The pub is over 100 years old, situated just off the A29 on the Old London Road, a quiet location. Parking at the back of the pub. We had the family room because it had a bath, it was spacious and clean, had king size bed and 2 comfortable chairs. Coffee and tea facilities. Nice artwork on the walls. Breakfast was tasty and freshly prepared, lovely coffee. We had our evening meals in the pub, too, very good.

The mattress was too soft for me and I didn't sleep well because of it. The amount of food with the evening meals was uneven, my husband had the pie with lots of veg and chunky chips, I had creme of chicken (very tasty!) with literally 3 half baby potatoes and 3 slices of leeks, I was still hungry after the meal. At breakfast you get your slice of toast already buttered, the butter disappeared into the toast and left it quite dry. I rather butter my own.

What a lovely friendly pub! The staff were so nice and even the customers in the bar were so friendly. Food was delicious, the room was clean and had everything we required. Really really nice stay and would love to return

The only criticism I can honestly make is that the mattress in Room 5 was not at all up to the standard we would expect. We had read the reviews before going to stay and this had been highlighted before. We had hoped it would have been addressed and a hotel standard mattress available 😞 This stay would have been 10/10 had we had a comfy bed

Lovely rooms, well furnished and up to date. Reasonable choice for dinner and breakfast

Despite advance notice of one guest requiring gluten free breakfast, we were informed that neither the sausages nor beans were gluten free and no substitute was offered. As a non egg eater this limited the choice somewhat. The only thing provided that was specifically gf, was bread, which had to be toasted. The breakfast arrangements could have been made a little clearer, unsure whether jams or marmalades were provided. Límited gluten free food at dinner as the preferred dishes were sold out.

The food was amazing, the location quiet and beautiful, the staff are warm, friendly and accommodating

everything was great, apart from the we got back late from a wedding and wanted a hot shower, but something happened with the boiler, so there was no hot water. We didn't have a room phone to call anyone, but they fixed it by the morning, so wasn't too much a problem. still loved the place thanks

We stayed at the Labouring Man for my brother’s funeral. Martin and his wife, plus his brilliant staff couldn’t have done more to make our stay better. They looked after our party so well. The buffet lunch was plentiful and delicious. We would highly recommend this pub/hotel. I forgot to mention the breakfasts- very tasty with so much choice. We loved it. I would recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toast.

To have had my brother, Nick, there too. X

The food was really good and the service also. It was nice to be able to eat outside, especially given the excellent weather during our stay.

The room was ok overall but the bathroom as a little small and I found the shower cubicle a bit cramped. The toilet did not flush properly- it took 3 or more goes to flush away solid waste, I raised this with the staff but I felt my concerns were not taken seriously and we just got on with it in the end.

Lovely accommodation and pub, in a nice setting, welcoming and helpful responsive people, allowed flexibility on room arrival, although it did incur moderate additional fee, but overall very happy with the service and my stay.

Nothing much to say, perhaps a little bit of sound transfer from room above, but that did not really affect my stay.

Idyllic location. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Lots of locals in the bar and restaurant. The restaurant was superb; very well cooked and reasonably priced (ate there both evenings). Make sure you book as it's very popular.

No dislikes as such, though I would have liked a bit more breakfast non-cooked choice as my preference is for buffet style rather than cooked. Couldn't fault the actual food though.

Everything about this b&b was exceptional. Every member of staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble for the boss and his wife who went out of their way to provide a first-class food experience, together with a comfortable bedroom, containing plenty of storage space and a 2-seater sofa (and a shower that works!)

There was nothing seriously wrong. A couple of very small things - the lighting was poor in the bedroom and the pillows need replacing
