Great selection of breakfast items. Could turn temperature up a wee bit on serving pans. Breakfast room was modern and clean! Your greatest asset to this location is the employees we were in contact with. The two-front desk gals were so accommodating in every respect, and their attentiveness at the Continental breakfast we as good! The third person we encountered on this trip and location was a lady in Housekeeping. Our room was super clean, and she greeted us on arrival and departure. We were happy to leave a tip to all three. We will return to this facility on our next adventure to the Western Slope of Colorado.

The extensive remodel of this facility can't be beat however the only thing that could have been improved upon is the lighting around the mirror at the wash sink going into the room. Yes, needed more light. Really a minor item, but you ask.

Price and staff.

The breakfast bar was decent. The hours were to be until 9:30. The second day of our visit I went to breakfast at 9:18…it had already been cleaned up. Including the bagels!

The front desk personnel, especially the person on the morning shift (sorry, I didn't get her name), was very personable, kind and accommodating. The breakfast was good. Scrabbled eggs (light, fluffy), hash brown potatoes and sausage (very good). It was your basic motel/hotel free breakfast. Bagels, bread for toast, cereals, apple and orange juice, coffee, etc. It was what you expect and enough to get you going in the morning. Very nice.

The motel/hotel was under renovation. At the time we were there, the elevator was not working and my brother-in-law has heart issues which would have made it nearly impossible for him to climb the stairs. Although we were booked into second floor rooms, we requested first floor and they accommodated our request. We had some electrical issues during our stay, but they were resolved quickly. I'm sure when the renovation bugs are worked out, this Best Western will be a truly nice place to stay.

This is no longer the Stay Wise Inn of Montrose. Best Western took over the property, but this has not yet been updated on any booking website. So, look for a Best Western sign and save yourself the aggravation of driving around in circles. The lobby and elevator were being renovated when we were there, so it felt as if we were entering a construction site. But I’m sure it will be lovely when the renovation is complete. Our room was modern and nicely decorated, but there wasn’t a lot of space between the foot of the bed and the desk, tv stand, shelving, etc. The full-length mirror was on a wall a few inches from one of the beds, which made seeing your full length in the mirror impossible. The shower and sink areas were modern. Beds were very comfortable. Everything was super clean. There was a closet-like space near the door, but no rod and hangers so no place to hang a coat/jacket. As with most Best Westerns, the complimentary breakfast was very good, with some hot items. No complaints really. These are little things. It was just fine for one night.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was comfortable, quiet, and recently renovated. The staff was incredible and super accommodating. Plenty of parking. We also enjoyed using the pool which was heated and clean. The breakfast was tasty and enjoyable.

The property is currently under construction, which made the halls and lobby quite dusty. Also the current state of the check in/ lobby/front entrance had the appearance that the place wasn’t even open due to construction supplies, etc. also the sign was a bit confusing because it says best western (which I assume will be the name once it is finished with renovations) overall once the renovations are finished, I believe this will be a great place to stay in montrose.

Breakfast was good. I liked the roll in shower. For this to be a handicapped accessible room, there weren’t handicapped rails in the shower. Also, couldn’t get the walker between the bed and dresser. The manager did call to let us know that the oxygen compressor was there at the hotel and that the company would pick it up after our stay. She was very nice. Really appreciated her calling to let us know.

The ongoing refurbishing of this property is going well. Our room was fresh and neat with new cabinets and fixtures. While the elevator was down during the reconstruction, it won't be long before the property is earning high marks in reviews.

Breakfast was below expectations. Waffle maker available, but no mix. Eggs and hash browns, but no bacon or sausage. ... The room TV stayed in an update loop and wouldn't give us programming. ... While turned on, the bathroom fan sent flakes of insulation down from the ceiling.

Recently refurbished so great modern interior with easy to clean surfaces. Big shower with plenty of hot water and very comfortable bed and quiet air conditioning. Excellent breakfast- even had twinings teabags! Is rebranding as a Best Western so look for the best western sign NOT a sign for Stay Wise Inns. Friendly and helpful staff, guest laundry and plenty of parking. Great base for black canyon of the gunnisons national park- 20 minutes to south rim drive and one hour to north rim drive.

I liked the location, decor as in the carpets were sooo cool with fishing theme! Breakfast was great of everything & more, kitchen dining well kept, clean. Staff was very friendly & helpful!!!

Room carpet, under furniture & bathroom could be cleaner please. More towels & if staff could check shower/sink fixtures. Shower fixtures were put on backwards, it was a late flight & all I wanted was a hot shower & bed, since fixtures were backwards, I thought there was no hot water & I panicked. Staff tried to call for assistance, I ended up playing with fixtures & discovered on backwards. Being tired from all day long flight & layovers, I was extremely tired & frustrated.

The Stay Wise Inn was the last thing before heading out of town toward the Black Canyon of the Gunnison which was convenient for our early start to the park the following day. It is not really walking distance to restaurants, etc. However, the Horsefly Brewery is just a wee bit up the road and was excellent with fantastic live band out of Paonia the night we were there. Per a local’s suggestion, our first night we drove back across to the south end of town, which was less than 15 minutes, to eat at Tacos and Beer, where the octopus and shrimp tacos were out of this world. Glad we listened. Rooms were standard and staff was very pleasant. They are in the process of becoming part of the Best Western network, which is supposed to be complete (possibly after some upgrades) by the end of 2024. The biggest disappointment was that the hot tub had been completely cemented in, but we did enjoy a cool dip in the pool after a hot day at the park. A separate note that due to the bridge out to Crested Butte, we took the northern route over McClure Pass and it was beautiful with almost zero traffic on a Sunday morning.

The hot tub no longer existed and that was part of why I chose this hotel. But the pool is nice.
