Had 2 nights at this fantastic location (wish it had been more). Had Cathedral room literally opposite the front but quiet. Room was lovely and comfortable, bathroom lovely and shower was great with fixed and hand held. Breakfast was continental buffet. Tea and toast was provided by waitress. Had dinner the first night, food was great with an added bonus of free dessert! Extra bonus was seeing the carpet of flowers at the Cathedral and not having to worry about parking as it was crazy with so many people turning up. Location we found was great but if you have mobility problems then the the steep hill would possibly put you off but by car you have the car park opposite the castle/town so shouldn't be a problem.

Maybe a bit more fruit at breakfast ;-) And you have to get used to the noise of the doors being closed to your own and other rooms. The lock is so difficult that you have to slam it to close!! Maybe looking at a different lock system would be good...

The breakfast was very good, especially on the second day when there was the option of boiling an egg. The beds were comfortable and the en suite was good. We liked our room, nicely decorated and furnished. We enjoyed our meals in the pub in the evenings.

it would have been nice to have had a chair in our room! table right outside our window with customers sitting on the pub patio meant it was quite noisy at times and we felt we needed to draw the curtains even though it was daylight and sunny! problems with the kettle! clothes hanging area a bit high!

Continental breakfast was lovely. Nice jam , great ham, selection of cereals and mixed fruit. Nice evening meals. Great location opposite castle and next to Cathedral. We had a wonderful two night break, enjoyed the castle and grounds, the Corpus Christi celebrations, the Sistine Chapel replica ceiling at Goring and even found an hour to visit the seaside at Littlehampton. A comfy bed at St Mary’s Inn helped us rest from a packed itinerary.

No wardrobe in room, just a hanger ladder for clothes. ( I always take too many things with me though.) didn’t cause a problem

Great location, cannot fault it! When I went to the tulip festival in the beautiful castle, it led us basically opposite to the cathedral and our hotel! So close to everything :) The pub was lovely, always a good atmosphere. Staff did a good job, friendly and happy to help. Sometimes there wasn’t any staff about (during very quiet hours I think) and I never did find out how to get someone to the pub floor but they eventually showed up after a small wait. Parking wasn’t a problem which is great! Everyone seems so friendly in Arundel!

Everything was great. Just the room itself wasn’t thought out too well, such as plug socket positioning. Two mirrors right by eachother as well, the really big round one should be above the table so doing hair and make up is at the ‘dressing table’ and the TV should just shimmy over to make room for the mirror. Sorted! Lighting wasn’t super either but it wasn’t bad!

We stayed on a Sunday night so was lovely and quiet as the pub closed at 6pm. Comfortable room with everything needed. Parked car directly in front of room. View of pub courtyard and cathedral behind. Lovely, varied breakfast. Friendly staff.

Couldn't get any hot water from basin taps or shower in both rooms. Sign in one room said to run water for a long time but tried this. Surfaces of bedside tables covered in white dust on arrival. Otherwise very clean.

This is the second year in row we've used St Mary's Gate for an overnight stay. We returned to Arundel to further explore the area and visit the castle (well worth coming back for - we ran out of time last year) and this was our first choice of accommodation. The location (at the top of the hill) is perfect and the rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable. The kettle in the room was much appreciated, the continental breakfast was just right and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

It was a good location and had parking right outside - very helpful in a town. room was cool and dark in the best. Staff were very helpful and breakfast was good. Helpful to have meals on hand at night. Good to have own front door.

The bathroom window was extremely close to pub garden people sitting at a table so window could not be left open. There was a musty smell in arrival. Some guests noisy on leaving door next door.

Beautiful location right next to Arundel Cathedral and the castle walls. A 5 minute walk from the centre of the town and very comfortable and clean accommodation. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and worked hard to make the stay as pleasant as possible for guests.

Nothing of any note - it’s not cheap but the quality was high.

Very friendly staff, welcoming and helpful. fantastic location, right in the heart of Arundel. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay. The room was beautiful, and I absolutely love the artworks around the property. We will definitely be back.

Unfortunately, the heating wasn't working, so it was a chilly night, and I didn't sleep much. But the staff did all they could to help. This was no fault of the owners it's just an unfortunate situation.

The room & bathroom was very clean, shower excellent. Bed & pillows were extremely comfortable. Very pleasent staff. At breakfast there was a good choice of freshly prepared food.

There wasn't anything we didn't like, apart from we found the coffee machine a bit fiddly to use, with the tiniest of print to read to work it...and would have like a couple of hot chocolate sachets..if i was going to be really fussy!
