Check in was good, very helpful receptionist. The breakfast options were plentiful and I appreciate the cooked breakfast, made to order, options. Service was friendly, attentive and swift. All staff I encountered were friendly. The hotel is really old! I like the period features and the quirkiness of it. Though lugging up a really heavy suitcase op a flight a stairs is a challenge on its own.
When arriving late for breakfast certain option were not available (pastries, croissants) also no cheese or cold meats - I understand there isn't a cooler/fridge, but I did miss it. The room (#2) was right above the HVAC extractor, and I it woke me up several times during my stay, every time it switched off I really noticed the quietness. Usually I went to bed quite tired, but it did affect my sleep quite a bit. Also the floor in room 2 is a little slanted, well it is an old building. but it took me by surprise when I noticed it. I was explained that it isn't supposed to run at night.

The room was lovely, the hotel itself is lovely very easy to find and great parking checking in was very easy and very pleasant.
The pub is nice, good beer, the staff all seemed like they were brand new to the job. My wife and I had two breakfasts in there and they managed to get one of the orders completely wrong, we had one dinner in there, and we were served our main course before our starters. Which were taken back, and obviously just left under heat lamps while we got and ate our starters. Also we had a meal deal two mains and two drinks for a set price . Although we had two rounds of drinks and were charged for both rounds, so overall not the best service ever

What I did like about the hotel was the location, it was great. The service was good. The staff were pleasant. The food was really enjoyable. The restaurant and bar area were nice, comfortable and had a relaxed atmosphere. The room we stayed in was very spacious. The bathroom had everything you would need and we enjoyed our stay. It was very reasonably priced and included breakfast but I can't comment on the breakfast as we unfortunately had to leave early.
The only negative would have been how comfortable the bed was in room 3. It was a good size, pillows and duvet were fine. It was just the mattress, as there were two singles pushed together and we were rolling into the centre of the bed, and I didn't sleep as well as I hoped.

Room comfortable, spacious, lovely inside and nice outside area for drinks, staff were very friendly, check in was quick. Restaurant was pleasant food excelent. Service was brilliant.
Room was noisy due to traffic but calmed down about 12 midnight room was on front. Room gets cold quickly but soon warms up. Not mobility friendly (shame) stairs were bit steep and lots of them. Drinks bit pricey. Not enough disabled parking but only small carpark. I would changed pillows on bed not comfy at all.

There was a problem with our room (broken shower) when we checked in, Jo at reception had been unable to contact us in the morning to advise us of the issue before we arrived and so they came up with a solution to ensure that we could carry on with our booking. Jo was very apologetic and went above and beyond to compensate for any inconvenience. Our stay at the hotel was very pleasurable, we ate both evening meal and breakfast there and were very impressed with the choice, quality and service received. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel and pub.

We booked Room 9, it was big and very comfortable, big comfy bed, super shower, quiet even though a Friday and Saturday night, iron and ironing board which we needed as going to wedding, and hairdryer and plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. All staff very friendly and helpful. Super delicious evening meal, I had lamb shank and lovely New Zealand sauvignon blanc. Very historic quirky interesting building. As with all of Towcester, the oldest village in Northamptonshire, fascinating to walk round and learn about its past. Some super cafes for brunch and coffee. No bus service on Sunday but Uber and Zoom taxis reliable. 40 mins on bus 88 to Northampton. We loved it
I think maybe they needed more staff on at breakfast as it seemed a bit stressful for them, and unfortunately there were a lot of flies on the breakfast buffet table which was a bit off putting. We went out for breakfast the second morning. But really we had a lovely time and the place is full of character and ancient charm and our room was super, good value I think, we paid £200 ish for 2 nights with breakfast.

The staff were incredibly accommodating of us and our 2 year old! The room was huge! The breakfast was incredible with a huge range of toast coffe fruit yoghurts pastries and traditional/ continental options with the thickest bacon and plumpest sausages! 9 minutes to Dadford campsite- perfect for our events!
Overall the room was excellent and huge! There was a bit of peeling paint and an old leak spot on the ceiling that could do with some TLC but it didn’t affect our stay one bit! The tap was a bit loud (to be expected in an old place!) and the room was a bit hot but the staff were incredibly quick to get us a fan! Overall these were not big negatives- they didn’t impact the happiness of our stay at all just things that could be tweaked to make it a flawless stay!

For the price and location the Saracen's head can be recommended. It's really handy for visits to Towcester and Silverstone and within walking distance of a number of good pubs/eateries on the high street. The breakfast is very good. The rooms are with ensuite and absolutely fine for the price paid. The parking his very handy too.
Nothing much to dislike! It is in a busy location so if the noise of the town would disturb you, it's not the hotel for you, but for me it was fine.

Location. Lovely large clean room. Food was excellent. Onsite parking. Overall good value for money
Hotel and room were excellent. Good value for money and room v clean. Staff were not v attentive. We ate in the restaurant in the evening. Food was excellent and good value for money. We had to ask if we could have pudding and we had to ask for bill. It seems once we had been served drinks and mains staff were not bothered. Such a shame as everything else was perfect.

The staff made my stay exceptional - I have stayed in many hotels over the years but have never recieved the standard of care and attention to my needs. I have mobility issues and at every turn someone was there offering to assist me. I think the best critique would be to state I will be staying here again asap. Full english breakfast was lovely - I was offered choices of egg and I went with poached - it was perfect.
Air con in the room would have been nice - I restrained from opening the bedroom window - to be fair almost a non issue.
