There is construction going on so the check-in and lobby are much smaller at this time, but everyone was amazing and there were cookies and Nespresso and kindness in abundance! I told them it was birthday and they sent bubbles & caramel corn to my room which was a nice touch. Excellent and friendly staff, including valets!

I did get a small classic queen room as it is just me and I don't need much room. It is a little awkward the way the closet is set up; difficult to get to the clothing side with hangers as the desk is right in the way so you have to contort yourself a bit to have access to the closet. Not a huge deal except I've been dealing with lower back pain and it was just more difficult for me than would normally be.

Rooms completely renovated. Good design, clean and all new. Beds are comfy. Hotel right on State street so it’s easy access to all the restaurants and bars. Hotel also had a coffee / tea station open at all times with baked cookies. They have a Nespresso coffee machine ! Yum

Property is currently being renovated and won’t be done before April 2025. Not really an issue. Also, the part of hotel closest to Sharky’s restaurant on weekends is loud and you can hear the music late into the night. Also, this hotel does not have a pool or jacuzzi . Overall great hotel to stay at. I’ve stayed here a few times and it’s my wife’s favorite place to stay in downtown Santa Barbara .

Alex went out of his way to welcome us and make our stay comfortable and special. The appointments of the hotel inside the room and for guests are great. Water bottles to keep and refresh through a water station. Fresh coffee in the rooms and lobby. Clean lobby and newly renovated 4th and third floors. Robes, (for purchase) snacks and drinks, well lit room, and great LATHER shower and bath amenities. Comfy and crisp linens and bedding. Room temp control is on point. Super walkable location to many points of interest. Bike rentals on site.

Street noise at night. It's rowdy and "festive" in this area, and the room windows are not sound proof.

Rooms were excellent, and the location was absolutely wonderful (middle of state street, with all the cafes and shopping around; short walk to Stearns Wharf). The staff was friendly and helpful. This is a dog-friendly hotel, and our dog had a good time, too.

The lobby was closed for construction. The welcome emails did say "pardon us for the dust and construction", but didn't go into any detail about what was being done. Still, it was just a minor annoyance.

Location was central tourist location, accessible to restaurants in Santa Barbara. Room was newly renovated and very comfortable and good. There is no breakfast option in this hotel but there's cafes next door and all around and they provide free coffee at the lobby.

Nothing to complain. Because of construction, lobby was not accessible directly but this is temporary and staff were very very helpful making the stay very safe, comfortable and enjoyable.

The location of this hotel was excellent. Right in the downtown core so it was very easy to walk just about everywhere. The room was very charming and comfortable. Though small it was the perfect size for one person, but I think a couple would struggle to have enough space in a room this size And for those who need to get a workout in, the gym facilities looked pretty good. I’d planned on using them and noticed there was a Peleton. Although this place was pricey I would definitely stay here again.

It would have also been great if the hotel offered breakfast, especially when you consider the cost of the room each night. Also, I didn’t like how low the water pressure was in the shower. I didn’t particularly enjoy my showers as I felt it was too low for me to really feel like I was getting a decent shower.

The hotel is in a great location, easy access to everything in downtown SB. The room was very nice and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.

They were under construction so it was very inconvenient to going up and down to our room with a stroller. Also the valet parking was pretty expensive and you don't have an option to self-park.

First, as everybody wrote here - location, location, location! This hotel is in the middle of the main street, with tons of stores and restaurants, walking distance from the beach. You literally do not need any transportation while you are here. We LOVED it! Secondly , the hotel is very clean, the hallway smells amazing, the beds are very comfortable, and they even put a robe in the bathroom. Third - the staff are VERY kind, attentive, helpful and quick. I had a problem with my T.V, and they send a guy to my room within 10 min.

Sorry for all the dogs lovers..... I do not love dogs, and they allowed dogs in the hotel. ( I believe a lot of people will find it a big plus)

The location of Hotel Santa Barbara is right in the middle of State Street. We weren't interested in the rowdy bars nearby, but we were happy to walk to fine dining up the hill or towards the waterfront. Our room was set back, so the noise from the busy State Street wasn't too bad. I would recommend coming mid week and having more peace and quiet if that matters to you. The decor is understated and tasteful. Tranquil. The bed linens and towels are top shelf, the bathroom modern with fine shampoos and soaps, and comfy robe. Here's the thing that really made me sit up and pay attention: in addition to lobby coffee, each room has complimentary single serve pour over coffee with a kettle designed for pour over coffee. Nice touch. An even nicer touch was our special treat waiting for us in the room to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Finally, nice gym with Pelotons!

The elevator is slow and shared with the facilities management. So, we often took the stairs. I would have welcomed the exercise, but my knee was troubling me, so I would opt to wait when it really hurt. My understanding is that the new owners plan to remodel. The only thing that needs refreshing are the lobby tile floors and the stairs and floors wall to wall carpeting. Otherwise, I like the furnishing and sepia old photographs of historical Santa Barbara lining the walls.

I absolutely loved my stay at the historic Hotel Santa Barbara, from the moment I stepped in and was greeted by a very friendly receptionist. She made me feel welcome immediately and was so very helpful. The room was wonderful and very comfortable. It's a perfect location, right in the heart of State Street. Everything was walkable, and it was great to be there in the middle of all the action and great shops, restaurants, and bars. The valet parking guys were also very friendly and helpful. I appreciate that they always had the car out quickly for me. Really great experience all around!
