Nice enough property. Amenities seem newer.

Bed was uncomfortable and the beach was a lot further away than we thought it would be. Only 1 ice maker on the ground floor. It’s advertised that the beach is only 950 feet away so I paid for a balcony room to have a very nice view of the street and the other hotels and the apartments that block the beach 😂 when we tried to walk to the beach, we were told we would have to go down at least 8 blocks before there was an access point.

The staff is very helpful. For example, my car battery died and everything was done to help get the car started. Little things like saying hello or good morning always occurred. Also, the hotel is very clean. Staff was always busy cleaning or maintaining the facility. The hotel is in a more quiet area of town so my stay was relaxed. The other guests were quiet as well. This is my second stay here and I will be back.

Although coffee is available in the lobby, the lobby doesn't open until 8 so an early morning cup is not available. A coffee maker in the room would be helpful. I come alone so this does not bother me but when my husband comes, this will be an issue for him. He wants coffee when he rolls out of bed.

Cute little, somewhat bugee, clean. no frills motel. Close enough to the ocean, you could walk to the cliffs to see the sunset. Restaurants, a bakery, coffee, and a donut shop are all within walking distance. I Ubered to Pacific and Mission Beach for a reasonable rate and didn't have to fight for beach parking. The room was quiet and you couldn't hear the people in the pool. The pool was nice and clean. The staff was top-notch, especially when I locked myself out of the room. I enjoyed the large trash receptacle in the room, as I didn't have to dump the trash can every night. The shower was clean and powerful.

The room needs one extra chair and maybe a bedside table. I brought my own Keurig, although they had coffee in the lobby or down the street. I'd rather have it in my room. There was a microwave outside by the office, not in the room. Parking is tight, but they will make a secret spot for you if you get in late.

We had a lovely room with extra separate bedroom with good sized balcony. Only 2 chairs though for 4 people. Great to have a fridge in the room to keep our drinks cool. Comfortable, large beds. Good size, modern bathroom. Would have liked coffee making facilities in the room rather than having to go to the lobby, but only minor issue. Good parking even for big cars. Near the beach. Great coffee shops and artisan bakeries and eateries close by. Quiet neighbourhood. Not in the airport flight path. Felt very safe! Would be very happy to come back! Thanks

I loved everything about the property. Highly recommend this perfect oasis to anyone wanting to have a great place to stay. Our family has been vacationing at Sands Of La Jolla for over 20 years. The staff is amazing! Stephanie is great and greets us with a smile every time! The cleaning crew are amazing and very kind! The whole place is very clean and the grounds are perfectly tailored all the time! It’s so conveniently located to the beach, stores and eateries and the price is great as well. I will continue to vacation here as it’s home away from home! Thank you Sands Of LaJolla and all the staff, from the cleaning crew, ground keepers, maintenance and office staff for making us always feel welcome! 😃❤️

I honestly can’t think of anything I didn’t like.

We enjoyed our stay at the property. We had a balcony with a table and chair and could see a glimpse of the ocean, which we enjoyed. The room was modern, clean and checked all the boxes. Appreciated the fridge. Would be great if there would be a coffee maker in the room and a chair inside. Huge TV. Nice combo sitting and standing desk, which might be nice if someone would stay here longer and work. The lobby felt a little outdated compared to the rest of the property. Parking conveniently in front and behind the property. Note that there is no elevator, so if you are on the third floor like we were, you will have an enjoyable view but will need to carry your suitcase upstairs. Location and neighborhood were great. While it was quiet, there were a couple of stores close by. Enjoyed the cool coffee shop and retail space at the corner up the street and close to other places, i.e. Mexican restaurant, CVS, yoga place, etc. Walked down to Pacific Beach and back one evening.

Missed a coffee maker in the room. There is a lobby with coffee, but you have to walk around the building and down the stairs to get there. No elevator. Had to carry a heavy suitcase three floors up.

Very good location, quick walk to the beach, and also a few good places for breakfast within a couple of blocks. The room was clean, nicely designed. Good shower. Free parking was definitely one of the reasons I chose to stay there. Internet speed was good.

No microwave in the room. They don't use fitted sheets, so the bed gets messy easily, and I had to request that they make it, as they don't do daily housekeeping. The lights in the room are too bright, and there's no dimming. The only other option is a lamp that is by the TV. There's only one nightstand.

I loved having a balcony with table and chairs, the proximity to the beach, quiet side streets to walk and run along, and close access to local restaurants in Bird Rock.

The loud motorcycles and cars that sometimes go through the intersection deterred me from sleeping with the balcony door open. My room had a slight mildew odor which I told the front desk about upon departure, and they promptly followed up with deep cleaning instructions to their staff. I wish my room had a tea/coffee maker in it. The reception area had tea and coffee but since my room was on the third floor of the opposite side of the building it wasn't convenient first thing in the morning. I was able to heat water using a microwave oven that was located in a protected common space on the third floor.

Location is in between the main part of La Jolla and Pacific Beach. It is a cute little downtown, but didn't seem to have that much going on. We enjoyed that you can walk to the stores, yoga studio and a few cafe type places. The Bird Rock Surf Shop is next door (as is a CVS). We enjoyed being there. The view is mainly of the traffic circle and pool which was fine. La Jolla is a beautiful place. We drove to the beach and found some street parking. Local surfing and beaches are fantastic. We explored La Jolla, Mission Beach and Pacific Beach which are all fun and different. Hotel is pretty basic but it's nice. Price fluctuates but I have gotten good deals at this hotel. I think second floor rooms look nicer than bottom floor. Parking is easy! Balcony is nice just hard to see above safety rail. Check out at noon is helpful. Early check in after 12 was complimentary and an added bonus.

I didn't like receiving a bill for missing key cards upon check out. The front desk doesn't mention that. Coffee is on the later side, 8AM. Pool doesn't open until 10AM. It would be nice to sit outside with coffee in the morning. No pool towels available, however you can use standard bathroom towels. Fridge does not have a freezer. It is a nice fridge though.

The rooms were well appointed, large, modern and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute drive from La Jolla, but it was very quiet and having free onsite parking was great. There are some great restaurants and coffee shops within easy walking distance. There are also some beautiful ocean views just a few easy block away. We loved buying amazing baked goods at Wayfare Bakery and coffee at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters and then walking to the benches that overlook the beach and enjoying our food and the spectacular view.
