The property was beautiful close to everything that you can possibly walk to!

What I didn’t like about the property is that they asked for security deposit of $100 and when my trip was over all kinds of cash was coming out of my account so some fraudulent transactions were done after staying there!! Not very happy with that but luckily my bank was able to take action! Won’t stay there again!

We enjoyed our stay! It was awesome. We loved that we had a big room, a balcony, the beds were very comfy (great mattress). There was unexpected continental breakfast at the hotel. There were dishes and bottle openers and a coffee maker. It was really really good.

There were few minor things that could've been better, but they weren't deal breakers at all nor they made our stay less pleasant, e.g. the toilet paper dispenser was on the left side and very low, so one has to lean over to get to it, it's kind of odd location for a toilet paper dispenser. There was no bathtub in the room but the shower was good, and the water was nice and hot, although the water pressure is not very high.

The location of this property is amazing! So close to the beach, but very quiet! The breakfast in the morning was a nice touch, although they only served an egg option 1 day of our 3 night stay. There was sausage and bacon and pastries and coffee and juice. We went to the pool one afternoon, even though it was January and it was so clean and warm! It was great! The nighttime staff was so friendly when we checked in and made us feel very welcome. Very cute place, and beautiful neighborhood. Everything we needed was walking distance, including State Street. There is a cute little courtyard with a fountain where we enjoyed some wine in the evening. Over all it is a really great place to stay.

We only had 2 complaints. One, is that the cleaning solution they used on our room was so overwhelming we had to air the room out and ask housekeeping to please not use any chemicals. It literally made us sick when we walked in. We are not allergic, it was just extremely unpleasant. The problem was graciously fixed quickly though! Secondly, Our grown children had a down stairs room on the street and I don't recommend this. They were awakened in the middle of the night to vomiting outside there door. There is a homeless population, that I'm sure are harmless, but I would recommend asking for a 2nd floor courtyard room. They also mentioned their room had a musty smell.

Excellent stay at this property. Very clean, nicely decorated, convenient wet bar with everything you need for a short stay. Huge refrigerator, utensils and lot of space. Best location near beach area and short walk to SB downtown. Best value, would love to be back again and again.

Motel room is clean updated, in a quiet location and a short walk to the harbor, with free and easy parking, and all the units are at one story level . In the room, there’s a Nespresso coffee maker and pods. At the check in office, they have complimentary water in a dispenser, tangerines and also cookies from 1pm-9pm. The continental complimentary basic breakfast has the usual bread,bagels , mini croissants, mini muffins , cereals, oatmeal, scrambled eggs and bacon.

No microwave, no tea kettle or tea in the room, but they do have a microwave in the office for the guests to use. The AC unit can be loud. The room smelled musty due to the age of the building , although it mostly dissipated when the AC was turned on.

First, Ben was simply the best! Always a huge smile and went above and beyond from check in to check out. I was so happy to see him at the front desk the next morning. Such a sweet man! Please thank him for us. Our dog loved the extra treats he gave her!! The hotel is beautiful and very tropical. I loved seeing passion fruits all over. I wish I was there to see them ready to pick. Loved the pool. It was perfect temperature and so clean. Super quiet hotel. Bed was so comfy. Very well decorated in a minimalist and functional way. The breakfast was so delicious with egg bites and yummy mini croissants and the coffee very good. Loved the free cookies and coffee 24 hrs a day and lemon water. I definitely will want to go back to Santa Barbara again and The Franciscan will be my first choice. I actually looked up rates for Christmas time with our grown kids, but was very surprised at the price. $36k per room for 5 days. I will try again. It has to be wrong. I only paid $163 + pet fee for my one night stay. 🥲

We especially loved Ben, who was super welcoming! - Our room was clean. - Comfortable bed & pillows! - Lots of parking. - Great location, close to Stearns Wharf/beach & downtown SB. - Breakfast was fantastic (sausage, bacon, eggs, bagels & pastries, cereal, orange juice, milk, coffee, tea, & hot chocolate). If I could be selfish and add a tiny suggestion, add hash browns and/or waffles lol. - Afternoon cookies = delicious treats! - we enjoyed the pool. - Hotel is beautiful & well kept!

- Wished our room had a microwave. - No other complaints!

First and foremost, I like my time staying in the Franciscan hotel. So many good things I can say about it: superb customer service from the front desk staff Ben, cozy and elegant interior design of the room, great location with easy access to the beach and downtown area, quiet neighborhood (not facing a busy street), great breakfast, etc. I extended my stay for one more day at the original price. However, both nights I heard noise from my neighbor. First night there’s television noise and second night the couple was having a big fight midnight (I can hear exactly what they said, not that I wanted to). I understand walls are very thin in inns generally, and this hotel is no exception. I was able to ask front desk for help at 11pm before their office hour ended, but shouting and yelling was what we could not control. I still gave an 8/10 for my experience. If you choose to stay here, please be mindful of your volume and DO NOT have a fight at midnight!!!

Great breakfast - it was relatively limited in options but everything that was there was really tasty. They provided fresh baked cookies and tangerines, plus to-go hot drinks for free throughout the day. Free bike rental for 2 hours. The decor was really nice and the receptionists were really friendly and went out of their way to be welcoming and helpful. Hot tub was a nice extra surprise.

We had a noisy couple in the room next door, blasting music for hours. Reception tried to get them to quiet down but the people never answered the phone or door. Eventually we had to move rooms quite late at night.

I liked the prompt service. My husband and I arrived and was given a room that was was not ready to be occupied, meaning the bed was not made and there was trash etc. but as soon as the manager spotted that, he quickly apologized and moved us to a suite at no extra charge. He was extremely concerned about the mistake that had occurred and apologized for the inconvenience caused and took our belongings and settled us in the nice suite. He was extremely professional and very attentive. He even offered a free night next time we need to stay here in Santa Barbara. The room was very clean and had everything you couldn’t find in other pricey hotels. My husband and I will definitely come back and refer this hotel to others!
