Breakfast great but you do have to offer everything including juice! Hotel is more like an inn, very quirky, vintage feel but v charming. Personally I didn’t like the Paine coming off the walls but was probably ‘shabby chic’ look! Room absolutely spotless… lovely tray of teas and coffees water biscuits all replenished daily … housekeeping v prompt and thorough! The place runs a lovely restaurant just across way which served superb food. Location superb literally just off shopping street…We would definitely return and that’s the best compliment

Yes definitely the scraped paint in tnr room just not nice and stairs and corridor looked a bit scruffy but room was superb then.

This was our second stay at the Crown & Thistle. The room is very big and has a temperature control which is great for setting the room temperature to your optimum when you want to sleep. The food was great as always and able to accommodate allergies well. I would recommend booking for dinner. The portions are huge so you never feel like you will go hungry! There is a wide range of breakfast options as you have the whole menu to choose from - if you're staying more than one night I would recommend trying a few options.

There was nothing that's a deal beeaker. The parking is very small so it is possible to struggle to get parking on a busy night.

Breakfast and food service were both good. Breakfast was excellent, actually! It's clearly an old coaching inn, and the car park is tricky to find, but worth it. Lots of cobblestones and stairs which (is picturesque, but) isn't ideal for older people with dodgy knees (husband) and our room (Honeymoon suite) was furthest away, up and downstairs, round corners etc. It definitely had charm and we loved the central location, when we went for a walk the following morning. The bathroom soap etc are all sustainable and smelled lovely, also we had lovely big towels and bathrobes.

The room was in the back of beyond and the stair carpet was worn and torn. The cobblestones were very uneven and could have been lethal in heels. The room was old and tired. The bath was deep and luxurious but dirty underneath, the bathroom had mould on the wall and the extractor fan didn't work (but the hotel extractor fan next to it did work and made noise all night) there was traffic noise, which didn't bother us, but may deter others for paying extra for this room. The bed squeaked and could have done with a new mattress. All in all, not value for money, sadly.

Central location. Include parking. All staff were superb and really could not do more, really noticed you as a guest, rather than you being just another person in the restaurant. Room was well proportioned, cleaned daily, fresh towels given. Had breakfast included in room rate which was delicious, ate one evening in restaurant, again very good food with plentiful portions

Not a dislike more an observation, communal areas of hotel in need of attention, carpets wearing on stairways, decorating needed.

I just loved the ambience and the aesthetic… so many lovely surprises like the toiletries, huge bath sheets of a wonderful fluffy quality, the size of our room and the fact it had a full length mirror - the provision of robes and a lighted cosmetic mirror - all exceeded my expectations

The only niggle was that the lighting was inadequate- no central light in the room and all of the lamps having black shades meant it was difficult to see whilst getting ready for our event . Having an additional free standing directional lamp would be good. But as everything else was so lovely this was a minor point

Olde worlde - nice decor - lovely bathrooms - super breakfast - friendly staff - clean - room v comfortable. Some nice touches. Would happily stay in Room 3 again.

Carpets are v tired in some areas - proper coffee in room would be great to have even if coffee bags - armchair in room would have been appreciated (was just stool in Room 3 but room plenty big enough for proper chair) - cafe area downstairs not as nice/cosy as rest of hotel - Sunday evening meal meal with friends was variable - starters v good and my main v tasty (fish&chips) but my friends not as happy (roast dinner was refunded - thank you). Staff excellent.

Room was cosy and quaint. (Upgraded for free to Executive with Booking.com so really good price and included breakfast.) Lots of old beams and wonky floor. Roll top bath with lovely overhead rain shower. Really liked the toiletries too. Big, white, fluffy towels. Bed was comfy and plenty of pillows. Room was nice and warm too and double glazing kept most of noise at bay. Even though fire door outside our room we never heard it closing. Ironing board and iron in room too. Breakfast was included with the deal we had which was plentiful and good choices.

Mirror in bathroom bit too high is you are a shorty, also switch for bathroom fan way too high. No drawers for clothing should you be staying more than one or two nights and nowhere to put suitcase other than floor. No chairs either other than one for desk. Room for at least one armchair I would say and small chest of drawers. Beware! Drinks are really expensive!! Food also expensive which would put us off going again unless maybe a for special occasion. Shame as food good. Service for breakfast was really slow, yes food cooked to order but very slow service. Maybe understaffed?? Had to ask for mushrooms and tomatoes as had been forgotten on my plate.

We were given an upgrade on our room( which was an added bonus ) very spacious, it was the honeymoon suite !! Although we were celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary, my wife is 76 and I am 88, so we had a great laugh about it,, breakfast was good, although some fresh fruit and yogurt would have been nice, on the whole we had a great time,the buses were right outside the hotel and Abbingdon is such a nice place to stay, plenty of walks along the river Thames

We had one problem, the water in the shower was so hot and we couldn't regulate it and so we had to use the bath which was a roll top and really hard to get out of, (bearing in mind our age !!!)

Really good location, easy to find, next to all town centre amenities and river Thames a 2 minute walk. Plenty of space to sit inside and outside. Ate in restaurant for dinner and breakfast, service very good and we all enjoyed the food and felt it was good value for money. The building was full of character and history, wonky floors and doors really were part of the experience. We are definitely going to stay there again

The room was as pictured, it was very clean and the facilities were good. It was lovely to have a freestanding bath and air-conditioning as the weather was very warm. The breakfast menu was great and the cooked breakfasts we had were delicious and really good quality. It was very handy to have free parking on site as well, and the staff were friendly.

It was all really good, but the parking was a bit difficult to find and the instructions provided by the hotel weren't particularly helpful. It would have been useful to have a bit more detail/better directions provided to help us find it.
