Parking secure and convenient, reasonable at £5 per day. We were made to feel welcome by all staff, and we received friendly, attentive service throughout our stay. Convenient location in the middle of Thame; we were with the Midsomer Murders Society, and the Spread Eagle itself is one of several filming locations in Thame. There's an excellent location guide in the nearby bookshop. The pre-booked lunch and buffet dinner were very good. Excellent selection at breakfast - they provided a smaller veggie breakfast for me, as I requested. We look forward to returning next year with the Society.
Not a single real ale on tap. There was a Timothy Taylor's Landlord beer towel on the bar, but they don't serve it. The only beers on offer were electric-pumped Camden Pale Ale, which looks more like an American lager; and Guinness. Luckily the nearby pubs have a better offering, including one which offers 13 beers on tap, including four hand pumps.

Ideal location on the high street, rooms at the back so very quiet. Rooms large and clean. We had 2 dogs so chose a garden room as it had doors out into a grassed court area shared with the other garden rooms. It was ideal for us and the dogs. Plenty of space in the room to put the dog crates and still be able to walk around. Would definitely stay there again.
Breakfast was a little slow and even though we went in at 08:30, several of the continental items (pastries) had run out, plates for toast etc had to be asked for, also hot water and bread for toast. I think all of this was due to only 1 staff member being on duty in the dining room and there being quite a few in for breakfast between 08:00-08:30. The lady herself was very polite and doing her best but it required 2 members of staff waiting on in the dining room at breakfast time.

Location. Room was nice and bed comfy. Shower was powerful, but too hot, couldn't seem to get it to be any cooler.
Breakfast was terrible, only 2 girls serving lots of guests, very busy and chaotic. Husband asked for vegi Breakfast and were told no vegi sausages, ok but he could have extra egg. His Breakfast came with 1 egg, nothing extra, except a meat sausage, when we queried it, waitress apologized and asked for my napkin to remove it! I just put it on my plate and husband was ok. But beans cold and was very poor. They couldn't cope with the amount of guests as there had been a wedding the night before.

We have previously stayed at the Spread Eagle. However, this time we stayed in one of the garden rooms. It was very nice. Spacious with a wardrobe, chest of drawers and side cabinets so, plenty of room to back clothes and items away. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept well. The restaurant food was delicious, simple traditional english food very well cooked. We had the fish and chips both evenings and it was lovely, not at all greasy. The breakfast choice was also very good, with a buffet for cereals and extra toast if you wanted it, and also cooked breakfast options. We paid half board which meant that we had up to £30.00 to spend on our evening meal, which was more than enough for two courses. The deal was excellent value. Note there is a nice spacious car park to the rear of the hotel but you do have to pay £5.00 a day. On the plus side, you get a full day so, even if you check out at 11.00am on Sunday, you can still be parked in the carpark which is very useful. We will definitely stay at the Spread Eagle again. It is definitely becoming a favourite of ours. The only reason we didn't give the rating as excellent was because of the issues that we had with the shower and tv. Hopefully when we next stay it will all be perfect it the rating will be 5 stars.
The rooms' central heating wasn't on but there was an electric heater which we used and was very efficient as it made the room nice and warm. We had an issue with the overheard shower which only ran cold and very oddly the television red light (standby) flashed blue in the middle of the night which woke my partner up. When we mentioned these issues with the hotel manager he was very apologetic and didn't charge us for the wine that we had had with our evening meal.

We had a garden room, it was lovely and had a patio area outside where we sat and had a coffee in the morning. Also the location of the room was very quiet. Very comfortable large double bed. Would definitely stay in a garden room again.
Have stayed here a few times before, didn’t really like the change of breakfast service, you now have to go to the bar area to help yourself to tea and coffee, the jugs they use are hopeless, and waiting while others use the jugs. Previously we had pots of tea brought to the table and coffee was also brought to the table, which I much prefer. You also had to do your own toast, not a very relaxing breakfast.

Parking on site good. Check in good. Incl. taking car reg no for parking. Room good size and clean with adequate hanging for clothes. Shower ok. Tea/coffee and biscuits provided. Ground floor room was close to the dinner and breakfast and not noisy. Good size TV. Food for the County Dinner was good in quality with a lovely piece of salmon but could have been hotter. Local high street and shops a very short walk away.
Hot water took a long time to come to the hand basin although not to the shower. One of the shower fittings was broken and one bedside light did not come on. The bed was big but a little on the firm side for us.

The staff were good and very helpful. The lady running the bar deserves and extra special mention. Our room was on the upper floor and in the original part of the hotel, so nothing is level including the floor! The room was well equipped and the bed was comfortable. The shower was large and the water hot. Breakfast was well presented and good quality. The Spread Eagle is in the centre of Thame and close to the main bus stops and car parks. There is a pay and display car park at the rear of the hotel. The cost is £5 for 24 hours.
Sadly the hotel is beginning to look tired and quite a lot of maintenance work is needed. Although our room was clean the paint around the window was very old and peeling and some of the wall paper not in the best condition.

I've booked many times now for my father-in-law, as we live locally. He's had fantastic rooms (garden view with A HUGE bed are favourite), and has always thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast! Although I may book myself in one day - he always has a room with a bath - we only have shower facilities so a bath is a very much sort after luxury!!!
The fluctuation in prices. For the same room I've paid a varying amount of around £25 to £30, which doesn't sound a lot but due to convenience I have booked quite often so far this year. I can't really criticise the popularity of the hotel, but a few times I've not been able to book 1 or 2 days ahead. It's annoying as you the only decent hotel nearby.

Room was fab, and the bathroom was spacious with a nice bath.
The restaurant and bar were closed for a private fuction on the night of our stay. This seems a little unfair as we had no prior notification of this and so the booking was made with the hotel advertising such facilities. Therefore I can't help but feel a bit miffed that no part of the bar or restaurant area was kept for residents, or that we had not been informed when booking.
