The bar staff were excellent. Fast and efficient during busy periods and always friendly. The bar food was typical pub grub but the menu was extensive and they specialised in their own home made pies and had a shop on site where you could buy them to take away. We did! All of the food we ate over 4 nights was very good with substantial portions served. Breakfast was also excellent and presented in a buffet style.

The room was a bit on the small side (to say the least!) but the bed was comfortable and we were only in there to sleep or change clothing. We weren't after luxury or all mod cons.

Food was excellent, sampled a few dishes and all were great. Comfortable spacious room, but sockets not conveniently placed - no socket anywhere near the kettle for instance, had to move kettle to bedside table, a small detail but worth thinking about putting in an extension lead to it.

When seated outside we didn't get a warning the bar was closing, when asked to move inside later in the evening we found the bar was closed, a small oversight I expect but we'd have liked to continue our chat with friends we hadn't seen for a while and as residents we thought it would be open later

We stayed here several years ago but were lodged in the annex across the road, this time we were in the main building. Our room was a very good size with large bathroom, unusually I slept well so it must have been a comfortable bed. Food & drink from the bar were of good quality and value, the award winning pies certainly lived up to expectations! A good sized area outside with tables/chairs for drinks with smoking and non smoking area. We loved the quirkiness of the whole place, it's an old building full of low beams and not your typical layout of bars and rooms. Breakfast was a hearty affair, hot buffet English breakfast style. We would certainly stay again.

Can't really call it a complaint as it's a really old building but the soundproofing is very limited, a fair bit of noise from the bar below. However it didn't really affect our stay and we still slept well enough. Again, not really a complaint but the car park can get very busy and it's not easy to turn around if full although there is plenty of parking available almost outside.

The food was lovely it's pub food but great, great choice , awsume pies and the ribs are amazing . Great traditional pub with a lovely atmosphere. Great staff in the bar. The girl in the passiserie was lovely. A really nice girl and extremely helpful.

Lovely welcome but did not explain anything about breakfast and on leaving on Sunday the lady on reception was no where to be found , i put the key behind desk , later found receptionist doing scratch cards behind the bar , explained where I had left the key with a response of , "ok" then walked off . not even a thanks for staying or did you enjoy your stay , definitely needs training in customer care . Apart from that we did enjoy our stay.

The hotel and inn is located in a historic building, where it existed, apparently, for quite a few centuries. This is apparent in the maze-like nature of the premises, however, the rooms are reasonably well renovated, and the facilities are comfortable and at a good level. The location is great - in the middle of the town, and the food at the restaurant/inn is very good (not to mention the local pride - the pies, for which there are many prize certificates on the walls of the pies shop room).

There were quite a few stairs. We didn't mind, but those with limited mobility or with heavy luggage may want to reconsider.

Positive experience from start to finish. I parked my car and walked in to be greeted by a friendly and very helpful receptionist who showed me to my room. The room was clean, spacious, tidy and well presented with a comfortable bed, a couch to sit on and just generally very nice to be in. Dinner was outstanding - especially considering that I am coeliac - the staff were very friendly and helpful and I had one of the best Gluten Free pies that I have had in a long time. The food overall, the service and the atmosphere was great I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Nothing really - if I had to be picky the parking spaces were a bit tight for the larger cars but as I said this is if I was being picky.

Great little quirky b&b , super staff, friendly & helpful. I stayed here with my two young daughters, for an equestrian event at Addington and it was perfect. Managed to park our small horsebox in the car park. We had a really nice meal in the pub on the first night. Comfortable beds, clean room. Iron in the room was handy & fridge/team/coffee etc.

Only just that the rooms could be a bit more updated in decor and style - but this is minor as the style was quirky/traditional anyway and added to the charm. (all depends if you like that or not!)

The staff were extremely friendly. The hotel /bar is lovely with a pretty beer garden. There is also an excellent pie shop within the pub. I took a steak and blue cheese pie home with me and it was excellent. I was going to Silverstone and it was conveniently located for that, about 30m to the park and ride. It was excellent value.

It was near quite a busy road, but this did not bother me, the room was nice and quiet. The decor was a bit tired, but this didn't matter. My room was clean and comfortable.

Ok, so the bedroom carpet was a little theadbare but the room was spacious and very clean. The bed was comfy and there was plenty of hot water. I even had the luxury of a hot bath after a busy day 😁 Staff are lovely - we were even left a generous supply of tea/coffee etc hanging on the door because I had put the 'do not disturb' sign out. (This was a stark contrast to the alleged 4 star hotel we stayed at recently where I had to fight for replacements because I had used up my allocation) Breakfast was generous and very tasty - reasonably priced too. Another great stay - we will be back.

Sometimes the car park is completely full but we were able to find on street parking a short distance away.

Excellent traditional town hotel and pub. Lovely interesting historic building with lots of atmosphere. Hasn't had the interior altered too much like some old pubs. A good range of excellent real pies. Fortunately. not the bowl of stew with a puff pastry lid offered by so many places.

The weather had turned colder but the heating didn't come on until around 9.30pm on our first night and we were woken up by a fire alarm at around 5am on our second. These things happen but a simple apology by the receptionist rather than just telling us the alarm was going to be checked later would have gone a long way!
