This place is honestly a hidden gem. After the renovation, it offers clean, comfortable, kind of stylish rooms - no luxury, but solid. Trader Joe’s and cvs 2 blocks up for anything you’d need, and a great breakfast place just 3 doors down. Incredible value for money
Just be aware that the sketchy tenderloin starts a few blocks down - trick is to go east first a few blocks and then down towards market. Anything north, east and west of the hotel is totally fine (and btw, it’s not “unsafe” going down, just sketchy)

Really friendly staff in a beautiful building which felt very 'San Francisco'! Loved the old-school lift and decor and bed was really comfy. Great breakfast places nearby (highly recommend Farm:Table especially), lovely bathroom and great shower. Felt very at home!
The location was nearer the Tenderloin area than the name implies so the walk up from the train station was a little sketchier than I'd been expecting; not the fault of the hotel, of course, and I had zero problems with the local homeless community but I think a small heads-up would've prepared me better and might be useful for other solo travellers.

Good location
Very weak water pressure in the shower, if you have thick hair and want to wash it - forget about it. Not enough tables for breakfast, had to wait.

Hotel was beautiful! Great location! Very clean! Very comfy! Safe location! 10 min walk to union square to the shops and restaurants! Coffee shop right next door! Bar and shop just around the corner too! Restaurant down stairs looked nice, but we didn’t try it! Also breakfast was included. Coffee machine downstairs which you could get coffee whenever. There was an ice machine and microwave in the hall aswell! Reception staff were lovely and very friendly! Let us check out at 12 with no charge!
Quite noisy at night as we were staying in a room by the street, a lot of cars and ambulances (as hospital is right next door) but it was fine. House keeping would come in unannounced which I didn’t like.

I had a lovely experience at Nob Hill Hotel in San Francisco. The location is fantastic—just a short walk or cable car ride to iconic spots like Pier 39, Lombard Street, and Union Square. It made exploring the city incredibly convenient. The hotel itself has a quaint, historic charm with Victorian-style decor that adds character to the stay. My room was clean and comfortable, and while the breakfast was simple, it was a nice touch to start the day—toast, cereal, fruit, and coffee were available. Staff were generally helpful, and the atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming. If you're looking for a budget-friendly hotel with great access to San Francisco’s top attractions, Nob Hill Hotel is a solid choice.
While the Nob Hill Hotel offers a charming stay and excellent access to San Francisco’s top attractions, guests should be aware that walking toward certain areas like the Tenderloin may require extra caution. The city is actively working to address homelessness, but street conditions can be unpredictable. Planning your walking routes ahead and staying alert is recommended.

We originally had been put in a room with an interconnecting room, this was very noisy, felt like the person was literally in the room with us. I spoke with reception in the morning and they were very good and gave us another room, which was overlooking the road with some noise, but I was more than happy with their alternative. This was the first time that I have requested a different room while travelling and I believe the hotel dealt with it very well and I am more than happy.
Lots of wastage at breakfast, paper cups, plates etc, I think it would be better if you had proper cutlery and plates etc. This is just a suggestion.

The hotel is very well located within walking distance of Union Square, Chinatown, Pier 33 and many more tourist places (if you are prepared to walk around). Bus stops nearby very easy and convenient to use. The room was comfortable for 4 of us plus luggage with fridge, coffee/tea machine, TV. Shower room was good and clean (took a bit of time to get hot water but not an issue for us). Wifi worked well. The entrance and elevator looks great. Staff was polite and room service was done when we asked for it.
Nothing to do with the hotel (so not their fault) but walking to Union Square (and around SF to be fair!) there are a lot of homeless and human faeces+urine on the street. Didn't feel unsafe either as most mind their own business but does make the area feel dirty.

Served its purpose! Convenient location to a lot of local bars. Parking is manageable as long as you read the street parking signs carefully and leave nothing in your vehicles. (This I did but noticed someone had looked inside by wiping my dirty windows. CAUTION IS STILL ADVISED IF DRIVING YOUR OWN VEHICLE.) Besides that, I appreciated mini fridge and modern amenities like the TV and the lights. Our room faced the street, which was hardly noisy. Great for a weekend stay.
Room 310 was surprisingly, quite small. (My partner and I then realized that it was the smallest room in the floor, rather unlucky haha.) Only had 1 accessible outlet besides the one in the bathroom. Hardly any counter space for our belongings.

Nice hotel, comfy bed, soft clean sheets and pillows & towels. Coffee machine with free coffee in lobby, but on the last day (3 nights stay) the coffee machine was not working and wasn't fixed the whole day. Complimentary breakfast was surprise, thank you. The people on drugs on the street make the whole town so messy, and the feeling of beautifull town is gone like the smoke (not the fault of the hotel).
Super thin walls, I literally heard when the curtain in the next room was pulled up/down. The fridge in the room wasn't working, wasn't fixed. But the staff was nice and put my cheese in their fridge in lobby. Restroom in the lobby/fitness area had dirty floor.

The staff were really accommodating (allowing me to store my bag until the afternoon after I'd checked out was a life saver, thank you!!) and the room was cosy and cute, and the view outside was charming. Also a great location, and I found it easy to walk to things from there. Also loved the restaurant, which was very sweet and the food was delicious.
It would be good to have streaming/casting options on the tv so guests aren't forced to watch whatever's on (feels unnecessarily old-fashioned) and maybe change your phones so it's not so easy to bump it and accidentally dial 911 in the middle of the night when you're half awake (which I did TWICE) and couldn't hang up on. I still have no idea how this happened but it should not be so easy.
