The location was perfect—central to the whole Metro Detroit sprawl. We easily bounced from Macomb to downtown to Novi, visiting friends and family, but the real treat was parking the car and just walking into downtown Royal Oak for dinner and drinks. Reception and housekeeping were top-notch—genuinely kind, responsive, and on it. The whole place has a fun, retro Motorlodge vibe with a cool Detroit twist—like someone restored a classic car and gave it a patio playlist.

Minor stuff. Some extra hooks in the room would’ve helped with towels, bags, and jackets? You might catch a bit of parking lot chatter or road noise, but it's a motor lodge! All part of the fun! Absolutely nothing that took away from the overall great stay.

Perfectly situated, close to everything we needed. Loved the layout! It made it easy and comfortable for my family to hang out together without feeling cramped. The hotel staff went out of their way to accommodate our request for rooms close together, which we greatly appreciated. This is my second stay and will not be my last when returning to Metro Detroit area.

I've had issues with app-based entry before, and again with this stay. That said, it was quickly resolved with a traditional key, so more of a heads-up than a true complaint.

This was a nice little hotel and I appreciate a small business.

The breakfast is an option of a breakfast sandwich made from sliced bread, plastic cheese and a sad egg. Crappy coffee or tea. So I don't eat gluten so it was a overfried egg with processed cheese for me. No options for vegans. Not even oatmeal. You could get 2 dollars off but the other food at the diner they send you is not good. I would suggest expanding the menu options or don't say this is breakfast included. Motel/hotel breakfast isn't usually amazing but not having different options for other diets is antiquated and misleading.

Staff was very pleasant and welcoming. Loved the atmosphere and swanky lobby. Very unique concept of modernizing what was once just an old motor inn style motel. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, very lovely gentleman who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

If I had to say anything I guess the room itself seamed to be missing some key items- only one bedside table and no chair available.

Vibrant hotel to match the equally vibrant city of Royal Oak. I didn't want to stay at a boring ole hotel chain and this place seemed like a cool unique stay for the weekend. It definitely did not disappoint. The breakfast was cool in partnering with the next door cafe. And the hotel staff were so genuine and friendly. The rooms were clean with a mix of vintage and new. Extremely close to everything. I walked everywhere from the hotel.

The room was wonderful, the staff was great, having a lounge area curtain den in the parking lot was outstanding.

Only two things, we couldn’t get the TV working, but I guess it was because a new system was put in. It would’ve been nice if they had some juices available with the Continental breakfast.

Loved staying there one night for a show at Royal Oak Music Theatre! It was a super quick drive or a 20-minute walk to the venue. The front desk staff were so friendly and helpful! They had a bar with lots of drinks, snacks to order, and free breakfast bagels, pastries, and coffee – would definitely stay here again!

We have stayed here many times. The facilities are always welcoming and clean. The location is awesome especially for seeing a show at the Royal Oak Theater; it's within walking distance. I love the decor, the common area for people to gather and its clean.

We weren't able to watch TV. I called the front desk and a HDMI cable was missing. Once that was installed the TV worked for a few minutes then no sound. Bummer.

Absolutely a comfortable and fun vibe. Motel Turned into a modern era , tech oriented artistic hotel. Staff is amazing, added amenities like lobby bar, recreation area with beach chairs and dj booth, pool table lounge. Felt like a resort!

Maybe , no continental breakfast. Even for sale I'd buy it.

The contactless check-in was novel, using bluetooth to unlock the door. The renovations to turn this older property into a cute boutique hotel were well executed. The property is dated, but clean and pleasant. Voucher for breakfast at adjacent restaurant was nice, too.

Lack of seating in the room...a small side chair or two wouldn't have taken up too much space. Still opportunity for some cosmetic fix-ups around the building and grounds, but nothing that was a negative experience.
