Friendly, wonderful staff, good value! I can’t thank the reception, breakfast staff, and housekeeping enough for their attention, helpful attitude, and constant smiling faces! They go above and beyond what is needed to make the stay at the hotel welcoming, comfortable, and a really enjoyable experience! I have stayed there several times, and they now feel like family to me!

The hotel is being renovated, but it did not impede my stay in any way! The outside scaffolding is to be expected at the moment, and none of the work being done, impacted my stay! The only thing I can think of is the way heat to the rooms is transmitted! However, I brought it to the attention of the hotel and housing staff that I have a condition that makes me feel colder than a regular person! They addressed it, took care of my needs, and I was very happy!

Second annual stay with the Royal this month and it was lush as always. The room was clean and cosy with a flatscreen TV, chunky duvet, kettle for cuppa's and staff that can't do enough for you! Breakfast was amazing and compliments to all of the team :) I know there's loads of reviews mentioning the 'outdated' (ie Sturdy, resilient and time-served) furniture but I personally adore it - it's never a proper Northern Seaside holiday without a bit of vintage and nostalgia! The several thriving antique shops in the town centre will confirm that. Excellent location right on the sea front, town centre is a short walk away for anything extra you might need and there's loads to see (Especially if you're a Seaglass hunter!) and it's excellent value for money for the location. Nothing at all - renovations were still ongoing whilst I was there (No disturbance at all) but I know it'll be even better when I visit next. Keep up the great work guys!

The Mint Imperials at reception area. Helpful attitude of staff. Help yourself breakfast with beautiful warm toast. Julie and the staff work hard, to provide a pleasant experience with nothing too much trouble to keep the customer happy. "No Bother" it the catch word and any minor issue dealt with appropriately and quickly. I have stayed on 3 seperate short occasions this summer.

Unable to open the window in room 36, no sink plug when needing a shave but easily resolved by asking housekeeping staff.. The hotel is currently undergoing full refurbishment and some of the room furniture & fittings are a bit dated, however customers are made aware prior to booking. NOT a complaint, just an observation.

This hotel is undergoing major refurbishment and it appears none of the sea facing rooms are currently available, so my view was of another building across the way. Breakfast was good, everyone seems to come down in the last hour so the dining room gets a bit busy but the food didn't run out. Reception staff very friendly, location excellent right on the sea front and ten minutes walk from the town and the Metro station.

Pity breakfast finishes at 09:00, means you don't get much of a lie-in when on holiday. Bathroom very small but has everything you need. A bit of a rabbit warren to find your room but it's well signed. Best value for money in Whitley Bay, I will return.

The property is under refurbishment and the room was a bit dated but comfortable and clean and very spacious. There was an issue with the first room, they gave me but the staff resolved the problem quickly by offering another room. For the price range we are looking at it was excellent. Staff is friendly and helpful and the Breakfast was delicious. I would definitely come again.

I would have preferred to get real coffee instead of instant coffee. Happy to pay a but more for that luxury but as the Breakfast was so rich and varied I’m nit complaining. :-)

It was for my sons graduation that I stayed here. Being already made previously aware of the renovations ongoing, I was surprised how everything went so swimmingly inside. The staff were friendly and welcoming and were prepared to go over and beyond to help with anything at hand. Although basic, my single room was tired, (no doubt gladly welcoming the decorators), but was adequate and had everything I needed. Breakfast was delicious offering a wide range of English Breakfast food to help yourself, with the option of the usual fruits and cereals. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would encourage anyone looking for somewhere by the coast with the sea literally a stone throw away, to stay at this welcoming hotel.

The location is fabulous, the chef for breakfast was so respectful, the food was fair.

The only thing is I had to get the stairs till the 3rd floor. It’s hard if you’ve luggages.

Where to start? The staff were very accommodating and so polite. The room was a tad cold at first, given the fact that it was cold on the sea front when we stayed, but when we contacted the main reception, they solved our problem very quickly. The bed was so comfy, we could've laid there all day every day. The breakfast was as delicious as the last time we stayed there. The view was spectacular, even with the ongoing works on the exterior, still well worth the price. The room was so (for want of a better word) roomy, and I'd highly recommend this Hotel to anyone, whether on holiday abroad, or just a weekend getaway.

Hmm, well, we didn't like... nope, not a single thing we can think of that we didn't like.

The Royal is right on the seafront with parking facilities on a first come first served basis, but there is a car park literally down the road and cost £3 for the whole day. Then a little further along and you are on the beach or if you turn left you're heading into the town of Whitley Bay. Excellent location for all facilities. All the staff are friendly and extremely helpful and make you feel so welcome.

There wasn't a lift so bit of difficulty if you've lots of luggage or walking issues. This maybe resolved as the hotel is undergoing renovation work.

Amazing seaveiw, fab for people, bird, boat & crazy swimmer watching. To awaken & the room to be flooded orange with the dawning of the sun. Friendly & hard working staff. Best breakfast with good quality ingredients, the bacon is lush. All served in a fresh, modern dining room. Always hot water in shower. We have stayed several times & will stay again.

The hotel is undergoing extensive renovation, but we were not disturbed by any noise during our stay. Some things do need updating: the bed in our room had seen better days, the huge pub style toilet roll holder needs removing as it gets in the way & isn't in use. I suppose this will all be sorted in the renovations. More towel rails, hooks & coathangers please.
