We love the location, the size of the rooms, the amazing staff, everything. The property is always very clean and well maintained, and the pool towels being provided was a nice bonus. We can not say enough nice things about the staff! Every member of the front desk team is fantastic and the housekeeping / groundskeeping crew are truly some of the best ever.

We have no complaints. If I had a "wish list" item it would be for on site laundry facilities, however we stayed for 6 nights this time and last year when we stayed for only 3 nights, the need for laundry never even crossed my mind.

The room was clean, spacious and had a wet bar, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. It had shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the shower. It was very quiet at night to sleep. There is a tram shuttle stop in front of the hotel which we used. The Pony Island Restaurant serves a delicious breakfast from 7-11am. The swimming pool had beach towels to use. The Variety Store to get groceries was a short distance away.

No elevator. We were on the second floor but we loved our room and sitting in the chairs outside over looking the pool.

At check-in I was helped by Roger. Very nice and helpful. The next day I encountered Chris. A delightful person. Very courteous and friendly. Attentive. Room was very clean and updated. Excellent Service!

I loved everything. If I HAD to choose something, it would be the step up into the room. I had no problem but I could see how it may hinder some with disabilities. I'm sure they had other rooms to accommodate those with disabilities though. I was disappointed that being a holiday weekend (Veterans Day) the majority of the businesses had already closed for the season, but this is no reflection on Pony Island Inn.

Very impressed with how clean this motel was! Honestly better kept than most "high end" hotels we have ever stayed in. We stayed in a courtyard side room with 2 double beds and found it to have more than adequate space for our needs and offered lots of storage. There was a 6 drawer dresser, an area to hang about a dozen items, a good sized nightstand with a cubby beneath, a 2 person table, plus beds are also raised so you can tuck bags and stuff underneath of them. The pool and pool deck were also both very clean and well maintained. Oh, and there is an ice machine on the property which was a very helpful thing to have.

This is not really a complaint, it is just the only slight inconvenience we had. In our particular room, the water pressure via the shower head was very weak. Pressure was fine at both the sink facet and as it ran out of the tub faucet, but using as a shower it was such light pressure that it was very difficult to rinse off, especially when washing our hair. We were able to work around it though so for us it was manageable.

The room was nice and clean and the beds were comfortable. The location was great and easy access to everything. The free tram stop location was outside the hotel making it easy to get around the shopping area and restaurants. Finally, the pool was clean and refreshing.

The housekeeping service was lacking. We put the “Please service the room” sign out when we left the room but housekeeping never showed up to refresh the towels or leave coffee and cups for the following morning. Needless to say, we did not leave a tip for housekeeping.

Chris was a friendly, helpful receptionist. He gave us a list of restaurants and other businesses that were open, off season in November. That was very helpful! The room was clean and comfortable. It was located in a quiet area. The bed covers were cheerful with bright colors. We slept well. There was a poster on the wall with NC fish. We are a NC family with a fishing heritage so many of the fish were familiar to us. We were happy to have a microwave and small refrigerator in the room. That was a delightful surprise. We had a double standard room on the ground floor and just expected the basics.

No restaurant on property. That was not a deal breaker though.

The owner was 8th generation on Ocracoke. He was accommodating and friendly. Offered a folder of menus when we asked which restaurants were open during November. He gave us a map of the island, we walked everywhere, to the lighthouse, shopping and dinner. Our room was spacious and came with a kitchen area including frig, microwave and a small coffee pot with extra coffee 😀

The location was on the main thoroughfare and very convenient to many attractions, from the beach to restaurants and shopping. I liked having windows on two sides of the room that could be opened for the fresh breeze and the kitchenette, with a small fridge, microwave, and sink. The room was attractive and clean. It had a table with two chairs, a lamp, and a ceiling fan. It also had a hairdryer and provided shampoo and shower gel in a dispenser in the shower. We used the blanket that was provided. We rented a golf cart and enjoyed visiting with friends who were staying nearby and exploring sites such as Springer's Point, the Preservation Society, and Howards' Cemetary. Our favorite activity, which we did three of the four afternoons we were there, was to watch the fishing charters unload their catches onto the dock. We also enjoyed sitting on the porch in comfortable chairs to watch the evening sun with a bottle of wine and some snacks from a local deli.

I prefer a more firm mattress, but I know many prefer softer ones. We did not realize before we arrived all the amenities that might have been available to us, such as the pool, golf carts, and possibly bicycles. The door had a useful rack of hooks on the back, but near the bathroom, there was also a shelf with a bar that could have provided clothes hangers, but none were present. A tiny amount of hand-dishwashing soap would have been welcomed. We liked the pillows, but there were only two of them for the two of us. A third or even fourth pillow, more or less firm, would have been appreciated.

The location is excellent, an equal distance from the beach access and the village. The adjacent restaurant is also good food at great prices. The grill and fish cleaning station were kept clean and orderly. The staff were friendly and amicable with good knowledge of the area.

The people were so helpful whenever you needed something. They had a late check in time with a code for us, because of the late ferry times. Our housekeeper was so helpful and nice.

I feel that there are some things that could be updated. There was rust on a few things and those should be replaced.
