Breakfast was available at the requested time. It was served by the owner with a cheery smile, at an appropriate temperature and attractively presented. We also received welcome advice on both travel back to Lerwick on the ferry and getting to Noss to see the wildlife there. Evening meals were not available every night but the one night we ate there the food was of high quality and served in a friendly environment.
The hotel is on a separate island and is only reached by a ferry that travels hourly or more frequently at rush hours. We did not find this a problem and the only time we had to wait for an extended period was on the first day when we didn't know the ropes.

Maryfield house is a 3 room hotel opposite Lerwick a 7 minute ferry ride away. The rather grey exterior hides a real gem of a hotel. Rooms are spacious and clean and the staff extra helpful. Breakfast menu is the same each day but as they are only catering for 3 rooms that is to be expected. Dinner is expensive but of good quality and good portions. They will fit in with your needs wherever possible to provide excellent service.
The hotel is on Bressay which is a nice but small island so only takes a short time to explore unless you are on foot.. This means taking the ferry across to Lerwick and so you need to have the timetable available as there is often only 1 ferry an hour. Not the hotels fault though!

This Hotel was very comfortable. The room was large with great views. The bed was extremely comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The restaurant was at times busy, but the staff were sensitive to the needs of guests and made sure we still had a quiet place to eat. We would not hesitate to return here.
The cooked breakfast and toast were excellent, but the alternatives were limited to a couple of cereals and fruit juice. The addition of fresh fruit and yoghurt would have been great

The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, with a modern en-suite bathroom (that was spacious too). The staff were friendly and efficient, regularly checking that all was ok and on whether we needed anything. The cooked breakfasts were wonderful and the dinner menu excellent. All combined into a very relaxing stay.
The public bar could have been a little quieter on the Friday evening (some out-of-tune singing!), but it did add to the character of the place and it all quietened down quite early.

We loved everything about this beautiful hotel that is more like living in your own manor house. We arrived bedraggled hours earlier than expected and were welcomed immediately with a beautiful breakfast and a superb room... spotless, stylish and the most magnificent water views. The owners and locals were generous with their local knowledge and we enjoyed superb hikes on Bressay and Noss to encounter an abundance of Puffins, gannets, skuas, otters etc Staying for several nights was the best! Will definitely be back. Thank you to all of the staff for your care.

A truly excellent stay with a comfortable room enjoying great views towards Lerwick, a tasty breakfast each morning and some marvellous dinners, among the best we have had in Shetland. Very welcoming hosts and it all felt like a home away from home, we left feeling very relaxed and very well fed!
Can hear noise from the bar of an evening from the room but always quietened down and when somewhere is popular with the locals too, some enthusiastic singing and live music should not be discouraged!

It was lovely. we are not big breakfast eaters but a good cup of coffee is important to us so we asked for strong coffee and Maria paid attention and gave us strong coffee which was great. she is a friendly helpful and charming hostess
Nothing really - because the address is a Lerwick postcode we had not understood that we were on Bressey, it was our fault, but it just added another ferry into the day.

The food was superb ... A full breakfast, prepared by James, was fabulous every morning to begin the day! And eating in.the hotel dining room was a wonderful evening experience! Nelly is a consummate chef with an extraordinary flair! Tasting whisky from James' extensive collection was a real treat at the end of the day! Staying on Bressay Island across from Lerwick was a unique adventure trip on the ferry every morning too.
Everything was perfect.

The location next to the ferry was great. The hotel is very clean and the owners are so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great and so was dinner. The room was large and very comfortable. We enjoyed stopping in at the bar after a long day where the locals were friendly and chatty.
I had no complaints. Great place to stay
