The room was updated Retro Chic, had a table with chairs for eating etc, plus a big comfortable chair to relax in, along with the normal amenities. WE loved going to the pool and hot tub both days we were there which was really beautiful area and relaxing. The location was great, just several blocks or so from downtown St. Helena and convenient to shopping, wineries etc. We enjoyed the simple breakfast items plus coffee and juice, fruit in the mornings. This was a nice surprise!

The lights in the bathroom were really tricky to turn off and on, so we ended up using the mirror light the most, but were fine.

While it is older and rustic, it’s very charming. The grounds are lovely and well-kept. The trees and flowers on the property are beautiful. There are two fire pits and lots of outdoor areas to relax. It’s been recently updated so the beds are comfortable, the shower/tub was a good size. There is a coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. There are drinking and wine glasses and a corkscrew.

The second and third days there was not enough food at the complimentary continental breakfast. We were told that since the remodel the management did not know how many people to expect and did not get enough food. They called someone to run to the store but even then there was not enough. We were in town for the Andrea Bocelli concert nearby so they should’ve anticipated this. The only other thing was the traffic noise that can be heard when you are outside. We couldn’t hear it in our rooms as we were at the back of the property. The refrigerators could be upgraded.

Surprisingly quiet for the location right off hwy. Couldn't ask for a better location. And the room was newly remodeled and clean if austere and tiny. Bed was comfortable and AC kept humming along.

Appreciated the continental breakfast, which was quite minimal. However, the grapes and sweet strawberries made up for it. Also, work was being done, and we had to pull shades given the worker's proximity. And even though it didn't bother us as we were early risers, they started hammering away at about 7:30 Sunday morning. None of that would deter me from returning again, though.

Property is currently undergoing a complete renovation (which didn't affect us in the least) and has a great deal of potential. The location is convenient to St Helena and enjoying the Napa Valley, and will hopefully remain a good budget option (relatively speaking) in the area. If so, it could be quite the hidden gem. Beds were comfortable, the rooms are good size, and parking is easy and ample. We would definitely visit again.

Amenities are basic but exceeded expectations for a motel, the outdoor spaces spread around the property are particularly nice.

This overnight spot is clean and quiet. The grounds are very well kept and you can tell the owners take pride in the property. Bed was fluffy and comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was incredible! Breakfast is simple, but acceptable, I liked the strawberries and grapes. I would stay here again. It is a long walk to Farmstead and Taylors Refresher, but it can be done.

I was too tired to try the hot tub, but I will next time. I got lured into eating a donut which I almost never do. There was a guy in a Ford Raptor with Nevada plates that did not know how to park (took up two spaces) so I had to park further away from my room than I would like.

The property is a quaint motel that has been completely revamped. Rooms were nice, staff were great, and it kept the “motel vibe”. The only issue I have with Napa area hotels is that they are crazy overpriced. Check in at 3:00, check out at noon and it’s $1400 bucks and you never spent time on property. El Bonita is more reasonable and walkable to the event we attended. Napa needs to fix this before people stop coming.

Liked the murals all around the facility. Room with two queens was spacious and comfortable

The employee who checked us in was less than friendly. I called the front desk from our room because the WiFi password wasn’t working and was told that the office’s WiFi was functioning. When I took my phone to the office to ask her to input the password she told me that the password had changed from what was printed on the key card sleeve. No apology offered.

We liked that the room was clean, had parking in front of each room, and had soap, shampoo, and makeup remover wipes. We enjoyed the free breakfast (and that it went to 10:30 so we didn't have to get up too early) and thought the pool and hot tub were really nice. The main thing we enjoyed were that there were not many other people staying there so we didn't have to fight for seats at breakfast and enjoyed the pool to ourselves. I am sure this is different in the high season, but it felt cozy.

Our room was closest to the main road so it was quite loud in the mornings. The price was also crazy high for what we got. We know that the area is generally expensive, but we found it a bit silly to be forced to book 2 nights in order to stay and that the room was a bit outdated (I guess that is also expected for a "motel" but we thought it would be a bit more renovated if they charge $300 a night). We also would've loved to have pool towels!

This is a little hidden gem in St. Helena that I don't think you can be disappointed with. While Napa proper seems to be the place to stay, its quite a journey to head back to if you are wine tasting more north. We loved our quick stay at El Bonita. The motel is older, but its super cute, comfy, and just so easy to access. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, the room was spacious and met all of our needs. Our room was great, even had a little outdoor patio. The room had a wet bar with mini fridge and Keurig coffee maker, which makes breakfast a breeze if you bring it with you. Honestly no complaints and will stay again.

Not enough bath towels and the coffee situation is not great, however if you bring your own pods and creamer, you are all set!

Overall, I was very happy with my stay. The property is cute, rooms are updated enough, and staff was very friendly. Breakfast isn't top shelf, but had no problem with a croissant and fresh fruit.

I have only one critique, and I almost hate to mention it. When I reserved, I asked for a late checkout, which was graciously confirmed by email. I also confirmed when I checked in. But it seems it wasn't communicated to the day shift because housekeeping and the front desk both contacted me to check out at the standard time. This was a very minor thing in an otherwise lovely stay.
