Spacious room, great food, free parking, good pool and well equipped gym. Staff were all very helpful, friendley and welcoming. The location is a five minute drive from the Newmarket Road Park and Ride with frequent buses into Cambridge centre. Loved the old water whell behind the window in the restaurant and the grounds of the old mill.
We stayed during a heat wave in June. No air conditioning in the rooms meant the room was quite hot so air con wiould have been welcomed. At times the time take between being seated for breakfast and dinner and someone taking our order seemed a long and we wondered if we had been forgotten? Nevertheless the staff were all very helpful and friendly.

Having read the reviews I was very pleasantly surprised. I did not think the hotel looked tired like others. We used it as a stop off to Cambridge city centre, we knew it was a way out of Cambridge itself, it is near the park and ride but we found an uber into the city was the same price as a taxi to the park and ride and then the cost of the park and ride on top, so we would recommend that. The spa facilities were a great bonus and you can use them after checkout so that extended our stay. Breakfast was good and unlike others we found ourselves the only people in the dining room for a late breakfast (we stayed on a weekday) and service was swift. As for noise, when we stayed there was no function on so can’t comment on that, the hotel is by a busy dual carriageway and when you are outside the noise is obvious but I sleep with earplugs anyway and having read the reviews, I took a spare pair for my friend to use, so our sleep was not disturbed.
The only negative was that the disabled parking area was outside our bedroom window (we were on the ground floor) and someone had parked directly in front of the window and was sitting in their car, which made us feel overlooked in the morning (it was hot and we had the window open). It is a large parking area so it would be great if the hotel could either put signs up saying do not park under windows, or maybe put frosting on the windows of the rooms affected.

Easy to get to, just off A14. Lovely gardens and characterful hotel. Great to be able to use the spa facilities too. Food was expensive but great selection and very tasty. The standard twin was in the newer part of the hotel, separate blocks in the car park. For a standard room it was a good size and the beds were comfortable. Service was good and staff responsive to enquiries and requests.
We were given a disabled access room which we weren’t informed about. The bathroom was a utilitarian wet room with grab rails everywhere and a less than new perching stool. We also had no towels so had to request these. It would have been nice to have been asked if were happy to have this style of room. The soundproofing was not great. The room was near the building entrance so we could hear everyone coming and going.

It's lovely and peaceful in beautiful surroundings. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, and made us feel welcome.
The stairs, unfortunately, were on the 3rd floor and being in our late 60's they were abit much! The staff were great though, carried our cases up, and down when we left. The view from our bedroom was lovely to wake up to. I would still stay again, but would ask for ground floor. The food was good but a little expensive, but they had a great Sunday Roast. Breakfast again was very good, with plenty of choice.

We regretted that we had only booked one night at this charming hotel. Every aspect of our stay was comfortable and the hotel itself had plenty of character. Our room offered a lovely view of the river, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable (150-160cm), with a choice of pillows available. The shower was excellent. Since we arrived late, we decided to have some light salads at the restaurant, and they were truly delicious. Our freshly prepared breakfast was also delectable, although it did take some time to prepare, but it was definitely worth the wait. There were also some buffet options available for those who prefer a quicker meal. Overall, our experience was delightful, and we hope to return soon.
We didn't inquire about an elevator, and it wasn't immediately visible, so I assisted my colleague in carrying her luggage up the stairs to the second floor and back down at check-out.

A very spacious room and expansive grounds. I attended an event and the event was well-hosted by the hotel. Plenty of parking and in a quiet area. It's a bit of a trek to get into Cambridge, but the relative seclusion of the location created a sense of escape from the usual town/city bustle.
The layout could do with some extra signposting: finding breakfast was a little confusing, for example, although anyone with a little initiative would have made it in the end. The room was very spacious but the position and style of lights could be improved to improve the ambience of the room: the bathroom, for example, could have done with spot lighting over the mirror and improved "zone" lighting control. It was just a couple of simple lights during my stay that made for a dingy feeling as the night went on.

I think the reviews are pretty harsh for this hotel as we had a great stay. Although we chose not to eat at the hotel, the staff were friendly, the spa was nice enough to use and overall the price for what we paid was very good value. Our tea and coffee were stocked up and toiletries without having to ask and I think peoples expectations of the rooms are too high as they have everything you need and were clean.
We did ask if we could have a bath in our room but was told it would be £40 a day to upgrade, not the end of the world but with pictures advertised as having a bath it was slightly disappointing.

The staff were exceptionally attentive and welcoming, making the entire stay a true pleasure. The hotel itself was stunning—immaculately presented with elegant touches throughout. The location was equally breathtaking, offering serene views and a tranquil atmosphere. To top it all off, the spa experience was nothing short of outstanding—pure relaxation and luxury at its finest.

Our room was outstanding. It had the usual tea/coffee-making facilities, plus a coffee-making machine, a ceiling fan, a jacuzzi, and a large, very comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent, with a varied menu, and the spa facilities are free to use if you are booked in at the hotel. All the staff were helpful and very pleasant., The staff at the Spa were very professional and knew their job well.
It would have been nice to have a plan of the layout of the complex, showing possible routes to walk as an addition.

We loved the room and it was perfect for a couple wanting a weekend away. The Spa was excellent as well. Staff were friendly and the location is great for those wanting to be just out of the busy town centre.
Although we loved our room and the bathroom was very clean the ceiling in the main room had many black cobwebs and the room could do with some fresh paint as the walls are heavily marked and have chunks of plaster missing from them. The breakfast was a tad expensive at £15 per person (pre-booked) and although we appreciate its a busy time ourselves and several others had to wait nearly 50 minutes for the breakfast to be cooked.
