From our first arrival we just knew this was a lovely place, it has loads of character but modern utilities which were clean and very tidy. The menu was to die for, Osam was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble for him. All credit to the brilliant chefs employed there, the chicken curry was a suprise and the best i have ever tasted, the kombucha was a total new experience for me, beautiful. Tuesday was pie night, boy the pie was absolutely perfect and a really big portion too, a total suprise to me, the wife had Battered Cod, but to be fair it could double as a whale, she just couldn't finish it.

Our beautiful quirky room, warm welcome, fabulous hospitality, delicious food and lovely location. It was a perfect base for our weekend visit to Crick boat show. We also enjoyed our evening walks around the cricket grounds opposite and the serene views across the farmland bordering the hotel. Amazing breakfasts!! Greatly appreciated attention to detail. Thank you to David and the team, you’re doing an amazing job!

Lovely room although a bit small. I love the wallpaper, bathroom is really clean and modern but the rainfall shower not that strong, the water pressure is weak. Location is handy because we went to Icarus Falconry and it's only a few miles down the road, There was a live band on the Friday night we stayed hence we can hear the caterwauling and the chatter of people downstairs. Breakfast is superb!

Our bedroom faces the main road so we can hear the cars passing by. We stayed on a weekend night so there were a lot of people in the restaurant/pub. Noise was bearable.

We stayed one night, we were greeted very well and shown to our room, offered help with our bags as there was no lift. The room was comfortable and clean with plenty of refreshments on offer, the bathroom again was clean and well presented. We had breakfast which was nicely cooked had generous portions and was well presented, the coffee was perfect.

Two very small niggles the bathroom light went out if you were in there a long time, especially if you were intheshower I don't think the movement sensor realises your there. The other observation was the decoration of the stair cases really does need refreshing Having said all that our stay was overall very good, would certainly recommend it to friends.

The staff were all very good, and accommodating, could not fault their professionalism. The room was also very nice and cosy.

We liked everything, service and room were perfect, food was ok but could be better. The evening meal on arrival we started with a fish platter, and prawns in shells were served cold, which we thought was odd, and had no flavour whatsoever, but the beef and mushroom pie was ok, I would definitely return, and hopefully the food can just go up a couple of grades to make this a perfect retreat, but what the food lacks, the staff and location make up for.

The bedroom, bed and facilities were excellent. They have a very nicely laid out bar/ restaurant area. Chris, who is now in charge, not Keeley as shown on their web site, gave us a room in which to work for the day and did not charge for this. This was excellent for us. The beer is good there too.

They do not serve breakfast till after 9am and that is cold plate. Too late for me and I prefer cooked. There are problems with their web site and this needs to be altered. I booked on the site a dinner for two the night I arrived, but when I checked in they had no knowledge of the booking. It was not a problem as they were not busy. The food varies from very good to indifferent. Nor sure why and generally communications within the group seems to be hap-hazard.

Our room was lovely and comfortable and cosy, just what we wanted for our special weekend!

I didn’t like how our evening meal was rushed. We wanted a little drink in the bar before dinner, but it wasn’t allowed because they wanted us seated and our food ordered as quickly as possible, because the kitchen staff wanted to finish early. I personally i don’t think that’s good enough.. especially on a Saturday night, we paid a lot for the room, we wanted a chilled out evening, and I really don’t think that 15/20 minutes in the bar area would have made a massive impact on kitchen staff. It wasn’t even as if it was a busy evening in the restaurant, in fact we were the only couple in there! The girl with all the awful tattoos was rude and made us feel like an inconvenience.

This is an absolute gem of a place It was the best pub food I have ever had in the UK , The publican is an absolute gentleman and this is the guy you want running your pub , The staff were very friendly and helpful both at dinner and breakfast The breakfast was amazing and overall the best value for money for accomodation and I would have paid double no problem Well done Red Lion and staff Simon and Janine (Airlie Beach Queensland Australia )

Lovely old traditional thatched roof pup. Food was excellent, staff were very attentive. It is under new ownership and is being gradually and nicely renovated. Large beer garden and nice views in an idyllic small village. Rooms are clean, showers have good water pressure, beds are comfy. We will return should we be in the area. Great to see a traditional old English pub surviving.

Not keen on the pillows, but this is a personal preference.

Lovely quaint property. Tastefully decorated and good ample parking. Room was very comfortable, cosy and clean and quiet. Well equipped room. The staff in the restaurant were excellent. Hard working under busy circumstances and very polite and professional. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant. Important addition to note - we would like to say that the staff on duty in the restaurant on evening of 6th August did a very professional job with dealing with an awkward/quite hostile guest who arrived late that evening as the kitchen closed. The guest was rude to the staff member on the phone prior to arrival (put phone down on her) This continued at checkout the next morning which we ‘stayed around’ to help the young lady who again professionally dealt with the same ‘disgruntled’ guest to check she was going to be ok as she was in her own. All staff dealt with this well. We feel that this guest could have phoned today she was going to be late and I’m sure the kitchen may have allowed for this had for thought be done. The staff are a credit to the hotel.

Nothing to not like about the property. Our only small disappointment was with the continental breakfast. Whilst we knew it was going to be continental, we were a little disappointed with the items. Maybe the property could consider cereal and toast either instead or in addition but this would not deter our return.
