The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. I was very grateful to the waitress and the manager for allowing me to have breakfast at 7.20am, which was before the usual start time of 7.30am, so that I could catch my train on time. The food, both the breakfast and evening meal, was delicious. As for the room, it was small but cozy, with a comfortable bed and clean, ensuite bathroom. Finally, the location is excellent. Right in the heart (calon) of Carmarthen, amongst its lovely pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops. The train station is only a ten minutes' walk away.

There was no tea spoon or sugar on the desk next to the kettle, while the bedroom walls were paper thin. I could hear the TV of the room next door. Nevertheless, this was a pleasant stay in Wales's oldest town.

I stayed here for a couple of days recently. The location is definitely one of the highlights—close to everything, with a vibrant atmosphere that doesn’t stop, even when you might want it to. There's a lively restaurant right beneath the rooms, and the music carries up quite well. The furniture has a certain old-school charm. It’s clearly been around for a while, but there’s something to be said for pieces that tell a story (or a few decades of them). Parking is available, which is always good to know. It exists, and that's really all one can ask. Breakfast is served, and it's a thoughtful touch. Occasionally, the toast doesn’t arrive, but they never forget the butter. The bathroom is surprisingly modern and functional—clearly a recent update, and a welcome one. Overall, it’s an experience. If you enjoy music with your sleep, furniture with history, and butter with potential, this could be the place for you.

The room was clean, comfortable and warm.

The breakfast on both mornings was served up warm, ⁷not hot. Sunday carvery wasn't very nice either, that was warm.i ordered a sausage sandwich for my breakfast and I left most of it. Sausage hot outside and cold inside. Think it was supposed to of been warmed through ? There was lady who did bar and kitchen and food who I found to be very nice to us. The rest of everything was ok ish. Overall I wouldn't have breakfast breakfast there again. The room was fine.

Could possibly have a handrail for the bath to help you to get in Only other thing I can say, but it’s no fault of the hotel as I love my stay was there was so much noise outside of the property as the youngsters were coming back from the nightclub at 4:30 in the morning so got woken up a couple of times during the night but I think that’s only to do with the bank holiday weekend but otherwise outstanding stay

The breakfast (full english made to order) was perfect. The room was clean and tidy and very light and bright - the bathroom products (shampoo / bodywash were very lovely too). The option for dinner was available but was much better to go out and find the nearby fish bar.

The room was a little overstuffed with furniture - two bedside cabinets for a single bed - why? And the corner shower was irritating as I'd far rather have the opportunity of a bath - the corner shower also didn't really work in that space and it leaked at the door.

Welcoming staff and parking option. The restaurant sure have an atmosphere and good meals are served reasonably quick. Being very central allowed us to do some laundry and shopping in walking distance. One bedroom was equipped with USB charging options which is super convenient when you come from abroad.

Parking space are very tight, plan to use a narrow car if you rent. That's also a general advice as the roads are narrow too. Be mindful that upper floor stair is quite steep.

I had a great time at The Boars Head. The location is central to the town. The room was clean, tidy, warm and the bed was comfortable. The breakfasts are really good with a decent choice. I ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was amazing. I was served by a lovely lady called Natalie. She was so accommodating, friendly and pleasant. She made me feel comfortable as I am a solo traveller dining alone. She brings a great atmosphere to the restaurant. So thank you Natalie! I will definitely be returning. Thank you.

From the moment we arrived all of the staff were extremely attentive and very helpful. Everyone we met gave the outward appearance of being happy in their work and that nothing was too much. The breakfast was excellent - freshly cooked and again it was easy to ask for what you wanted. Our room was large and the bathroom was spotless and kept that way during the week. We had dinner in the hotel once during the week (eating out within the town the rest of the week) and the food was really lovely and there was a convivial atmosphere within the dining room. All in all an excellent place to stay.

The only thing that was slightly wrong was the window catch in our bedroom which was rusted and wobbly and this made opening and shutting the window difficult.

Excellent location right in the town centre with free parking. Room recently refurbished. Characterful wood-panelled bar and restaurant. Good quality breakfast. Good value for money, although it is not a luxury hotel.

Sometimes difficult to find a member of staff to provide service. The door of the shower in my room was broken, and this was not repaired during my stay. It did not prevent me having a shower, but did not give a good impression.

A hotel with real character. A step back into the 1970s, but in a good way. Full of nostalgia in the bar and restaurant, with quirky decor in the bar and restaurant, yet with updated ensuit rooms that were comfortable and well equipped. The staff were a credit to the establishment, with special mention to Thomos (the host with the most!), Cheryl (who took our beer and curry stained washing home!), and D (who looked after us with our night cap in the wee small hours) , all of whom who were attentive at all times and often went above and beyond to make sure we were happy guests. Well done to chef Gonzo, who drank with us in the Plume at night, then cooked our breakfast in the morning - fair play. The food in the restaurant was excellent - with a Sunday carvery to die for. All in all, what a great hotel, made special by an excellent staff - not forgetting the cleaners - a team to be proud of. We will definitely, definitely, definitely be back.
