Charming little hotel in Summertown, just a short bus ride from Oxford city centre (the buses you can just tap on with a credit card which is very handy!) with some excellent (even starred) restaurants in the area, plus some cheaper ones, plus a good supermarket and other shops just up the road from the hotel. So, a very nice area to stay in and away from tourist hustle and bustle. We had a twin room with a clean, spacious modern bathroom, and the room itself was very nicely furnished and decorated, with comfortable beds with good linen etc. Friendly and helpful staff, the reception areas were decorated with good taste and quirky interesting pieces, breakfast in the large conservatory (with views of the garden) was good, lots of fresh fruit and a hot English breakfast etc, and only one thing - probably time to get one of those auto-coffee machine where guests can press an option and make a cappuccino or espresso etc. Lots of hotels have them now in their breakfast areas. Other than that one small thing (I'm a coffee person) it was a charming hotel and I would very happily stay at again if visiting Oxford.

Location good for both Oxford and Bicester. Oxford walkable in half an hour or a bus every 10 mins from outside the hotel. Bicester 20 mins drive. Had a single room which was small but had what I needed. Try booking direct it may be cheaper.

It was quite expensive for basically a posh B&B. Check around for best rates.

A second visit and won't be the last. Lovely spacious rooms with very comfortable beds and luxurious linen. The shower woked well. Exceptionally helpful staff. The outdoor space and breakfast area is lovely. Location: a short bus trip into central Oxford with the bus stop right outside (car park is £10 per day). For those seeking real quiet, book a room at the back of the building.

Small details in the bathroom could have been improved, like having a loo roll holder, having a toilet flush that isn't immediately behind the raised toilet lid, and having a little ledge in the shower for soap/shampoo.

The decor of this hotel is the nicest and most unique I've ever experienced and the staff were lovely. The neighbourhood has great bars, cafes and restaurants within 60 seconds walk and it's also very close to the middle of Oxford if you want to explore (which I highly recommend!) Parking was super easy to access and plentiful.

The only issue that we had was that the weather was quite warm when we visited and due to the historic exterior of the building being protected, the owners don't have permission to add air conditioning. We had the windows open to help with the heat but since we were on the ground floor at the front of the hotel there was a lot of noise due to traffic. Luckily we had brought ear plugs with us and those did the trick.

It was great to be out of downtown Oxford but so easy to get to it by bus which stops right outside location. Very easy to get to town and only a few dollars on bus. The staff was very friendly and the main host showed us to our room himself upon arrival which was kind of him. The place is very curated in design so felt like a unique and special place to stay. Rooms and beds are nice and bathroom very clean and well designed. Don't miss the large and nice work out room in basement as well worth it.

The weather was hot during our stay so glad there was a fan in the room. But it was still quite hot at night even with windows open. Perhaps because our room was located higher up and on the back side of the building, overlooking the parking area where the sun hits more? Perhaps investing in an updated fan style like the Dyson ones with a cooling air option could be helpful. Additionally, they occupy less space in rooms. But otherwise we LOVED our stay! We did breakfast one day. It was ok but we not all that special if you are looking for that.

A small boutique hotel with interesting and quirky decor. Very helpful and friendly staff. The room wasn't large but comfortable, quiet, clean, and nicely decorated, with a spacious modern shower room. The only downside was no air conditioning on two very hot July nights, but the hotel provided a fan which made it bearable. A really excellent breakfast was provided for a reasonable price. A great location in an upmarket residential area, on a bus route into the centre. There is a car park at the back of the hotel, rare in this part of the city. Highly recommended for a stay in Oxford!

Almost everything about this place is amazing. The Galaxie is tastefully decorated, the staff are friendly and the property is well maintained. Definitely the nicest guesthouse that I've ever stayed in Oxford. The buffet breakfast was also incredibly good. The Galaxie is also well located close to shops and restaurants in Summertown. Only 25-30 minute walk, or ten minute bus ride to Oxford's historic city center.

I stayed in a lovely double room that was spacious and tastefully decorated. my only complaint is that the bed was too short and I had to sleep diagonally. Full disclosure: I am taller than average, at 6'2, but I'm usually fine with most hotel beds. This one was definitely short.

A lovely spacious double room overlooking the attractive back garden. Very comfortable bed and bedding, excellent lighting and a good shower. Everything we could need including hairdryer, use of iron, overhead fan, tea and coffee, fridge, plenty of sockets, good wifi, lots of storage space and a nice TV. The staff were helpful. The hotel has a unique style and a beautiful garden with lots of seats and a little waterlily pool. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel for short trips into Oxford and a spacious car park. An excellent experience and we look forward to our next stay.

Easy to drive to/find the hotel where there is a good size car park. Location also ideal as we could catch the bus to the city centre from the bus stop outside the hotel - a 7 minute ride. Very good buffet breakfast with (hot choices for English breakfast, fresh fruit, yoghurt, bread and pastries, lovely coffee) and staff very helpful and welcoming. It was a busy weekend for the hotel which was full - when we booked there was little choice but a small double room - not as comfortable as we like but adequate and good size bathroom with a nice long shelf for our toiletries and big mirror. We ate in the city centre but there are plenty of shops and restaurants in Summertown where the hotel is located.

We spent three nights here. Location great, just outside the city centre with excellent bus service outside the front door. Staff were amazing, couldn’t do enough for you. Wonderful aesthetic to the property, a complete one off, everyday you find something new to marvel at. Gorgeous garden, perfect for a cup of tea after breakfast. Breakfast itself was delicious and very reasonable considering the size of the spread, served in a beautiful setting. With Oxford being quite expensive for accommodation, The Galaxie is the perfect balance between comfortable luxury and price. Look forward to returning.

Missing a few amenities in the room. Hand wash/shower gel/bathroom bin. Nothing major and I’m sure if we had asked it would have been sorted. More of an oversight than fault.
