Debbie and Mike were exceptionally welcoming. My 2 teen daughters and I arrived around 8:30pm and checked-in. We were hungry, so Mike suggested not going to room and heading to Chili Hills restaurant (closes at 9pm). Mike called ahead and the great people at Chili Hills fed us a delicious meal. When we returned from dinner my daughters and I went back in to lobby to meet Libby (sic) the "guard" cat. My daughters loved Libby and the 5 of us talked about the Route 66 trip we were on, the history of the motel, etc. It was such a memorable addition to our CHI to LA road trip. They also provided breakfast bags with delicious pastries and fruit. The room was immaculate and and the grounds were so inviting for an evening hangout. Would definitely recommend and would love to stay again, if it ever comes up.

I added two hours to my loooong day of driving simply because I LOVE this motel. Extremely clean, comfortable, safe, yummy treat bag of fruit and pastries provided upon check in, what is not to like? Historical decor (bathroom tile is so cool). Very friendly and informative management. I encourage you to support this local, family-owned business. Unlike the cookie cutter chains, staying at the Sunset Motel Moriarity is an experience in and of itself. :) Stay here!

We loved the vibe of this hotel. It was like stepping back in time. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Check-in was a breeze and the owner was very friendly. It was such a nice surprise to receive a bag of pastries for the next morning's breakfast - they were delicious. Parking was very easy, which is great when you have a 26 foot truck. I noticed they had installed new Tesla chargers as well. The experience at Sunset Motel made this one of our favorite stops on our road trip. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Very retro motel right down to the wood paneling and avocado-colored carpet in our unit. Family owned business and their pride in the product shows. We are used to seeing signs of deferred maintenance, but this place was shipshape except for a rusting chrome drain ring in one of the 2 bathroom sinks, and some fraying of the weatherseal on the outside door bottom. Breakfast in a bag with great pastries and fruit. Coffee maker in the room. We have some pet dander allergies, so asked for a room that might be short on dander. We weren't sneezing any more than normal the next day, so I think that worked even though they advertise "pet friendly."

The room was nice size, very clean and for the most part, comfortable. We enjoyed the morning to go bag with pastries and fruit.

The biggest downer was the noise from the outside, such as truck traffic, etc. It was as if the vehicles were driving right next to our room so some type of noise reducing materials would be helpful. The other problem was the door did not shut tight with the door knob but this was mitigated by the fact that it had two dead bolt type locks!

Sunset motel reminded me of taking trips when I was a kid. The red chairs & side tables between each room reminded me of the days when folks would actually sit in them & chat with other guests. And guests there do make use of them. Retro, very clean & the gentleman at the front desk was a very pleasent. Check & out was a breeze, price is great. My granddaughter loved it & we definitely plan on going back.

Easy to check in. I like the old-fashioned ambience including an actually key to the door of my room. The owner went the extra mile for me and changed my reservation to a week earlier w/o any extra charge. This is a special place run my business people who know how to treat customers. Don't miss it.

The motel was completely full that evening so it was difficult to get on the internet.

The owner was friendly and gave us excellent information about where to eat. The breakfast baggie had delicious pastries in it. We loved that the room was extremely clean and had a mini split unit that was quiet and kept us comfortable. The beds were comfortable as well. Overall, the hotel was quiet.

We did not have a bad experience at this location. Everything met our expectations.

I loved everything about this place! I have always wanted to stay at a Route 66 motel, and I'm so glad we stayed at this one. The owner was very friendly and provided information about restaurants in the area. The motel is well maintained and very comfortable. The attention to detail is impressive. There are "goodnight" Hershey kisses in the room. The room has wifi and 130 TV channels. You are given a continental breakfast bag containing fruit and pastries. I highly recommend this motel!

The entire motel and staff....THE BEST. Very charming with a splash of 50's retro. Location, very easy to get in and out from I-40. I plan on making a trip in Spring to AZ. I will most definitely be making a reservation for a night's stay at the wonderful Sunset Motel. The beds, super comfortable. Very clean. Outdoors, well kept. It's a lovely lil gem off I-40🥰

Nothing negative to say. It's charming and well kept. A must for all travelers!
