Friendly staff and very helpful. Room was clean and nicely laid out. Window looking out on to farm land and distant views gorgeous. Location was perfect, top end of quiet village. Nice walks in surrounding area. Good choice for breakfast.

Residents garden a lovely idea and outlook beautiful,but... Could do with some TLC. Fence broken,a bit unloved. I experienced noise from a outside freezer area during the night. For the price, I thought the outside of the unit needed some tiding up and the internal side of the door had bare wood and needed attention.

Great location, friendly efficient people, plenty of parking, high quality food ingredients, good room and bathroom.

Lack of truely local produce and lighter options on the menu. Breakfast a good example. Having read about the food ethos, I was looking forward to, for instance, a local fruit fruit-salad, bread made from the stone gound flour milled in the next village etc. Masses of cooked things on the menu, but the only simpler dish was granola but that was not available either night we stayed. My wife asked from some toast. Was brought some over toasted, thinly cut sourdough bread that was more like a rusk and some very hard butter. One the second day had an egg dish. Excellent eggs but from Cornwall!

Our room was spacious, clean and perfect for our needs, and the staff were delightful and helpful. The location is idylic. The bar/restaurant was warm and atmospheric.

On the Sunday during the Goodwood Revival weekend, all residents needed to get off promptly to the Revival and breakfast was advertised as open at 8am. All residents arrived in the restaurant by 8am, however, the buffet was not ready until 8.20am which then delayed everyone, and of course, insufficient food to serve everyone all at once. At this important weekend it would make sense for management to ensure the breakfast is ready at exactly or just before restaurant opening time and there is sufficient for all guests who all arrived on time at 8am.

The breakfast was good and dinner and lunch were really lovely. The room was advertised on booking.com as having a coffee machine but there wasn't one. Tv didnt work for first day/night that we stayed and the staff did their best to try and sort but to no avail. Got a new tv on the second day. Some of the decor on the walls was rather tired/dirty. They provide bottled water but no glasses. There are only glasses in the bathroom for your toothbrushes. They advertise as being luxurious rooms but I would say that is stretching the description somewhat. Adequate is more realistic. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

We couldn't think that our first experience could be beaten - We celebrated my 50th birthday here last year - but I was wrong! This time, we celebrated our wedding anniversary. Hamish and his team made our stay another memorable one. Impeccacle service and attention to detail. The food - both lunch and dinner - were absolutely delicious. The cocktails - made by Hamish -:were spectacular. The breakfast options were also delicious and generous. An absolute favourite of ours! Thanks Hamish (and team) for another amazing stay

Breakfast was well above expectation, though the sausages were really undercooked for my taste! Lots of coffee, juice etc, large portions and top notch service.

We were in a cottage. Generally great but beds seemed old and tired. Lighting in the lounge could have been better - more lamps needed. The dining area floor, though practical, was painfully noisy when moving chairs. However, well equipped and some great touches such as homemade biscuits. You can park right next to the cottages in a private area.

A good selection of quality breakfast/dinner options. We stayed in Flint Cottage which was wonderful. A well equipped lounge area, with a small kitchenette, with a sink, fridge and coffee/tea provisions and iced water in the fridge. Upstairs, a very comfortable bedroom which was very pleasant.

There is a store/rubbish area at the side of the pub, we had to walk past this to get to our accommodation. This area was not in keeping and was unpleasant to walk past. FYI The cottage is not disability friendly, a steepish staircase and the bath was tricky to get into, with no separate shower

The welcome and friendliness of staff - staying at a popular local inn, yet with comfortable, clean and quiet accommodation. Delicious breakfast and choice. Quaint and cute set-up for guests eg guest garden at back with lovely view over fields and the odd small plane flying overhead. Lovely village, church, green and paths to stroll along. Sweet touches for our dog with provided cushion, towel and bowl. We seldom repeat visit a place as there is so much to explore, but we would gladly return here!

Very nicely furnished bedroom and large well finished bathroom. Comfy bed. High quality tea and coffee choices in the room. Breakfast on the first day - 'Eggs Royale' with smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce - was delicious. On the second morning the kitchen's extractor fan was being repaired so the choices were limited. We still had most of a full English, yet they offered to take breakfast cost off our bill. A fine gesture that wasn't necessary. The Dinner menu isn't fine dining but is certainly a cut above your average pub fayre. For example, their nicoise salad is made with hot smoked trout and a very good dressing. As a Butcombe Inn the beer in the pub was a favourite of mine and well kept. Staff were all welcoming friendly and attentive.

Wine seemed a little expensive but the ones we had were good. The only criticism I'd have is the wi-fi and TV in the room. It wasn't possible to tune in to terrestrial channels to watch the news for example. Yet you can access Netflix and Prime TV. Wi-fi didn't work at all in the room we were in, but it was fine in the pub.

Location was excellent for touring local sites, it’s in the countryside but easy reach of Chichester and surrounding areas but would need own transport. Very quiet and peaceful location. Room and en-suite were both very spacious, although accessed from outside. Staff were very friendly. Car park is directly opposite pub and extremely close, not a negative as it’s closer than some on site hotel parking.

Accessing room when raining, outside steps were a bit slippery.
