A near perfect location for the Moto GP Grand Prix taking place at Silverstone the next day. Everything from the setting, to the friendly yet efficient welcome through to the accommodation, evening food and drink, breakfast and check-out the next day was flawless. I say 'near-perfect' - only because it was about 40 mins away from Silverstone. However, this was not an issue at all and was due in part to my booking only last November when this was one of the few properties left available in the surrounding area for that weekend. That aside, everything was excellent. Both our rooms in the separate accommodation block (a converted barn?) were spacious, comfortable, clean and had all the facilities you would need. The bar area is full of character and village charm and served a varied selection of local / more well-known ales, lagers and decent wines. Food in the dining area in the evening was of good gastro-pub quality and very reasonably priced. Breakfast the next morning was one of the best full English's we've had in a while - all freshly cooked, very tasty and plentiful. All staff were very welcoming, friendly and efficient - everything went very smoothly. I would have no hesitation in booking here again if I was in the area, and would highly recommend it as a great value-for-money pit-stop.
Genuinely nothing.

Fabulous first floor room with views over the fields. Airy and lots of light. Large comfortable bed. Great shower with plenty of hot water and great pressure. Amazing evening meal, we both had something for the specials board ( I had cod, OH had pulled pork burger) My cod was phenomenal, cooked to perfection and the mousse and sauce was equally delicious. Breakfast to be ordered the night before by 8pm, served at a time of your choice. Breakfast was just a good. Plenty of choices of food. Stayed here en route so didn’t explore the area at all. Plenty of parking outside the b&b in the pub car park.

We stayed at the Merrie Lion as we were attending a wedding approximately 10 minutes away. The location is excellent - in a beautiful village, Incredibly quiet and surrounded by countryside. We were allowed to collect our keys early and choose our breakfast as we were not sure what time we would be back from the wedding and reception in the evening. A fantastic choice for breakfast and it didn’t disappoint either (and also vegetarian options). Our host was Daphne and attended to absolutely everything we needed. The rooms were beautifully clean and the beds very comfortable. I couldn’t recommend this accommodation enough. I just wish we could have stayed longer as the pub adjoining the accommodation was lovely and I would have loved to have stayed for a meal in the evening. A big thank you to Daphne and her team for making our stay wonderful.
Nothing. A wonderful stay.

Excellent restaurant, a good choice of options for breakfast. Food was local and very good quality, well cooked. I liked the way, within reason, we could choose when we wanted the breakfast served. Our host was really helpful and obliging. We had two evening meals there and the food quality was also excellent with generous servings and reasonable pricing. There was a Sausage and Cider festival on during our stay. Really enjoyed this with great live bands on both nights. The range of ciders and sausages was also 1st class. Room we had was very good for reduced mobility, with a walk in shower which did not flood (most do) and a spacious comfortable room.
It would have been nice to have the teas/coffees etc. which are available in the room, renewed automatically and cups and glasses washed, without having to make a specific request as I couldn't always remember.

The location is great as it's near many attractions. The landlady is welcoming and friendly. The room was large and comfortable. Plenty of space for us and our dog who had his own courtyard all to himself! There were plenty of towels, tea and coffee facilties were good. Breakfast was really good. We also had a meal in the evening which was very nice. Staff were attentive. Good ambience in the pub.
We had to wait some time for our evening meal as there were 9 of us, but the staff were most apologetic and gave us a discount off the bill. I would have liked a mirror in the bedroom as the only one was in the bathroom. The door to the courtyard didn't fit well so we had trouble closing it.

Lovely welcome from the staff. I was ill the day I arrived and they all made sure to ask after me. Chatty lady behind the bar made me feel distracted from my problem when I arrived and the room was made up early to accommodate me. The room itself was very spacious, comfy bed, good WiFi & TV, desk with a chair and a sofa and additional chair and a wet room with a rainfall shower. Small meals are available and good and although I didn't eat much breakfast, I know it would be good. I liked it so much that I've booked again for next week! Thank you to the team at The Merrie Lion.
Nothing - all very good and exceeding expectations.

From the moment I walked into the Merrie Lion, I felt so safe and comfortable. I was to attend a wedding during my stay and I initially checked in as a lone female. The landlady (I cannot remember her name!!) was incredibly kind and welcoming - offering me advice on local taxis and offering me a chance to pop to the bar for a cheeky pre-wedding tipple. I was welcomed to all of the regulars in The Merrie Lion on the evening before I had my taxi and left feeling like one of their own! As an additional plus point, the breakfast the next morning was out of this world and certainly helped me in my hungover state the next day.
It’s a shame it’s in a location I will likely never need to stay in again, as I would certainly come here again if it was!!

The Merrie Lion is a delightful pub and inn with exceptional service. Everyone was warm, kind, and friendly and so attentive to our needs. Every meal we had was delicious--especially the breakfasts each morning. The room was well appointed with modern yet cozy decor. The room was immaculately clean and the bed was very comfortable. If you are looking for a charming village from where you can take long walks through the countryside, Fenny Compton is the place to stay.
Very hard to say! The rain? The parking can be a bit tricky given how popular the pub is, but even that wasn't an issue. Nothing comes to mind, as the hosts were so attentive to every detail.

Set in a lovely village, a proper independent pup with modern clean, spacious and comfortable rooms. The staff were all brilliant - polite, attentive, really thought about the experience they provided. The owners are clearly proud of what they achieve and nothing was too much trouble, an ethos that was felt throughout our stay. The food was excellent with choices of normal pub meals and great pizzas. Breakfast was second to none with everything you could ask for. They even bought in vegan milk and spread for my wife which shows how much they care. We will definitely be coming back here again, just too good not to!
Absolutely nothing!

Second time we’ve stayed here and once again it didn’t disappoint. The pub itself is full of character and has a ‘nice feel’ about it - very welcoming and friendly. The breakfasts are really excellent and I’m sure the food served during the day and evening would be of similar quality - although we never ate there other than breakfast. Daphne and her staff are very friendly but professional at the same time. They say people make a place and this is certainly true of the people at The Merrie Lion. The bedrooms are of a very high quality with everything you could wish for from the toiletries to the tea/coffee facilities. They are clean and very well presented. This is our go to place when in this area.
Nothing - everything perfect for our stay.
