We have frequented this motel on and off since it opened. That was many years ago (20?) so of course there has been wear due to age. That being said, the last year or so, there has been some updating and repairs being made toward improvements. Comparatively speaking, for its age it is still one of the best places to stay in the Dalles. The staff seems to have had quite a bit of turnover, losing some of the friendlier, down home type atmosphere, which we enjoyed previously.

Quiet despite being next to highway and Fred Meyer. Bed was good and really enjoyed having a pool with the heat. Breakfast was basic but happy it was available.

For the money, there was nothing you couldn't like really. One thing would ask employees to smoke somewhere else besides next to pool area....

We loved how the staff treated us and let us check in early because we had a funeral to attend to. It wasn't noisy at all being that close to the freeway. It was very clean and comfortable. We are making this hotel our regular when we come to visit.

There wasn't anything we thought was wrong or that we didn't like.

Check in was easy and the mobi;ity access room requested was given. The room was clean and easily accessible. The TV and wifi are nice. There is a microwave and fridge. The bed is comfortable and has plenty of pillows. The room is smartly furnished and has a seating area by the sliding window. The climate control is excellent. The pool is small and there is no spa, however it is clean and the hours are flexible that fit my schedule nicely. The value at this motel for the area is outstanding, as for the cost, the only other option is motel 6 (never want to go there). The location is not as good as Hood River, but is still close to the river attractions. However, there is fred meyer and safeway right in the area, as well as a cheap gas station . I will definately return here, as the property is well managed with plenty of secure parking.

I would have scored the stay a point higher if the fridge was clean inside. It was not filthy just needed to be wiped and sanitized. Not a deal breaker.

I loved the breakfast.

The room I was in, ground floor 2 doors away from the door where people go outside to smoke. The room I was in was a non-smoking room, but the smoke from that door would waft down the hall and into the rooms. I will not stay in a room so close to the door. The non-smoking rooms should not be that close to that smoking door.

The breakfast "room" was located right off the lobby. There was not much to choose from, but we weren't expecting much and it was enough for us to get on the road again to our final destination of Vancouver, WA. It had a waffle machine, packaged cinnamon rolls, dry cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, juice and coffee is what I remember. Too many people expect way too much when traveling anymore. I can't say there wasn't anything that we didn't like. It was a warm and clean place to lay our heads down for the night so we could hit the road again in the morning. The staff was friendly and the Super 8 provided what we needed.

There wasn't a thing we disliked with our stay.

Clean lobby and dining space. Both ice machine and water fountain are suited for refilling tall travel drink cups. The staff was courteous. It did take at least 5 minutes to get guest receipt after checking out. Air conditioner was pleasantly quiet.

The room needed serious maintenance. The shower seat in handicap room was split vinyl looking grossly unsanitary..The handheld shower had no where to hang, it was slid into the safety bar. The shower curtains don't reach the floor allowing water to splash out into the bathroom. Bathroom faucet leaks constantly. Several spots of unpatched and unpainted wall damage.

We have stayed many times since it was first built. It meets our needs and the check in staff has been efficient and friendly.

Due to age the motel needs some work done on it. Some of the repairs made could have been done better.

We never use the breakfast perk.

The motel has done some updating. But after 2 years the ice machine on the main floor has not been operational or fixed. Caulking around tub, showers should be replaced. Easy check in/out always friendly service.

Breakfast was good. Waffles, cereals, hard boiled eggs, standard fare but plenty of it. The staff was friendly and helpful offering places to visit on the drive to Portland. TV had directions on how to use! Close to lots of stores and fast food places.
