Clean and comfortable accomodation with air con and lovely bathroom. Andy the manager and all the staff were amazing. Had a problem with aircon in our room and we were upgraded to a fantastic room and given a complimentary bottle of Prosecco for our inconvenience which was a lovely gesture. The meal we enjoyed in Dexters restaurant on our last evening was exceptional please try the steak if you visit ! The Breakfasts were absolutely beautiful with the homecured bacon a must try 😋 Thankyou Andy for a memorable stay and we will be back 👍

The staff were great, really friendly and helpful, and it’s a building full of history. It has real presence as a hotel. The room was a decent size, and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast food was really good…when we got it (see negative comment)

I understand that it’s difficult to control when people come down to breakfast, but breakfast service was invariably very slow. On one of the days we were there, some other people had to wait 15 minutes for the previous customers crockery to be cleared. On our last day we were waiting for 20 minutes and a drinks order hadn’t even been taken, so we had to leave due to timing. The staff were apologetic, but it really wasn’t ideal before a long journey ahead of us. Also, Dexter’s restaurant is overpriced. Car parking is very tight, but again, not much to be done about that.

This is I think the third time I have stayed at Browns. The hotel is really lovely, it has a welcoming feeling and the decor is unique warm and comfortable but it is really the staff that are the heart of the hotel, all of them, from the manager the bar and waiting staff and all the housekeeping team, they are all exceptional and are a true team. One other very important thing, the food , the breakfasts are so delicious with the added bonus of a complimentary sausage for your pooch! Really exceptional! Then there is Dexters, the in house restaurant, their bar/ a la carte and Sunday Roast menus are simply out of this world, I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I am particularly fond of the old part of the hotel , I find the rooms so much more characterful .

Nothing not to like. Beutiful hotel and restaurant. Excellent room overlooking main street. Beutiful town well maintained. Great Castle within 2 minutes walk. Beutiful garden area on arrival for outside drinks. Very welcoming and informative staff. Nothing too much trouble. We stayed two nights and wished we were there longer. Definitely going back as easy to use as a base as close to main roads. Dexters restaurant is Beautifully decorated and the food is excellent. Their steaks and starters are definitely a must. Breakfast was Beutiful. Smoothy a must. As is their special soufflé. Manager and staff were so attentive. Cannot praise them enough.

Absolutely nothing

All the staff team were friendly and made us feel very welcome at all times. Despite being busy, they always stopped and made time to answer our queries straight away. We were offered help by everyone if it appeared we might find difficulty in any way. Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast in Dexters which we would thoroughly recommend this to others as, a way above average dining experience. Our steaks were cooked to perfection for us and we loved all the creative thoughtful ways that had been given to the presentation of every dish. Thank you so much.

The room was beautifully appointed with a smart TV and loads of other amenities, a gorgeous free standing bath, that I took advantage of and a lovely period charm. Its so close to the walks and very easy to find. Staff were friendly and helpful and could not do enough for us. The food in Dexters was stunning. An excellent place to stay and explore the beautiful scenery.

That the hotel did not open till 3pm, we would have liked to check-in and leave our luggage in the room. Would have been nice if they were open for lunch. It was unusual that the staff are not on premises overnight, but not necessarily a bad thing.

The room was really comfortable and stylish. Plenty of space for me and great set up e.g. TV, coffee/tea items and small fridge. The water pressure was good considering I was on the top floor. Immaculately clean. The staff were really down to earth, approachable and helpful. Loved all my meals; burger, eggs Benedict's (thank you Morag) and my Welsh breakfast (thank you Chef!).

There could be a little more shelving in the bathroom for toiletries/make-up etc. The bath-shower wasn't an issue but I would have preferred to have a walk in shower if I had known. One of the handles on the chest of drawers was broken so difficult to open.

An absolutely amazing stay, the staff in the hotel and Dexters restaurant are fantastic, very friendly and helpful and made sure our stay was perfect. The food and dining experience in dexters restaurant is outstanding. The breakfast is cooked to perfection, we stayed for three nights and every morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Dinner is amazing, I highly recommend the steaks, they are cooked beautifully. We stayed in a superior room and it was fantastic. The decor and finishing touches in the rooms and in the hotel are lovely, well equipped and very clean. Overall, I highly recommend staying at Browns and dining in Dexters and we will absolutely visit again.

Everything. Location, hotel. Restaurant. Room had all that was needed. Bed was cosy and comfortable. Meals were exceptional. Only thing we would change is not have the room up three flights of stairs, also was unable yo park car in carpark, or out the front of hotel. Had to find parking space down the road.

Excellent dinner in Dexter's restaurant on site; and superb breakfast. Room a little smaller than expected, and disappointed at restocking overnight - no fresh bottle of water, no biscuits. Small things, but at this level, you expect the small things to be right. The bar had a poor selection of beers. A choice of a couple of good cask ales would be more than welcome, and a poor selection of whiskies.
