We stay here often....clean, friendly staff, good location. We always request beds without hard mattresses since we prefer softer ones...and they are always very accommodating to our requests.

The ice machine on site doesn't work....knowing this, we just bring in cups of ice when we come in. You can go to the lodging next door for ice.

This quaint, older hotel has undergone a complete renovation and upgrade to bring to to industry standards. It is small, quiet, comfortable, and well-furnished. There is no pool or hot tub, but that's not a deal breaker. Nice restaurant is located next to hotel property, a short walk. The owner, Joyce, is friendly and knowledgeable of the town and surrounding area......she's native to both. Really sweet !

New Years' Eve, and although the hotel is out of mainstream local traffic, there was a lot of noise emanating from 2-3 bars and eateries. Did not keep us awake of disturb us whatsoever.

It was in close proximity to everything we wanted to see and do. It was a good price compared to other properties around the area.

It was outdated, but still well worth the price! It was clean but had a few water bugs in the unit while we were there. Some were dead, others were alive and running across the floor. The parking spot worried us because it was so close to the street and where people would be turning in. There were other parking spots a little further that we could have used though, so not a huge issue.

Locally owned property. Owner was working the desk at check in. They are in the process of updating the entire property. Entered our room and no nasty carpet!! Floors are tile that looks like wood flooring. Room smelled fresh but no chemical/cleaning product smell. Small fridge in room was retro looking in a turquoise. Microwave and coffee pot matched. Then we sat down on the bed. Oh my.....most comfortable hotel bed ever. Felt just like my daughter's Tempur-Pedic mattress. Very nice and quiet at night. Also cameras cover entire property. Will definitely be our go to for all future trips to Fredericksburg.

Nothing we didn't like

The motel is clean, safe, well appointed, and the woman working in reception was very pleasant. There is a relatively large coffee maker in the room, which came into great use in the morning, and there was a very comfortable desk (and strong Wifi) where I was able to work in the morning as well. I would certainly return if I were again in the area. Across the parking lot was also a terrific and evidently well known and well loved local diner where I had a great breakfast.

One must check in by 9pm, though otherwise there is no other problem.

The location was minutes away from the Gunshow I was participating in. The staff was exceptionally friendly. The towels were softer than some of the more expensive hotel/motels I've stayed in. They had 5 cup coffee machines rather than individual cup makers which was so much better. They provided me with extra coffee pouches with no problems.

I think they could do with a good shampoo of their carpets

The motel was a very quick drive to Main St. If the weather had been cooler, it would be walkable. I was traveling alone & I felt safe in the room (all rooms are ground level) & traveling around this area. The room was comfortable & clean which is always my main concern. It had everything I needed for my stay...mini fridge, microwave, WiFi, TV, AC, tub/shower. The front desk wasn't always staffed, but they provided a number to call if you needed anything 24/7.

Sunset Inn is a nice and quiet motel, that seems to be one of the only independent (non-chain) accommodations left. Very friendly host, clean and quaint rooms. Bed was comfortable and overall very good value for the money. The diner next door had a big line on weekends for brunch, which is a good sign (we didn’t have time to try the food).

It’s a motel, so don’t expect 4-star quality beds and amenities, but it has everything we needed for a short stay. It’s a bit of a walk to the small Main Street area of Fredericksburg.

Excellent value. While it is not the newest hotel, but care has gone into maintaining it - sheets felt clean, beds were nicely made and comfortable. Helpful staff and in a convenient location. Enjoyed our stay.

Airconditioning could not bring the room below about 76-77F in the heat (though it was definitely cooler than the ambient temperature outside - it was a warm day)

Bed was comfortable, room was clean, hotel provided toiletries. Climate control worked well and was not too noisy. Check in staff was very friendly. Decor was homey and we had an extra blanket which was nice. We left something behind and they were very helpful in returning it.

Price was higher than I would expect for this level of stay, but there was a convention in town so maybe that is why.
