Character property with an excellent service and brilliant food. We we staying for a visit to Cannock Chase and pretty much everything about the stay was spot on. Excellent warm welcome and check in process, bags carried up to room, great evening meal in the restaurant. Nice walk around the grounds. Place is modern and well presented considering that its been around since the 1500's fascinating to read the history of the place. Continental Breakfast was fresh and generous, with the option of paying extra for the cooked. We didn't feel the need and left very full anyway.

It's an old building, think narrow corridors, "mind your head" beams and big rocks in the walls. Don't expect a lift. Might not be great if you had accessibility issues.

Room was spacious and comfortable with lovely soft towels and bathrobe. TV clear sound. Plenty of toiletries and refreshments. Continental breakfast plentiful with lovely fresh fruit selection and excellent service from breakfast staff. Unfortunately did not notice the name of lady who served us.

The outside seating area was sunny but suffered from loud traffic noise. We ate at restaurant but found the main course far too salty so did not eat evening meal there again. Rather a lot of stairs to carry our cases to our room with no offer of help.

The building, our bedroom and the staff were fantastic, really welcoming. The restaurant served a good array of dishes without being overwhelming. The dishes we chose were very good.

One very, very small niggle was the brightness of the green, smoke alarm light in our room. It appeared as if we had left a light on accidentally and made it difficult to fall asleep. This is a problem we have encountered in many of the hotels we have visited. The staff made a note and informed us that this was being addressed. This is more a manufacturer/safety issue rather than a hotel problem - surely manufacturers stay in hotels themselves?

The luxury suite room was amazing, absolutely massive, with a four poster exceptionally comfortable bed, and all the facilities in the room, very nice ensuite, a television that worked etc. Good views, quiet. exceptional room. See photos! Pleased to have a member of staff volunteer to take our luggage up three long flights. Pleased that we didn't coincide with a wedding or event.

Three floors to climb, no lift, is a bit of a disadvantage we perhaps didn't fully expect. Two floors down for breakfast, which was continental with the rate we had paid, cooked breakfast extra - but at least we had the choice and were not paying for something we didn't want. We were not sure whether we had found the hotel reception or just the restaurant. But overall nothing significant! Still exceptional!

Almost everything .Check in was organised with everything ready for us. The bedrooms were fine and adjacent as requested. note the doors do not self lock so need to use the key when leaving the room. We had drinks in the cellar bar at very reasonable prices with a large open fire to warm us. The evening meal in the cellar restaurant was great with very efficient service even though it was busy. Continental breakfast was complimentary but we had the full fry up, again excellent.

The bedrooms were situated on the 3rd floor accessed by flights of stairs as there is no lift. My request for a piggy back was not taken up but they would take our luggage for us.

Comfy beds, bottled water & tea/coffee provided in rooms & the meals were excellent with the chef providing a good choice of gluten & dairy free meal options along with the regular choice. Always outstanding when you find everyone is catered for and with choice. Food was delicious, good selection of breakfast items (cooked items extra £) along with gf cereal and non dairy milks & yoghurt available too. Lots of comfy armchairs and sofas to sit at or lovely topiary garden outside when the weather is good. Everything was clean and staff very friendly and helpful. But as ALL bedrooms are on top floor and no lift - this is not to place to stay if have mobility issues and stairs are a challenge! But do come for a meal.

Only small thing but Breakfast on first morning did take a long time for any staff to come out and check if any guests waiting in breakfast room for service. Had to go find them in the end. Second morning wasn’t an issue.

THE MUSIC, the staff apologised that they couldn’t changed the music, didn’t use the bar as much as we might have since we were forced to listen to terrible music - Nellie the elephant at one point! Cannot escape the music as it is piped inside and outside of the hotel even in the restaurant. Please think about changing it. The staff kindly turned it down for us.

The hotel is beautiful everything you could ever wish for from a mini break. Large spacious room with excellent facilities. The grounds outside the Hall are gorgeous. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food excellent.

The only thing was the tea cups in the room were tiny. Not ideal for tea-aholics. The kettle has the electrical cord & plug attached, which is a bit of a worry when filling in the sink as you have to make sure the plug doesn't get wet.

High quality food both evening meal and continental breakfast. Great property character with good location. Very nice room with high ceiling and great view.

Decorators blocking the staircase. Elderly relative came down the staircase for breakfast to be sent back up to attempt to find the other staircase. Its quite a maze of navigation. Having said that he was helped with his baggage earlier which was greatly appreciated. Some staff are more helpful than others. Hot tap turned the wrong way! Strange green ceiling light illuminating the bed all night!

Lovely room with great views, tea and coffee making, super toiletries, robes, comfy beds etc. Food was excellent, plentiful and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly, particularly Amy the reception/reception manager. Amy gave us a warm welcome, had a great sense of humour and ensured we had a great stay. Amy is a treasure and an asset to the hotel.
