The staff were very nice and accommodating. We needed extra fans and a room change due to the road traffic. Our first room was right on the road and we had to keep the windows open due to the heat wave. The food was fabulous. I loved being able to eat right there. Breakfast lunch and dinner were all tremendous. The breakfast was included and was abundant. I had the Burrata salad for dinner and had to go back and eat it again for lunch the next day. Prices were very reasonable.

I really can't say I disliked something other than we stayed during a heat wave and the rooms were very hot.

From the moment we arrived , the staff made us feel at home . The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting , with thoughtful gestures and touches . Our room was clean , cosy and comfortable . Beautifully decorated . Breakfast was plentiful in choice and cooked to perfection . A perfect spot for our needs . Thank you. A great place to stay in Penkridge .

one tiny suggestion : the blackboards displaying room numbers , only went up to 10, which caused a little confusion for us in room 12 . Especially , as we were late into the evening , entering to find our room , carrying cases up stairs , unsure if they were heading the right way . It didnt cause any real issues , but a quick update to the signage would make the experience even smoother .

Excellent sized room. Stayed in a superior double on the 2nd floor which had a large bedroom and large bathroom with lovely high ceilings.

The sound of the extractor/cooling fans from outside was noticeable but didn't affect my sleep. Evening staff were very friendly and helpful but the morning staff member at check out was on the computer. Didn't look up or even acknowledge I was waiting to check out. In the end a member of domestic staff addressed me and helped with check out EDIT: I received a phonecall from the hotel explaining the situation at check out. The member of staff wasn't front of house staff but has been advised on customer service. This follow up on the review was important and I have amended this review

A very old building with interesting features. Our bedroom was comfortable and clean with good en-suite facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the bar and restaurant was well designed-bright and welcoming without losing the charm of an old hostelry. We ate there and the food was excellent both at dinner and at breakfast the following morning, though expect to enjoy a leisurely meal. This is not fast food, though the service was friendly and attentive.

It is on a busy road, so don’t expect peace and quiet. We stayed on a hot day and found the room stuffy. The sash window would not stay open and there was too much noise anyway. There was a small desk fan, but this was not sufficient to cool the room. This hotel is dog friendly and personally I would have preferred that there was a dedicated eating area where dogs are allowed.

The evening meal was absolutely gorgeous, the pub is stunning and the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. The vibe in the pub was busy and friendly and really enjoyable. The breakfast was out of this world! We couldn't believe it was included in the price!!! Great coffee too! I have already recommended The Littleton Arms to 2 friend who travel North from London as a great Gem of a place to stay. We will most definitely be staying again on our way up to visit my son at Liverpool University. JUST GORGEOUS!

There was nothing not to like

The bar and restaurant are spacious and friendly staff greet you and explain everything. Dinner of sea bass and veg was delicious. The building is quirky with low doors and sloping floors and there is presently refurbishments going on but this wasn't a problem. The bed was comfy but as the room was so warm had to keep the window open which was above the hotel's noisy extractor. I would stay again but not in room 9. Great coffee at breakfast.

Breakfast poached eggs were a little overdone and there were 4 of them, bit of a waste as I couldn't eat that many.

There was a warm welcome when I arrived The bedroom I was given Room 6 was perfect for the night - lovely and clean , bed was 7/10 comfortable , also had extra pillows - shower room was spacious and clean - water in the shower wasn’t really warm but was adequate The main bonus of staying here is a the lovely food It’s incredibly close to the M6 and hugely convenient as an overnight stop

Room 6 seems to be rather close to a water tank which kept filling up so a bit noisy I couldn’t open the window for fresh air

Our room, bar area and restaurant were spotless. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The room was comfortable, a little warm but easily resolved by opening a window. Loved the ambiance of the place. We stayed Saturday and Sunday and, even though the place is so very busy almost all of the time, we never felt uncomfortable and found somewhere to sit whenever we wanted to be downstairs. We didn’t have a meal here but spoke to a cpl of people who did, they all said how beautiful the food was (especially the lamb on Sunday it seemed!). We didn’t experience any noise whatsoever over night. Slept very well. The staff are fantastic, many are very young and have the most lovely attitude and customer focus. I would be interested in how far they all walk each working shift, they never seemed to stand still! Very attentive, smiley and polite. Thank you very much.

Honestly, we stay away extensively and thought this place was slightly overpriced by £10-£15 a night to that of comparable stays elsewhere in Staffordshire and beyond.

We found this gem a year ago, and we have come back again this year (it is a half way stop to where our final destination is ) and we plan again on staying here next year for this same trip x there is an excellent restaurant and beautifully decorated bar and outside area downstairs . The rooms are clean and spacious . Tea and coffee facilities provided as well if you wake up early as breakfast on weekends starts at 8am x

Everything is great

Beautiful historic inn located in the centre of Penkridge village. Friendly team, clearly very popular pub and restaurant with good outside space to relax and enjoy a drink. Plenty of parking at the venue. Dog friendly and able to enjoy a delicious meal in the bar area with our dog under our table. Comfy room. Great base location for visiting National Trust properties in the surrounding countryside.
