Beautiful homely cottage had everything we needed. Great freshly made breakfadt served each morning. Loved seeing the horses first thing. It was the perfect stay.

It was a nice cottage in a lovely working farm. Our toddler loved seeing the horses, cows, chickens and the tractor. The owner was kind and allowed us to feed the horses some carrots and chase the MANY chickens which was great fun for our son.

The floors are very noisy and although there was a lot of space, we felt that it would have been difficult to make it work if there was more than 2 families (one of the bathrooms being downstairs means that you will have to go down the noisy stairs and wake everyone up in middle of the night to use the toilet). Our toddler didn’t enjoy seeing the spider in our bedroom which is not the fault of the owners in our view but if your children are afraid of crawlies then maybe avoid!

Lovely working farm in a lovely secluded location. We had a walk around and saw chickens, cows and of course the horses outside our window and out on the field. We had a bit of a hiccup to start as the room had not been cleaned. The host was apologetic and got it sorted. He suggested we take a short drive to Castle Combe which we did and it was absolutely beautiful. We had a curry delivered in the evening from a local takeaway and it was very quick and very good! The breakfast was bought to our room at our requested time and was amazing!

It is a farm! So be prepared for cockerels crowing and horses neighing and horse boxes and early mucking out! If you embrace it, it’s absolutely beautiful.

Charming farmhouse. Nestled in a peaceful location, it offered a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The surrounding views were adding to the overall tranquil atmosphere. The house itself was incredibly spacious, providing ample room to relax and unwind. It was well-equipped and thoughtfully laid out, making it perfect for families or groups. One of the standout features was the beautiful fireplace, which added a cozy, inviting touch to the living area—ideal for those chilly evenings. Another highlight was the breakfast. It was absolutely delicious. Overall, I highly recommend this farmhouse for anyone seeking a peaceful retreat with all the comforts of home.

We arrived late in the dark, and everything was readily available to us. The property manager/owner was very responsive. More than the four of us (myself, my husband and our two tween sons) could have easily fit in the space. The master bed was large and very comfortable with good bedding - an unexpected highlight. The unit was very spacious with a large dining table. I was also pleased that there were numerous knives, all of which were reasonably sharp (this was not the case at a number of other places we stayed). There was a helpful little booklet highlighting some worthwhile nearby sights. The simple breakfast was delivered right to our dining room table despite us missing the cutoff to put out our breakfast request as we arrived late, and was hot and delicious. The best scrambled eggs I had all trip! There was also a vegetarian/vegan option. The boys loved being able to see the horses in their stable. The property was very scenic and the sunrise was gorgeous over the fields. We had hoped for a more natural farmhouse-style stay, and this is exactly what we enjoyed. We wished we had more time to enjoy the setting. 8.5/10

The furniture in the sitting room was worn but serviceable. The floors were squeaky as might be expected in a farmhouse. We had wondered if this would wake us if someone got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, but we all slept so soundly that no one woke up to test this!

Great location. Clean. Good breakfast. Being on a farm was great for the kids. Heating and hot water amazing. Showers really good. Great check in. WiFi amazing. Beautiful house. Horses fab. House smells lovely.

Not very well equipped. No hand towels. Not enough plates. Lots of chips in mugs etc. Shower towels thin, worn and small. No coffee machine. Old fridge dirty. No saucepans. No vegetable peeler. No oven gloves. No disinfectant. Better curtains needed - let light in no curtains at all. Dishwasher please. Recycling???

Amazing value! Wonderful stable conversion, so lovingly built. There's a fully equipped kitchen, a washing mashine and a drying rack too. The wifi was good. The bed was comfortable and the couches as well. The owner is very friendly and he cooks a mean breakfast. It is on a farm in the quiet countryside. I would recommend this to everyone as a home base to explore the beautiful cotswolds.

I didn't like the showerhead/rain shower combo and the shower head holder was a bit broken And i didn't like that we only stayed 1 night. Would have loved to have stayed longer.

We loved Battens Farm Cottages. We stayed with our 3 children and they really enjoyed the farm, especially seeing the cows and horses through the window whilst eating our lovely traditional farmhouse breakfast cooked by Farmer Mike. The cottage was really clean and had everything we needed for our stay.

We loved the property, but it could probably do with some darker curtains in a couple of the bedrooms. Otherwise perfect.

Fantastic. Everything you could need. My daughter and I lived it and didn't want to leave. Horses in the field and they're so friendly. They let us stroke them, they walked over to us as soon as they saw us. The apartment is beautiful and there's a patio with a table to sit and and admire the view. Breakfast 😋 too. Will definitely go back.

The ONLY complaint is incredibly minor......no fan and it was soooo hot.

great, filling breakfast, loved having the self-catering option, owner helped us lit fire which kept property very warm and cosy. nice view of stable. everything was clean and loved the interior especially the pics of animals on the walls. perfect for a day away from the city.

as students we didnt have a car and the location was a bit hard to access. we booked chippenham cabs to get to and from the cottage but had a bit of trouble with checking out on time bc no availability of cabs for a while. so location may be iffy for students or people without cars but if u know how to get around with cabs and book them in advance, i think it's still worth the extra time as it is a perfect location for a relaxing holiday away from everything else.
