My wife and I have been coming to Santa Barbara for over 30 years and always enjoyed our accommodations. this time however was way beyond our best expectations in every regard imaginable. Perfection personified! Sooooo clean, quiet, accessible to everything anyone could want and the appointments, accoutrements? were absolutely beautiful. very... VERY well done. the staff during our four-night stay was exemplary. Actually, both my wife and I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at the uniquely exceptional... Castillo Inn and verrrrrrrrrrry highly recommend it to one and all.

Extrapolate from the above and logically conclude that... "Leaving" would be apropos here.

I stayed just one night in transit therefore cannot say much about the location and additional ammenities, but the room was superb! Super clean, furnished in a practical and cosy way, with all ammenities and comfort needed. The bed was the best! The staff was going the extra mile and was super helpful - even though my flight was delayed and I arrived after check-in time, they patiently explained the procedure to me and made sure I got the key to the room and arrive safely. Highly recommend!

This is a nice motel situated not far from the Santa Barbara beach. It's about a 5 min walk to the sand. The room was nice and spacious. There was a full size TV, mini-fridge, Keurig coffee maker, ironing board, hair dryer and nice amenities you don't always see in hotels. The room was also kept clean and fresh. And the staff was friendly and accommodating. And considering the location the rate was very reasonable.

They do not have a pool, so if you want to swim you have to go to the ocean which honestly is not that cold, although this is a NorCal perspective of what a cold ocean is.

The liquid left in the water heating appliance when we checked in. No choice to purchase any addt. time on check out. We were there 1 night. Due to traffic it took 5 1/2 hrs. From Santa Monica had a concert at Bowl, back to room midnight.. no paerying, drinking, just tired. Woke up just before check out. Requested to purchase a late checkout. Request denied. Had not used shower, kitchen, tv just slept, not a lot to clean. There was 5 hrs til next check in.. And puchasable extension of 2 to 3 hrs shouldn't have been out of the question.. no breakfaat and Pool looked nice but no time to have a quick swim..perhaps you might consider making this a option based on extenuating circumstances. Thank you.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were late arriving and they called to check on us around 5:00pm and 9:00pm, and offered to make arrangements so we could still get our key if we showed up after hours. They also gave us a good recommendation to a local bakery for breakfast. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. There was no noise from the street and we got a good night's sleep. The bathroom was also spacious with OK water pressure in the shower. We were able to park right outside our door which made loading & unloading our luggage easy. The marina is just a few minute's walk, and there is a beautiful beach just a short ways after that. We were in town for a UCSB campus visit so we did not visit the beach, but I can see the location is great for those who are. Likewise the Santa Barbara downtown area is just a short drive away, so the location overall is excellent.

One set of ceiling lights kept blinking or wavering, about once a minute. Fortunately they were on a separate switch so we could just turn those off and still keep the room illuminated. We paid extra for a patio room but it's not worth it. We expected a sort of sunny, outdoorsy space looking out at landscaping or maybe a pool. Instead it's just concrete with a high wood fence around it, since the parking lot is on the other side of the fence. Not really a pleasant space to go sit in.

Big comfy bed, pillows were nice too, not so big you sleep sitting up like many hotels. The facility is a motel one story with no upstairs hotel guests & your car is right nearby. I didn’t hear the neighbors next-door either. They let me check in early. Super easy check in process. Plenty of towels and a mini coffee maker and fridge in the king room. The patio is really nice and the location near the beach And included parking are an added bonus. The heat worked great in January. Great for a short business trip.

The carpets look kind of old and gross. Which is literally the only thing I could pick on.

Very nice facility, well maintained, friendly staff, very helpful, clean and comfortable beds. It's a small quaint inn close to beach & walking distance but off a bit from the beaten path. Park across st IF you get a room with patio which is Nice :) Would stay here again!

The rates differ from one customer to anoyher depending what site you book on. I tried to get a price match as I heard person in front of me paid a lot less but they did have a standard room vs mine was a 2 queen patio room.

Great location. Walking distance to beach, restaurants & shopping. The private side patio was lovely. Courteous staff. Comfy pillows & bedding.

As an older property it could have some updates. There were no reading lights near the beds just overhead lights for the whole room & a shared bedside table. It needs a second mirror in the main room. My daughter didn’t bring lotion and none was provided. I hate the tiny plastic bottles but a larger permanent dispenser would be nice.

The location, being right by a park and away from the hubbub, was quiet, the room was a great size and the bed + bedsheets + pillows were very comfortable. The decor was pretty with nice updates while keeping period details. Castillo Inn nailed it on the most important things for a hotel: cleanliness and providing a good night's rest. The overhead climate control system is nice and quiet. I also like that it's right by the water.

The TV mount is too lightweight for the television, and so the TV constantly tilts down. I had to insert a plastic spoon into the mount to keep it from tilting. It was a Samsung TV but the internet connection was really bad so streaming was very poor quality and sometimes failed completely. Being over a mile's walk from downtown and a decent walk from the wharf meant it was a little inconvenient. So the tradeoff for quiet is extra walking/bicycling/driving. I would normally have rented a bicycle but the circumstances of my particular trip made it impractical. The cons definitely do not outweigh the pros and even though there are more words in the "cons" section I enjoyed my stay.

The room was good sized, clean and comfortable with a small patio. The staff was outgoing and helpful. The location is several blocks north of the Funk Zone and is an excellent location for the beach area. It is an excellent value choice if you're looking to explore Santa Barbara's beach and Funk Zone.

This is a place to stay, period. If you are looking for a pool, a bar, a breakfast onsite. This is not your place.
