We had a huge room which included a sofa bed. The room was clean and comfortable. Loved that they had bottles of water in the room. The bed was comfortable too. We visited Spiceball park which was a 15 minute walk away plus in the evening we got a taxi to the shopping centre - there was a huge M&S, Primark and TK Maxx plus coffee shops. We arrived by train from Banbury - it was just a 15 minute walk to the hotel. We walked by independent shops and eateries on the way. The pub and food were nice and the staff were incredibly friendly.

It’s a period property so the floor creaked a little - we soon got used to it! 😂 no Ubers but the local taxi services were very reliable.

Stairwell areas very tired looking. Room decor dark giving a cold feel (room 11). Bar door was open so felt a bit draughty and chilly whilst eating our evening meal but that's unfortunate as weather not as warm as it had been. Service a little slow at breakfast but the young lad was doing incredibly well as he was on his own and having to deal with a rather difficult couple at the next table. These are just personal.niggles and would not put us off staying again.

Staff welcoming and friendly. Liked you could park prior to check in as we wanted to arrive early and look around the town. Room clean and well equipped (fan really appreciated) There was a quiz on which was fab. Requested ground floor room as my Mum has mobility issues (if you need this you must book a double) and this was accommodated. Location fab - cross the road and you are in the town. Great offer on 2 mains and 2 drinks for £27.50 (Mon -Fri) and breakfast there was plenty of choice (warm pastries were delish)

It’s an old building so steps in and out of most areas which if less mobile you need to consider. But other than that nothing to dislike.

It was quite busy for evenning meal, we had booked and there was nowhere to sit comfortably for a drink. So stood near the bar.When our table was ready we were shown to it but then left to look at menu with the staff stating they would take our order, 45 minutes later they came back after we tried several times to get thier attention. Food ordered it was 45 minutes later and my husband is a diabetic so by the time we ate he didn't feel too good. However the food was great quality just the service let it down on the night but could see staff were busy

Excellent check in with Margie. This is a 3 star establishment. The attic room was full of character, low beams and a good size wardrobe for a couple of nights. There was a bath but no shower. It did say in the booking conditions that some rooms do not have showers so request if necessary. The pie was excellent as expected. There's no wine list so go with the waiter's flow, it'll work out. Excellent IPA as always. Well done to the breakfast waiter with a cheerful deportment. Excellent central location with a small car park.

Front facing attic rooms need double glazing and ventilation. The supplied fan only works if the windows are open. However the boy racers zoom past every so often and the church bells peel on a wednesday Don't serve burnt toast, infact replace the toaster as the top half of the slice was burnt and the bottom just about right (figure that one out). Only one beer on tap, tish Marstons must do better.

Well located in Banbury near to everything with a lovely park 5 mins walk away (The People's Park) for those who like a brisk start to tye day or who have a dog. It's a large pub with restaurant and beer garden and function marquee. Parking at the rear. I was on the 1st floor overlooking the road and not bothered by noise below or outside. Rooms are dated in terms of fixtures and fittings yet very clean with all you need including iron, ironing board and hairdryer, TV, lots of plug sockets. Plenty of tea and coffee and bottled water. Bathroom had bath and shower overhead with the fluffiest towels. Deep matress and good pillows, cotton bedding. Very good night's sleep. Worth noting for single Travellers that a double bedroom only costs a few pounds more and we'll worth it. I opted a continental breakfast as £7.50 yet for £12.50 you can have continental plus any hot breakfast dish....amazing value for money. Lovely welcoming and helpful staff. Recommended

The property requires a refurb yet it's spotlessly clean so a bit of old furniture and dated bathrooms do not bring it down

Unfortunately we ate in the restaurant which was a disaster ! We booked for 7pm and there was only one other table dining After 40 minutes we still hadn’t been given our drinks ! When our meal did arrive approximately 8pm the steaks were tough and most was chewed and left on our plates really inedible !!! We were given a free pudding but felt very disappointed We have eaten here before and were delighted so the experience really upset our stay We love the hotel and will stay again but will think twice about eating in house

The staff were really friendly. They all knew we were staying for a family wedding and all asked us how it went and complimented us on our wedding outfits....it was like staying with family. The hotel was amazing value for money for such a lovely hotel, brilliant location and tasty breakfast.....so much so we felt we had to check that we had actually booked bed and breakfast, not just room only! We couldn't recommend the Cromwell Lodge enough and if we ever return to Banbury....family christening???....we wouldn't hesitate to book here again.

Nothing could have been better.

Beautiful old historic building, rustic and charming. The team are extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was perfect, you don’t find many places where you can have your eggs cooked 3 ways - great variety of breakfast on offer too.

We were in room 18. Great size room and a massive bed which was a little high for me, however I slept like a log. (Not a dislike at all, I’m just short :-) ) There are a number of stairs to this room, however they are low rise and accessible even for me with some mobility restriction. We had a lovely stay - thank you.

This hotel is fantastic, the rooms are great and the staff are always very nice. The lad now serving breakfast is an absolute diamond .

The hotel is great however i cant fit my van in the car park so i leave it at the front. Its free after 6pm but you have to pay before 8am even on a Sunday morning, i got caught last time at 8.15am when i went to purchase a ticket and today again at 8.20am Sunday morning! They are literally waiting to pounce on you , the local council are a cancer on Banbury. Sadly i wont be staying in Banbury ever again, i use it as a stop off when travelling with work but not any longer, ive been fined too often for doing nothing wrong other than spending my hard earned money in Banbury
