Breakfast was good, we hadn't pre paid so found it a bit strange that the choice and price for residents differed from the 'public' menu which kicked in at 9a.m! Staff were mostly very friendly, a lot of different faces
I was aware that there were stairs to negotiate, however, extra care is needed on these stairs as being in an old building they varied in height, width and some were a bit precarious. It was VERY warm on the second floor, as we were there during a very warm spell of weather this was difficult to manage, a fan in the room did help but they would benefit from some form of aircon if our summers are going to carry on warming. Pillows left a bit to be desired ☹️. As mentioned in other reviews a supply of new towels wouldn't go amiss, very clean but have definitely seen better days. Parking also a bit tricky, be prepared to pay unless you are out and about all day from 9a.m

The Rose and Crown is in a central location on Lammas Street, just around the corner from the bus station. It is a short walk to the railway station, the castle and in the heart of the town with its shops, bars and restaurants. Despite the central location, it's fairly quiet. I stayed in room 1, which overlooks Lammas Street and, even with the window open, was not disturbed by traffic noise, etc. The room was spacious, comfortable and with a very good ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was good, with hot dishes prepared to order - so, lovely and fresh. The staff were all friendly, helpful and welcoming.

Room was great, very comfortable. I slept very well here (rare for me in a hotel). Shower worked a treat. Breakfast was excellent - beautifully cooked and plenty of it. Every member of staff I met was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
The wifi in the bedroom was mostly non-existent. The person I checked in with did warn me of this but this should be on their website. I and my colleague, staying in another room there, needed to send each other documents for the following day, which we were unable to do, so we had to exchange memory sticks in the morning, entailing another level of work. Please fix this - this is a great hotel, don't let this one thing let you down.

Location was brilliant right in the heart of town, we had a lovely evening meal in the restaurant good choice on the menu ,the pub has a lovely friendly feel about it and would definitely recommend the breakfast we didn't eat again until evening , our room was on the 3rd floor with the window facing the street but you couldn't hear any noise it had secondary glazing the bed was very comfortable I had a really good night's sleep I will stay here again when next I visit the beautiful town of Carmarthen
There's nothing I would change everything was perfect

The room was nice (although the edging was coming off the desk in the room, I could see) and the soundproofing to the outside (and to the bar area below) was good too, given that it was a Saturday night, I was only on the first floor (and in the room nearest to the stairway leading down to the bar / restaurant area) and given that my room was also looking out over the street (and almost over the front entrance to the establishment itself)....so I was probably in the room most susceptible to sound / noise. However, I slept well all night! I was also impressed with the cleanliness of the room (although maybe having an air freshener in there might be good too, given that opening the window for fresh air - and so being subjected to the typical noise from a town centre street outside - would not be appealing) whilst the bed was excellent and very clean and comfortable. The shower in the ensuite room was also fine and the ensuite bathroom itself was very clean. The staff themselves were also pleasant and accommodating.
I think it would be better if the seating in one particular area of the bar was changed so as to not to have to ask the bar-users / customers to have to move off their stools to allow the door providing access to the stairway leading up to the rooms to be opened. This was particularly frustrating when carrying one's luggage, etc. In addition, I would have liked it if that door could only have been opened by the guests staying there...rather than just being capable of being opened by just anyone - for greater security and peace of mind as a guest.

Welcome, cleanliness, breakfast, little extras, comfort, location for this part of Wales, cost. Parking was ok too.
We weren't expecting to be quite so much on a main street. Taxis outside room, so chatter. Noise from bar below. BUT IT WAS ALL CONTROLLED AND WENT QUIET, so slept well. Starters for meal menu were not right, they need a rethink, but food was plentiful and we enjoyed it. Pleasant dining room

Very pleasant clean room with - most importantly - a comfortable bed. Fantastic location. In spite of an England v Wales Rugby match being shown in the pub below, we were pleased to discover that we couldn't hear the noise from those watching it, at all in our room. We used the small council car park just a few doors up from the pub - after 6pm it's free and from 8am it was something like £3.60 for 4 hours (you could just pay for an hour etc, though). Very useful having the electric fan available in the room as it was quite a warm night.
Not the fault of the Rose & Crown, but the noise from the road sweeping vehicle going up and down the road at 6am on a Sunday morning was annoying!

Town centre hotel in a very good location. Friendly, helpful staff. Very clean. Excellent food, both at breakfast and the evening meal we ate there. It was a fantastic base for the things we wanted to see locally.
There's no parking but the car park round the corner isn't very expensive and was free overnight, so it wasn't a big deal.

It was a nice pub, nice decor staff are so friendly and the food was really good. the room was clean and comfortable. the shower was good. parking was only round the side of the hotel even though it was public. it’s easy to pay online and it’s free overnight. stayed two nights and room was cleaned each time.
It’s on a main road through the town and so there was a bit of noise as we were in a room at the front and had to have the window open due to the hot weather. it would have been quieter with the window shut. doors slamming upstairs in the evening and early morning was slightly annoying
