the right tap. We visited in 30 degree heat, so would love to have had a cool mini fridge to hold water . Otherwise though, I was really happy and everything else was spot on!

The Berkshire Arms is an attractive rustic pub with pleasant hotel accommodation. We had an excellent stay with a good breakfast included, and we can also recommend the restaurant menu. All the staff were unfailingly courteous and attentive. Our room was a good size with facilities that were a cut above the average - for example, they provide a flask which you can have filled with fresh milk at the bar instead of the usual dreary, inadequate plastic pods. Highly recommended.

The room was lovely - tastefully decorated and very comfortable. It was quiet despite the building being so close to the main road. The staff were very attentive and worked around my mistakes (e.g. being OK with me having breakfast despite coming down just as the kitchen was closing!). The offer of fresh milk for tea & coffee was much appreciated.

The room and bathroom had a faint toilet smell each time I came in, although it soon became unnoticeable. The hot water took forever to come through. I started to have a cold shower, but then (thankfully!) the water began to heat up.

I'd be surprised if you could get better staff anywhere, they couldn't do enough, yet were relaxed and upbeat. Thank you. There were lots of rooms on the ground floor, and on second floor. Country vibe decor. The food was good, plenty of choice. Nice fire in the bar and a range of seats. The room spacious, comfy with quality furnishings. Plenty of parking. Good access to 2 nearby Railway Stations - Thatcham & Midgham.

The main road can be heard at night if it's raining. The storm brought down a few trees on the other side of Bath Road in roads to Silchester, some were closed, some low level large puddles, tho it was possible to get through via the common, and it is the Countryside so fair enough!. Am unsure of bus and taxi options, one firm quoted £35. Did see a bus stop directly outside - think buses go to Newbury & Reading, tho not Silchester or Tadley. Flask coffee was good at brekkie, preferred barista range is available later in the day. Overall the value of the breakfast is amazing tho, so who could grumble!. Recommend locals go there just for the breakfast!

Breakfast very good . The lady working was very professional but came over as friendly happy also . Room very comfortable Bed was a single preferred a double but no complaints . The young lady in the restraunt for both evenings was very helpfull and greeted with a smile attitude was very proffesional . I could see that she was keeping bar area / Resteraunt clean when not taking orders from customers . Good to see her keeping busy and tidying up when no service was required . It would be good if this could be mentioned to her immediate manager .

We have used this hotel many times and thought it could do with updating but we were happy to book there as it was convenient for visiting family and not too expensive. We haven't used it for some months due to illness so were really pleased on this visit to see they have upgraded and decorated the rooms to a higher standard. We always ask for rooms in the annexe so I can only comment on them but assume they've done the rest too. The rooms are welcoming, with very pleasing colours and decor, the beds are comfortable and the bathroom upgraded with a large shower. Provided iron with board, hairdryer and plenty of choice of tea, coffee etc.

The water and radiator in the bathroom were exceedingly hot and whilst it may seem silly to complain when some hotels struggle to provide this, I thought it dangerously so as I nearly burnt my hands from both. When replacing the hand towel after use, I accidently touched the radiator and it Burnt! Similarly, the hot water was scalding and needed lots of cold to make it usable. It would also be easier to have a towel ring close to sink as the radiator (only place to hang it) was behind the open door when just going in rinse your hands. Old wardrobe and shelves were replaced with a narrower wardrobe and no shelf space for non hanging clothes

Everything was Better than We thought. Would have been a little better if I had seen the Larger Pillows on top of the Wardrobe, which I was not aware of until I woke in the morning and spied them from my Horizontal position. I will know for another time.

Nothing, We will have to book again to see if we can find something to dislike, but that might take time. We will let you know then.

The rooms were clean and comfortable and exceeded our expectations. Also quiet in an easy to reach location. The bar was comfortable and welcoming.

The food. Sunday evening the staff knew we wanted to order small picky bits for us all to share and were informed that the kitchen closed at 9. One of our party went to order at 8:45 to be told the kitchen had closed. Monday breakfast. Down @ 9:30 to find no coffee available and only 1 pastry remaining for my continental breakfast. So we paid £6.99 for yoghurt, muesli and cherry compote! Not good value. The staff were helpful but explained that they had run out.

Breakfast great, friendly staff and rooms were gorgeous, clean and reasonably priced

We were told dinner was served til 9pm when we arrived at 8.30pm, when we asked for dinner we were told kitchen had closed. However they made it work and were able to serve dinner. Since all the signs said up til 9pm. Given we aren’t near any local shops that was quite stressful! But it was sorted in the end, although I would say if the kitchen is winding down at 8.30 please state this on the menus or at check in. This didn’t take away from the fact whole experience though as the rooms and staff and food were all great , just a bit of feedback
