Location was perfect as we were attending an outdoor concert at Cannock chase in the evening. All staff members we had the pleasure of speaking to were very helpful and polite. The rooms were spacious and clean. Restaurant and bar were very well stocked and were very efficient. To sit by the lake having a lovely glass of wine or 2 in the glorious sunshine, was a real bonus! The hotel was extremely quiet even though I believe it was fully booked So all in all a very pleasant and relaxing stay and we would definitely stay again

I did receive a lot of messages before we stayed in regards to booking a table for dinner. These could have been a little less

The best aspect of our stay was probably the restaurant, both for the evening meal and breakfast the following morning. The food and service were both excellent, but the evening meal genuinely was a surprise in quality, eating from the more reasonably- priced early bird menu as well. We were also pleased with our room, which was restful, comfortable and clean: the bathroom was spotlessly clean and towels a good size and condition. The advantages of the location became more apparent in bright sunshine next day, as we arrived in late afternoon on a Winter's day, when it was already dusk. The adjacent canal and ponds gave the hotel a feeling of being surrounded by a moat, which especially made breakfast in the restaurant a visual and memorable experience. The setting of Acton Trussell seemed to be in pleasant countryside which looked inviting for walks and wider exploration.

The M6 is within sight of the hotel, although the sound was not noticeable or intrusive within the hotel.

Location and immediate grounds beautiful. Very remote/out of the way of towns. The evening meal was exceptional, also my husband had a full English breakfast which he fully enjoyed. Extras bread, fruit and yogurt really nice The room was comfortable nice and clean. The staff were mostly very helpful.

View from room was limited and room a bit small. I found the eggs Benedict for breakfast was disappointing. No where to go on foot outside of the hotel. Would very much benefit from a swimming pool I believe

I had the most amazing breakfast and the lady who served me was the friendliest and most helpful manager ever. I noticed the cleaner on a Sunday morning doing the most excellent job on the way to the restaurant and he smiled so beautifully it was memorable, I felt very welcome and exceptionally well treated. It made my stay. Also the lady who checked me in was extremely dog friendly and kind. She helped me with my luggage and made sure I had a lovely cozy quiet room even thought the loud wedding was going at full volume. She made sure I was as important as their other guests. It was a real treat. Thank you.

It was perfect.

We loved staying here! It was booked as a birthday present for my partner who enjoys staying at nice hotels and he loved it. The room was big and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We went for dinner in the bar which was exquisite and the breakfast was just as amazing with plenty of choice. There was a wedding on but you wouldn't have known it unless you'd seen it walking in. There was no noise or major impact for those not attending the wedding. The staff were also lovely. We will definately be back for food and for a stay!

The only negative was that the aircon did not work. Unfortunately, we stayed on one of the hottest nights of the year so this did impact our comfort and sleep which was not ideal. The staff found us fans to help us cool.down the room as much as possible as there was no spare room to move us too but despite this we would stay again.

Beautiful decor, olde worlde feel to the place. The bedroom (suite) was a big surprise as it was an unexpected upgrade. Staff were friendly & accommodating. A couple of gluten free choices at lunchtime & for breakfast

Only one gluten free option in the ‘late night snacks’ menu. The bar only had crisps & peanuts after 9.30 pm so if like us get you get back late you have to order from the room service menu in the room The telephone didn’t work but no great need for it except when looking for instructions for the coffee machine - there weren’t any so had to walk to reception to ask for help.

The property was in a quiet location. The facilities were very good. The food was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was well equipped.

The bed was not the most comfy and could feel/hear bed springs. Consequently did not have the best nights sleep. We booked a table in the restaurant and although the food was excellent the service was a little slow though we were aware there was a wedding party and a very busy bar and restaurant so we understood.

What a find, a fantastic hotel in a great location and it's much bigger than the pictures suggest. Although we only booked a standard room for our one night stay we were really impressed, a great size room with very good furnishings and an extremely comfortable bed. We had an evening meal in the bar/restaurant which was faultless along with fantastic service, our breakfast the following morning again was amazing. The hotel has ample parking with electric charging points available also.

Friendly welcome. The room was spacious, lovely and clean with a superking and a single bed. Comfy beds and pillows. There were plenty of mirrors and sockets. Powerful shower and lovely smelling toiletries . The hotel was quiet overnight and we had a good night sleep. Breakfast was lovely. Plenty to choose from. Continental and full English. Soya milk available if you ask. We had a lovely view from the breakfast room. Lift available. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends. It was £12.50 taxi from Stafford train station

Lovely location, nice buildings facilities and staff.

The flies. They were baaaaad. Understandably, it’s a moat so water = lots of insects etc and it was a very hot weekend, but when you’re trying to eat a meal and constantly wafting flies away, you start to lose your sense of humour. Probably need to invest more in reducing flies in the building? Shame, as otherwise all very good.
