Big comfortable bed. Nice and clean. Plenty of heating during cold snap. Room away from pub, so quiet enough.Pl we nty of free parking.
Some staff not at all keen on talking to guests, maybe a language problem. I am talking about welcoming and passing the time of day, not conversation. The toilet, wash basin and shower waste was pumped away through a mascerater box. This should be vented to the outside or through an activated carbon filter, to stop a nasty smell coming into the room. This was missing or faulty so there was a frequent horrible smell.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, we felt so welcome and well looked after. The person who checked us in and served us at the bar in the evening was a highlight of our stay, he was so friendly and really hospitable. The room was spacious, the bed was large and comfortable and overall we felt it was really good value for money. We also ate and drank in the pub, and it was reasonably priced, good food and amazing service.
A couple of minor things, the bin lid in the bathroom wasn't attached and kept falling off, there was a left over bar of soap from the previous guest in the shower and the shower extractor was very dusty.

Friendly, helpful staff. Food was good. Room was clean and comfortable. Lovely garden - we had our evening meal outside as it was so hot!! Really enjoyed it! Nice little play area for kiddies.
Could have done with a phone charging socket. We stayed on 21st June and it was so hot we had to leave the windows open, but couldn't close the curtains for privacy because of the secondary glazing - obviously needed during the winter, but not when it's hot. Decor could do with updating.

In walking distance of the Dodford Manor Barn wedding venue (25 minutes) and the Roman Way brewery tap at the Royal Ordnance Depot (10 minutes). Plenty of car parking spaces. Near the bus stops for Daventry and Northampton. Next to the Grand Union Canal for pleasant walks. Nice breakfast and main meal options.
The food menu on the website doesn't include the gluten-free menu, so you could easily believe they don't do gluten-free.

I added this stay into my journey I was making with my daughter. We were heading towards London, but I thought it would be nice to stop off midway, and then continue again the following morning. Upon arrival, the staff were so friendly and helpful..I chose this place due to location, cost, but also because we could get food and also, it had a play area for my daughter. I didn’t realise, that, it may not sound much, but having a pool table there, we also played a couple of games of pool on the evening, which kept us entertained and the room was warm, comfortable, clean, and gave us a lovely nights stay before we continued on our adventure the next morning :) As a single mom, who regularly travels alone with my young daughter, perhaps I hope for different things which others not in my position would? But even so, we felt safe, comfortable and welcomed, and so, based on that, I believe that anyone else would also agree on this. Thank you to everyone there.
I can’t criticise anything.

Great value for money. Food was amazing! Great little night away. Lovely little pub. Would definitely go again. The room we had was nice and comfortable. Definitely recommend.
One bar staff that served us as soon as we walked in wasn't very cheerful and didn't feel very approachable. Around 11/11.30pm it became very noisy outside our room, which isn't great when you're trying to get some sleep but didn't last long and understand people are just enjoying themselves.

Travel here often for work and it is a nice friendly pub/restaurant with good facilities in a good location at an attractive price. Tesco extra next door which is useful and a stones throw from Daventry/ Towcester/ Northampton etc. Always my go to.
The outside rooms are a lot more convenient for car, luggage, own space and privacy etc but are a little louder than the rooms inside. Does not bother me at all but may bother some.

We have visited The Heart of England on many occasions over the past 20 years, we own a narrowboat so normally we stop off for drinks and a meal. The staff are always excellent. Normally we find the food portions on the large size but on Friday evening my husband had Scampi and chips, of which both portions were rather small, I had the lasagne and garlic bread, lasagne was fine but only one slice of garlic bread, we had planned to share the chips and garlic bread.
Have the portion sizes of food smaller but the prices have stayed the same?

Relly comfy bed, lovely feeling sheets, easy access and extremely quiet despite being in the centre of the town. Penny provided some real milk on request - thank you. Bedroom and Bathroom was large.
Shame but I could only get BBC1 on the TV. (I didn't report it) When I went down for Breakfast, there was no staff on duty so decided against it just due to needing to get to work. Shame as there were some great options for breakfast.

Stuart the manager and his staff were all very friendly and helpful. They could not to enough especially when we needed to stay extra nights. Well done to Stuart and the team. Breakfast (especially the fried eggs) were great.
Some noise from the room next door (especially when the person was shouting responses to a phone call) on speaker.
