This lovely country guest house has 3 (that i noticed) very well appointed rooms. Each one is a great size, but especially the family room, which is effectively a suite. I booked one of the ground floor twin rooms and the family room for my group. The family room was actually a large bedroom with a double, a single and a travel cot, with plenty of extra floor space, a good sized shower room & toilet, a lounge area with couches, chairs, TV and work area, and a boxroom single. We could have moved in! Unintrusive staff offered towels and tea& coffee refresh and a cleaning service where convenient without disturbing. The carpark was a great size and the adjoining pub offered great food and a fun pub quiz.

There was nothing we didn't like. If I had to nitpick, the cord on the hairdryer in the family rooom was starting to fray (inner insulation exposed on the cable). Had they offered a breakfast, we would have taken it up because the evening meal we had on arrival was excellent.

The staff were incredibly welcoming, the food was excellent and the staff went beyond expectations to ensure that our stay was comfortable. Due to my mums mobility issues with the stairs the staff allowed us to have crockery in the flat to have breakfast reducing the need to climb up and down the stairs, a small fridge waas also provided. 10/10

The only minor issue for my mum was that the Television would not tune in to BBC1 :( The stairs were slippery when wet. The only other issue was that the menu did not include OAP size portions, kids menu available but my mum is not a sausage or chicken nuggets fan

Excellent room, good hot shower, pub restaurant very good with attentive table service, friendly chatty staff. Comfortable single bed in twin room. Useful tourist information file. Excellent electric heating units under guests control. Excellent parking with permission to park motorcycle off car park directly outside my room window Handy location travelling down through England

I missed the information on breakfast times which could have been better advertised so I went hungry! My fault I'm sure. I couldn't find a electrical socket close the head of the bed. I'll use the place again.

I tour a lot by motorcycle and almost always on own. It means a lot to stay somewhere that people make an honest effort to look after you. It was a joy to visit this part of the world but that was eclipsed by the nature of my accommodation at The Olde Peculiar.An added bonus was the fact that it was pie night. I would change my route to go back there. To all of the staff, please keep up the good work and thank you.

Absolutely nothing to fault.

Just the sweetest, friendliest place! Loved my room. Spacious, great water pressure & instant hot water, attentive & kind owner.

Some nights, pub customers or staffers hung out in the courtyard right outside the rooms late at night, which woke us up. But besides that, nice & quiet (especially Monday nights when the pub is closed.)

Location fine for the wedding reception we attended. We found it despite the sat nav dumping us on the main road. Be old school and check a map or Google earth if you book.

Breakfast could have been provided, even a continental one is better than nothing. We took a picnic as we guessed there were no cafes near by. Worked as we had use of the family room, would have been cramped in twin rooms.

Accommodation is separate to the pub and I only heard a little noise from there. Nothing to complain about. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff I encountered were really lovely and helpful.

The only thing that was a concern was the Wi-Fi wasn’t as secure as it could be so bear that in mind.

Parking was off road and with a good amount of space Room was a nice size with good facilities Pub was very friendly, and Wednesday's had a Pie night which has had a variety of different pies to try each week

Personally I found the shower cubical a little small, but I don't this it could have been improved due to the buildings history

Great place to stay - beautiful part of the country on the canal and near to Cannock Chase. The family room was great.

We missed the fact that the pub closes Sunday and Monday meaning there is no option for dinner or breakfast on those days, but we cycled to the pub in Rugeley and managed to get food.

The Old Peculiar is what it is !. Staff were excellent. Service was excellent. The food was excellent. Food and drink were very reasonably priced. A little dated all round, but the staff made up for it.

A little dated. The TV remote would not work...not a deal breaker just a bit frustrating..
