First of all it was quite cheap. Secondly I had a fantastic 2 nights sleep,I extended my stay. It was so quiet during the night,I slept like a baby in a lovely big bed. A nice bathroom with all that you need was provided. Upon arrival I was greeted by a young lady called Lola on reception. This lady was so cheerful, helpful and informative,these people ate priceless. I've stayed in some wonderful hotels who have been let down by grumpy staff. Not at The Great Victoria, thank you Lola. Lovely breakfast too.

As always the Great Victoria provided the perfect place to stay - right opposite the train and few minutes to the main shopping area. The reception staff were very courteous, friendly and helpful. It was refreshing to have the personal touch that most hotels sadly lack these with self check-ins and having to make your bookings when extending your stay! WELL DONE GV! 5 stars to the reception team who made my stay that extra bit special. Oh and I must mention the lovely young lady who was on the bat whilst I was waiting for my train. It was her first day I believe I could see past the nerves and she will be valuable asset to the hotel in the future!

The WI-FI was a tad sketchy in my room but having run hotels myself in the past I can understand that certain areas have dead spots. I mentioned it to reception when I checked out and they were grateful for the heads up and assured me they would take a look at it. The way the girls responded to my comments was perfect and hasn’t affected my recommendation to other travellers that the GV is the only place to stay if you visit Bradford!

Staff was very helpful and attentive. One of the reason we would stay in this hotel again. Thank you very much for looking after us so well :) Hotel was beautiful. It is located next to the train station which is very convenient. Breakfast selection was good and tasty. Having iron and ironing board in the room was a big plus too.

Lift was broken which would be helpful to lot of people to be made aware of this fact in advance as stairs can be very difficult for some. We were not able to open the window in our room therefore it was hot in there. Although fan was provided, it wasn't great to have it on all night due to the noise.

Gentlemen on Reception were friendly. Fan in room was a good idea as windows don't open very wide like most hotels these days. Breakfast was enormous and included both hot and cold food. Price we paid for bed and breakfast was very good value compared to other hotels. Hotel is stylish and traditionally built with modern bathroom fittings. Lovely thick towels and plenty of shampoo, wash liquids. 5 minutes walk to large bus and train station. Short walk to shops, restaurants, cafes and places of interest. Reasonably quiet area.

Our room was fine for a one night stay but a bit on the small side but cosy. As it was hot weather the fan was useful but in the bathroom the towel rail was on upon arrival and so we asked a member of staff to turn it off. View was of the well lit Bradford 2025 seating area but too bright at night until you drew the curtains. We wish English hotels all over would provide a fridge. Tv ok but not that necessary in our opinion- a fridge more useful.

The room was great and the breakfast were excellent (but missing black pudding!) Location was ideal for use as a base for getting out and about the area by public transport, meaning we could both have a beer if we fancied one. You have the main bus and rail station across the road. Bradford is a great city and worth more thought than many are willing to give it. The hotel reminds you that Britain could once do Great!

A net curtain would be nice to orevent oversight by the courts. The lift wasn't fixed during the whole of our stay - I have bad knees and first floor was painful enough for me. Black pudding available on request at breakfast, because I realise it's not wrth having it on the buffet. Advising that there are lighter duvets for those of us that are hot blooded, please. Some of us do not like having 25 degree central heating at home, etc.

This is an excellent hotel. Not warn down like the rest in the same category, you can still feel the actual glamour of old school hotels. It was exceptionally clean. We went on a weekday so it was cheap to book the premium room with the bathtub in the bedroom and it was good fun. Free WiFi, massive room. I would definitely book again.

They mixed up our reservations with another couple which continued to give us some minor issues like the keys not working. The bathtub had a leak so we had to keep refiling it. First world problems, I would not stress too much.

Every single member of staff we met from behind the desk staff to those in the bar, and on breakfasts & the girls doing the bedrooms... all lovely. Genuine smiles. Out to be helpful. Our bed was very comfortable, good quality cotton sheets and duvets and pillows. Rooms are generous in size, quiet, and relaxing. Our breakfasts were good. The evening meal in the bar was a warm, comfy room. The sticky toffee pudding was the nicest I've ever had - as 'light as a feather' ... We enjoyed the ambiance of a grand, old, hotel with many of its fabulous original features etc. We loved our visit to Waterstone's and to Bill Bailey's Astonishing Portraits Exhibition.

Previous reviewers have mentioned the hotel is 'a bit tired' in places: but this didn't bother us ( the central location and niceness of staff more than made up for it). Currently there is a lot of pedestrianisation locally and our sat nav was out of date so we made a few circles - the hotel was visible but it wasn't immediately clear how to reach it. (But once we arrived there were good car parking facilities.)

Staff are all but a few, amazing. They will go out of their way to get you what you need or at least the right information. They are also friendly and hospitable. Perfect location for a single traveller. Fantastic breakfast that saves you £4 if you book with the room.

A few male staff C and I, plus one cleaning staff were not very pleasant. The others made up for it though! They got rid of their best feature: the revolving door. They also do not have the fantastic lunch menu they used to have. It was £16 for a home made main and desert. Please bring it back! Some rooms are definitely better than others. The TV’s are positioned weirdly so would be nice if you had them on the wall and could position them with an adjustable holder. Also would like a chain latch on the door. Would make me feel even safer.

Lovely hotel close to the railway station. I picked on reviews and wasn't disappointed. The whole place was immaculate, our room was perfect and the staff attentive. The beds were comfy and there was a large selection of tea and coffee available in the room. We had afternoon tea as part of our trip and staff went out of their way to make my daughter's birthday special. Shout-out to Nichelle on reception who made us welcome in a friendly, professional manner. She's an absolute credit to the hotel. The lift was not working of which we were aware but as someone with mobility issues I contacted the hotel ahead of our visit and we were given a room on the first floor which I managed. There are three short flights of stairs to get to the first floor which aren't steep, are well lit and have good bannisters. Will definitely be coming back here. Thank you to all.

Booked for an overnight stay following at concert at St George’s Hall and it’s the perfect location. Also right next to Bradford Interchange for the station and parking was just £5. The hotel is full of character and has lots of potential but is quite tired and in need of some TLC in parts. The price though was good and reflected the hotel. The bedroom was basic but comfortable and clean. The bathroom was clean and had a nice bath and shower. Only feedback would be it lacked a blind for the window, and whilst the window was frosted, at night with a light on you’d be visible on the street! The lift was out of order whilst we weee there and there are a lots of stairs which we managed it that would be an issue with older and less able people. Breakfast and bar area were good and we enjoyed the breakfast included. Finally and not least of all, all the staff we met were friendly. Welcoming and helpful.
