Room small but fine for 3 nights but that was our choice, other larger rooms are available. Lovely to have fridge, kettle and coffee machine. You can alter the heating to what you prefer. Lovely water pressure for shower which had a good selection of toiletries. Fabulous views of town and river. Good choice of freshly cooked breakfast and quality cereals and condiments. Dinner available and food was lovely. They offer a discount to eat at the sister hotel of The Church Inn and the restaurant there is excellent which has a great atmosphere and good selection of well presented tasty dishes. The staff at both places were attentive and efficient. Free car park with plenty of spaces. Location is good for exploring Ludlow.

All great but be aware it’s a steep walk into the town.

The hotel was beautiful, with views over the river. The property was clean, easy to navigate and decorated well. The Tempest room we were located in was beautiful and had a small balcony overlooking the river which was an absolute delight. The tea and coffee in the room was good quality and plentiful and the included breakfast was fresh and good quality.

The car park was somewhat tricky to navigate when very full but I am conscious that it is a consequence of the geography in the area. The bathroom in our room did not have a shower connected to a wall, only a handheld shower head and the roof angle did hamper standing up in the bath. Whilst this was fine for myself and my husband an older couple might not navigate the bathroom well.

Very pleasant staff throughout the Hotel, lovely breakfast both mornings, had one evening meal which was good, only had a burger myself so not much to compare, my wife had the chef chicken which she thoroughly enjoyed, pity there was no shower in our room, but should of checked the description a bit better as it was noted that only a bath available on that room, the bar area was nice in the evening, my only disappointment was that when checking out there was no mention if we enjoyed our stay or if everything was fine, there were some issues so we never had the opportunity to say so , I.e fan in bathroom not working, corridor light on all night and having to put pillows at the bottom of the door to darken the room, not a big issue ...we will be back when next in Ludlow..

Communication before hand was kind and thoughtful. A table for dinner was reserved for us in case we needed it (there was not pressure to make a decision before we arrived, it was just reserved so we didn't miss out - in the end our plans evolved so we did take up the option to have dinner at the hotel and we were glad we did because it was delicious). The location, is ideal. It is beside the river in a beautiful setting but only a 5 minute walk from the centre of Ludlow The welcome - very friendly and helpful The room - it is a old building with lots of nooks and crannies but in our room they were use to their best advantage resulting in a large spacious room and an incredible en-suite The breakfast - the range of hot and continental options was more than enough. A guest at the next table was gluten free and it was lovely hear the waitress being very thorough and helpful with the various items suitable to that guest. The staff - everyone was so lovely :-)

The person who booked us in and served our table for dinner could benefit from some customer care training. Not rude, but no smile, no welcome and just neutral. I had mentioned when booking the table for us and two guests who live locally that it was a birthday for one of the party. Some restaurants would have made something of this with something extra. This evening experience contrasts with the lady at breakfast who was delightful and exemplary. Sorry - but you did ask!

The location was excellent. Very impressed with the food, breakfast and evening meal was beautiful. The roof top bar was fantastic overlooking the river but unfortunately the weather wasn't great so we couldn't take advantage of this, but would have loved to.

I didn't realise our room was right over the road and traffic lights. Although the windows had clearly been made double glazed it didn't shut the noise out so would prefer to be over the river. Also I wasn't happy being woken up at 7.45am to be asked if I had checked out early. Not sure why this happened but I couldn't get back to sleep after that.

Beautiful location overlooking river. Watched ducks, heron and an Otter whilst eating breakfast. Very friendly, efficient staff. Pleasant welcoming atmosphere in the two bars.

Would have preferred room not overlooking road, right over traffic lights so could be noisy if window open. Would ask to choose room now I know location. Husband loved the food. I’m vegetarian and unfortunately didn’t like the two main options on days we stayed but starters were good.

My friend and I shared a twin room. It was inadequate for 2 adults. This room is suitable only as a single room. Two narrow single beds have been squeezed into the small space. The room has no storage at all so my friend and I had to keep all our belongings in our cases. For an overnight stay this may be regarded as adequate but not for our stay of 4 nights.

Stayed in a 'small double', which was accurate but room was fine for one night. Room was nicely decorated with a great view across the river to Ludlow. Good breakfast (with even better views). Hotel is 10 minutes walk from the town centre, or 30 minutes if you take the scenic route behind the hotel with views of the town and castle. Didn't try the restaurant as a function on so no comment on the food, but we did eat at the sister establishment The Church pub and that was nice. (Someone from the Charlton did ring a week ahead and offered to book a table there for us which was thoughtful).

Nothing much, very nice small hotel.

The property felt very upscale, especially at winter off season prices. The breakfast was very nice. The bowls that were available to eat cereal or yogurt out of were very fun and quirky and we were able to find them for sale at the nearby home and garden store just across the river as a keepsake from our lovely stay. The pub itself was very cosy feeling and I would suggest planning to have a meal there in addition to the breakfast. The food in general was very rich. I really loved the fact that the property is right on the river and had nice views from our room and the dining room. There were also great woodland walks you could do starting right at the property. Some of the rooms are below the pub right on the river and the others are above.

Another guest set off the fire alarm with the steam from the shower in the morning. I don’t blame the property at all, but seems good to mention as a warning to avoid leaving the bathroom door open when taking a hot shower. The food at the restaurant was really nice but as a vegetarian I would have struggled to eat multiple dinners there in a row. The castle in Ludlow has limited opening times in the off season so plan ahead.
