This far exceeded our expectations, so a definite Yes to returning. The staff are really friendly and helpful, from our reception right through to the restaurant. The room was a good size and the main bedroom area was well equipped including an iron, ironing board, tea/coffee making, TV, hairdryer etc. It was quiet with double glazing and secondary glazing. No A/C but there was a portable fan in the room. Bed was large and comfy. Bathroom - mmm, its only downfall as it was quite dated and really could do with a revamp - that said, the water had great pressure and the hot so hot you could make tea with it if you wanted to, so careful with kids. There was also a good supply of towels and hair/body wash lotions. We had an evening meal which was in their well supported restaurant and was Beefeater menu so pub grub - That was way better than I expected too, but not nearly as good as their hearty breakfast. If you eat out in the eve, don't miss out on the breakfast! Parking was plentiful. Don't miss this little gem of a place - We loved it

Bathroom needed a revamp

This hotel is in a great location for Whilton Mill Kart Track. Literally 5 minutes away. Lovely staff and comfortable beds. Good powerful shower (although the controls can be hard to use) As well as the onsite restaurant there is the option of a nice Indian restaurant within walking distance (5 minutes across the road) Low cost property with cheerful (staff)

The rooms could benefit from an upgrade. Most of the plugs have been blocked off with the only one usable behind the TV. The light switch was a bit temperamental.

Considering it's a brewery run hotel, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was a good size with en-suite bathroom, hairdryer, large TV and tea/coffee making facilities and even some biscuits! And as it was a pub, it had a comprehensive menu, food was good and reasonably priced.

Hotel side of things was a bit tired and in need of modernisation and redecorating, for example, the carpet had worn away from the threshold strip leading to the bathroom, so if you step on it with bare feet, you'll get spiked by the gripper rod!

Room was adequate and clean. However everything was tired . Comfy and clean bed . The shower water was extremely hot , you had to be careful that you got the right mixture. Excellent variety for breakfast. Nicely cooked and very tasty. No excuse to go away from the table hungry. Chis, who was the hotel manager, receptionist, restaurant manager and waiter absolutely made our stay at the hotel special. We were a group of car enthusiasts staying for the weekend. Chris organised everything and everyone in the restaurant and so it all went smoothly. I would definitely rate chris as excellent. Thank you.

The rooms need upgrading as everywhere was tired.

We were given a room that had 2 bedrooms, which made our stay so much easier. The beds were very comfortable and spacious. Both rooms were spacious, but only the room with double bed had tv and tea making facilities . The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant attached to the hotel was very nice and relaxing and well presented. There were ample parking and it's free.

The only thing wrong was the decor really needed doing. The carpets throughout the hotel really needed up dating as it was stained and warned in places. These problems were only cosmetic and didn't directly affect my family as everything worked as needed, so just a bit of paint and a carpet, and it would be excellent all round.

The room was large, warm and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable with good quality bedding. Lighting in the room was good. It was nice to find the hair dryer fitted near a mirror. Breakfast was superb and all staff were pleasant and efficient.

The bathroom and carpets are very much in need of replacement. There are no electric sockets on the wall either side of the bed, extra sockets with usb fittings are needed. There is one socket for the kettle and one at skirting level, totally inadequate.

Location was great, food was amazing, room was big and clean.

Staff weren’t very friendly, it was almost like we were an inconvenience to them. We were told to book a table for food but when we arrived it was virtually empty, it was the same on the Saturday night. The hot tap in the bathroom of our room was so hot it could burn someone, it came out with such force. Whole place could do with some tlc to make it an amazing place to stay.

Bar staff fab and friendly. Reception staff friendly but sarcastic to be honest. Fab location and beds comfortable.

Asked for a bathmat from reception at breakfast and was told house keeping at 9am so you will be first. Left at 11.45am for a wedding and no visit from house keeping as had to put hand towel in bath to stand on so it wasn't slippy. Light in bathroom was delayed switch on The whole place needs a little tlc. Room i stayed in was good apart from decor

The room was clean and tidy, freeview TV was good, kettle/coffee/tea etc good selection. Staff were very welcoming on our arrival.

Difficult to find any major issues, I can only think of two things. Firstly, the bathroom needs the bath panel replaced as it is not in the best condition. Secondly, was the breakfast. The first morning's breakfast was good with a great selection of pastries etc, unfortunately, the second mornings breakfast was scarce, no continental selection which was apparently because 'they only had a few patrons that morning', it should be available to all as advertised, not reduced because there is not enough patrons.

Staff were fantastic and the pub is amazing, such a gem! I really liked the property overall, breakfast was fantastic, worth every penny!! The staff were really really helpful and accommodating, I'm definitely going back to stay! Thank you x

Only that the hotel part could do with a lick of paint, having said that what is there was clean and tidy......just a bit dated now, I understand it's not that easy to just refurb a hotel just like that, but if the budget is there for this one, it would really bring the hotel up in line with the pub and make a nice combo............another thing, it looks like there were conference rooms, there is a real opportunity here do upgrade that part and hire out not only to meetings but sell it as well being retreats, like yoga, mindfulness etc.....
