I arrived here after a long drive from my house to the airport, then a flight from California to Boston, then another hour-and-a-half Uber ride (traffic) from the airport to the hotel to do a small memorial for my mother's recent passing. It was wonderful to pull into a clean, quaint, calm environment and the person who greeted me at the lobby (I forget his name, but he was amazing, funny and so kind) was the best person I could encounter at a time like that. Compassionate with my travels and the reason why, he provided information about the property, explained what on the property was available for how much longer (it was getting late), and made sure I knew how to reach anyone if need be. I found my room and walked into a gorgeous, enchanting under-the-sea world that made me cry. I had purchased a regular room and the gentlemen bumped me to the sea-theme room. I took pictures immediately and called home to share with family that couldn't make it and it warmed everyone's heart. Kindness in any capacity is always appreciated but certain things just make your heart sing especially when so vulnerable. Under normal circumstances, my mom would have been the person I would have called to tell about such an amazing thing happening but I know she saw it for herself. The room was so detailed, colorful, and artful. The amenities were perfect and it just felt so comfortable. Also, I enjoy getting a small walk in to take in any environment I am in. Something that begins you a little bit away from the activity so you can see the real environment, real neighborhood, and real neighbors before you get to the more commercialized location. This provided a perfect 15-20 minute walk before really entering the busy activities of Salem during Halloween and there were plenty of beautiful areas to look at along the way.
Everything was great. Calm, clean, great.

What a cute place to stay. We stayed in the Pirate Themed room, and it was very nice and well decorated. I am from Montana so this was a unique stay for us. The beds were comfortable, and the shower was amazing
We felt that for the price, during off season was little high. There is also no one on staff in the evenings or at night. Due to this the rooms need to be stocked better. We ran out of coffee and towels, and were not able to get those restocked as we were only there one night.

We had such a lovely stay at The Cove Hotel during our girls trip to Salem! The hotel was absolutely quaint—full of charm and character that made it feel like a cozy retreat. Everything was immaculately clean, from the rooms to the common areas, and you could tell the staff really takes pride in maintaining a welcoming environment. It was the perfect home base for exploring Salem, and we loved coming back to such a peaceful space after our adventures. One small suggestion: we’d recommend adding a few more mirrors around the room or suite—especially helpful when you’ve got a group of women getting ready at the same time!

I booked the room at the last minute and was so amazed with the place once we opened the door to our room. It was super stylish, clean and well done. Great location and will definitely be booking another stay there next time I have to be in Boston. Absolutely LOVED it and only wish I was there for longer than 24 hours … look forward to next visit!

Neat vibe and helpful, friendly staff! Beds are comfortable, and the room is modern and clean. The amenities offered are nice. Our room had an electric tea kettle with a variety of teas and instant coffee. A small round table with seating for 4 and a sitting area separate from the bedroom. Upon check-in, we were offered assistance with unloading our bags and setting up the pull-out sofa bed. There is a neat area that has vending machines, a foosball table, and a hangout area. Outside in the courtyard is a nice seating area with a firepit.
I won't deduct any points from my review because there are so many great things about this hotel, but just an FYI to those visiting soon... there is construction going on. The dozers started up around 6:40 A.M. Upon arrival, we were informed that the work begins around 7AM, and management is working on pushing it back a little later, but it seems they start a little earlier than that. So just to prepare you, if you like to sleep in, that might not be an option for you.

Our stay at the Cove was awesome! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the room was very clean, and our kid absolutely loved the fact that he had a pirate ship in a vine covered cove in his room! We stayed in one of the themed rooms, the Pirate Room, and it was perfect! We loved that the bedroom with the pirate ship and hanging leaves and vines was separated from the living room, decorated like a captain's quarters, by double doors. The bed was also very comfortable, and all of us slept in the next morning (which hardly ever happens). We stop in Salem every summer and this is our new favorite place! Our 9 year old also loved the game room, and we all enjoyed hanging out by the fire pit at night after exploring Salem. Thanks for such a great stay, we'll definitely be back!
Nothing, everything was great. We feel lucky that we were able to book here because it will probably become harder to book as more and more people discover it.

We had a pleasant stay at The Cove Salem, but there were a few aspects that fell short of expectations. We initially booked the Forbidden Forest theme room, but had to switch due to the sheer forest curtains, which allowed outside light to enter the room. We then stayed in the King Suite, which was otherwise lovely, but the intense exterior lighting, which remains on all night, made it difficult to sleep, despite the black curtains. The motel-style property is well-kept, with comfortable beds and clean rooms. However, at this price point, we expected hotel-grade blackout curtains and warmer, more inviting lighting inside the room. Additionally, the ongoing construction around the property further detracted from the experience. While the stay was generally enjoyable, the high cost did not align with the overall offering
- No hotel-grade blackout blinds - Intense lighting outside coming into the room - Construction onsite - Overpriced

Super cute boutique hotel!! Our room, the witches suite, was decorated to the finest detail!! The beds are so comfortable and the sheets are just so soft!! One of the best showers you will find with very nice amenities. The room was supplied with bottle water in the refrigerator which was very nice. Our last night we curled up on the couch and watched a movie. Felt like a second home!!
The property is awesome. I’m used to having staff in the lobby on the premises when I stay at hotels so not having staff on hand was a little uncomfortable. We were a late check in so I was glad the code to the room worked just fine.

The property was updated and clean. In my opinion, the furnishings and finishes were a mix of higher end and budget; an example being the couch, fridge and bathroom fixtures seemed to be of higher quality than you’d find in the majority of hotels, boutique or chain, but the coffee table and dining set were more or less ikea quality. I appreciated that the accommodations that mattered most were prioritized. For our stay, a daily touch from housekeeping was the standard, with the option to decline each day; a lovely amenity that’s not typical anymore outside of luxury accommodations. The current building sits at the back of the property behind an expansive lawn, impeccable summer landscaping, and a meticulously designed patio with ample seating in front of the building. The wooded side of the property provides an enclosed, comfortable vibe and the few old growth trees on site provide a great mix of shade and sun for enjoying the mild-volume, upbeat background music they seemed to have turned on around the patio quite often. The Cove is only a 20 minute walk to the touristy area, but free from the chaos of the touristy area (August). I appreciated the required walk for the opportunity to take various walking routes through lovely small streets of Salem each day, the little cove nearby, the great old school bakery with all the iced beverage options one could want only a few blocks from the hotel. The Cove is where you want to stay if you’re going to Salem, in my opinion. And from my recollection, it was the only property that could accommodate our desire for a double queen suite while visiting. Five stars.
I would have preferred a more refined system for temperature control in the room. Not enough air flow and we would have preferred it a couple degrees cooler. That being said, it was certainly cooler than most stores and places we experienced in the area.

Super comfy bed. Super cute atmosphere! Rooms are very updated and really pretty. The outdoor area with fire pits was gorgeous. Friday night Pop up bar. Pop up food truck. Movie outside on a projector! Room was huge. Will definitely book again. Can't wait to go back.
No one told us there would be a pop up bar, food truck and outdoor movie! The construction site next door wasn't wonderful to look at. But I understand. Needs a clear walkway to the street from the fireplace area. I had to walk through the grass a little. Not a big deal, but I didn't want to wet my shoes or ruin the grass. Place is a little pricey.
