When you go through a booking agent sometimes you don’t always get the best rooms or the best views. But when I booked I selected a balcony Lake Huron view and let me tell you it was PERFECT. The best part was getting up every morning, drinking a cup of coffee and looking out over the lake. The Dockside Waterfront Inn had its own beach right behind the property (not private). The hotel was 4/10th of a mile from downtown. Parking downtown can be tight so anytime we wanted to shop or eat we walked. Also, and this was a huge bonus, the hotel is only 1/4 mile from Shepler’s Ferry which runs to Mackinac Island. We walked to the Ferry and saved money on having to pay for parking.

Parking at the hotel is very tight. If we went out late in the afternoon when we came back it was hard to find a parking spot and the ones that were left we very hard to get into.

We love the location, we love the lake view, we love the affordability and we love the quiet.

We didn’t like that the people staying in the room below us and one over were smoking what seemed like continuously on their balcony. The smoke was so bad we couldn’t enjoy our balcony. We were there 3 days and the best weather day there we couldn’t sit outside because of the smoke. We didn’t feel comfortable complaining because we were the only ones on the second floor and we were worried about retaliation. I did tell the hotel at check out but all they said was “you should have said something, we’re a non smoking facility”. I explained about the retaliation issue and she just shrugged. Meanwhile there was a worker standing outside the door in plain sight smoking and she did nothing. Not sure my complaint would have been heard.

We loved how much space our suite gave us as a family of 5! The wooden pocket doors between the bedrooms were perfect. Having the toilet and the shower behind a closed door was a good idea. The fireworks outside our room were a welcoming surprise!

There needs to be a charging station for multiple devices. Times are changing, having an alarm clock is not as necessary as having your phone near where you sleep. Some type of night light feature would be nice for the middle of the night trips to the bathroom. We had no need for a refrigerator but the room had plenty of space to accommodate one.

Loved the king suite with spa bathroom, it was pretty and a great price for having a jacuzzi.

My only complaint is that the jacuzzi apparently looked clean, I even wiped it down with a Clorox wipe before using it just to make sure. But when we turned it on, we saw something orange floating on the water, it kinda ruined the mood because I was all the time worried about that stuff and couldn’t stay in for too long. Probably something that was inside the jets or the faucet, since we didn’t see before.

The location was great and the room was nice but we had 5 ppl in a room and stayed 4 nights and our room was only cleaned once. The other days we were handed towels and toilet paper. Other than not having our rooms cleaned the location was great and being on the beach was a plus and a great view from our room! An overall good experience!

House keeping was very slow and only cleaned our room 1 out of 4 days with 5 ppl in the room.

Most everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. The layout and area for breakfast was great, and the food was good. Both mornings we were there, tho', the selection was the same. Would've been nice to have a change.

Our room, was decent size and the bed was comfortable and clean. But the overall room was dark, had been wet (dehumidifier was set up and running under the sink), and was desperately in need of upgrading/renovating/modernizing (carpet was dark red; furniture was old; lighting was minimal; bathroom door had a hole in it....). We were comfortable enough and luckily weren't confined to our room due to bad weather or something. For the price we paid, we are able to say the room was "just good. Not great, not bad---just good".

There was a wedding so people were walking up and down on 3rd floor deck. Outside vaping and smoking and talking. For some reason they stood in front of our room. Also neighbor next door kept going in and out slamming door. Room was nice. Hopefully you start working on the walls in bathroom. Need repainting or touch up the rust. One young staff person gal didn’t want to be bothered. Stay was fine. Great location.

Our room had a view of the lake, which definitely worth it. Breakfast was good and a in a nice clean room, and great coffee! Enjoyed the pool and hot tub until late at night. Son used the gym facility and liked it. I used the business center for some last minute work stuff. Nice and quiet. The hotel is close to everything. Staying there gets you discount at local restaurants and shops. Use it!

Close to the ferry services over to the Island and many shops within walking distance. Staff was friendly. Nice pool although we didn't use it. The back of the hotel had a little beach area with a beautiful view. Rooms were large, nicely decorated and clean. Beds were pretty comfortable. We stayed in a queen room with 2 queen beds.

The exterior could use some updating. It must have been a busy weekend coming up during our stay because the hotel was packed and parking was not easy to find in the evening when we got back from our adventures.

Good location, close to main street and Ferry station, friendly stuff, beach area and indoor pool. Old hotel, like all others around, but well maintained and very clean. Coffee machine in the lobby makes fabulous coffee.

Not sure, the only issue I have is the noise from the plumbing when someone near your room uses the shower. But this is due to the insulation when the hotel was build, so not easy fixable I guess. That is common issue with all the hotels around the area. But it is not a deal breaker for me.
