The Don-Q is most certainly a rather quirky motel, complete with variable room furnishings, assorted barber chairs in the lobby & a defunct Boeing transport plane just beyond the parking lot. However, the new owners from the Gujarat area of India make a considerable effort to be helpful & to respond to questions. The indoor/outdoor pool is pleasant enough & the free breakfast, complete with do-it-yourself waffle iron is a nice way to begin the day!

The place seems in the process of transition with its new owners. Often, there is no one at the check-in desk & someone has to be summoned by phone in order to gain a room key. While I registered online & used a credit card to pay for a non-refundable room, I still had to produce a credit card + a driver's license in order to register & gain a room key, this for an 80 year old man traveling with a son & a grandchild. I asked about the former church steeple attached at the end of the building & was told that it is now locked & off-limits. It had once been a separate lodging space connected to the motel but presently there seemed a problem for it to be rented, with the town of Dodgeville resisting approval. Still, all in all, it was a memorable one night stay!

Fantastic decor (including an aircraft on the front lawn). A central fireplace made from a cheese VAT circled with barber chairs in the downstairs lounge. Games. Piano. Sports room. Pool. Lovely gardens to stroll around. Styled as an old barn. But the main plus has to be the staff who went out of their way to make the stay great. I didn't get a chance to see the "themed" rooms. Nearby attraction "the house on the rock" was one of the best places I have ever visited.

It is not often you can find nothing wrong with a hotel. Maybe the hot tub could have been cleaner. There is probably a need to update some of the facilities, but that seems to be underway.

This place is really interesting and the staff was awesome. I can't wait for some of the unavailable spaces to reopen. My family wants to go back just to stay there again.... even if that is the whole reason for us driving 4.5 hours.

The facilities are older, but I really liked our room size and the themed rooms were something to behold. With a little maintenance and a few minor updates, it would be a completely bonkers experience that one would never forget. Update, but please do not change the esthetic or atmosphere. 😀

The most unique place I ever stayed. Lobby has antique barber chairs around fireplace. Nice game room. Decent breakfast and the indoor pool and hot tub was great. There is an opening to swim under a door to the outside portion of pool. Close to huge state park and to House on the Rock . Close to town. Huge airplane om property that you can go onto. Some bird poop inside plane is positive because the birds have shelter from any harsh weather. Staff was very nice. Theme rooms and regular rooms. Coffee maker in the room. I would stay here again.

Kind staff, fun ambiance, lots of amenities. Breakfast, indoor/outdoor pool and hot tub with toys for the kids, games, spacious rooms. Very good price!

Most of the beds were great but one seemed like it needed replaced.

The room was beautiful and very spacious. The desk clerk was so nice. Definitely all positive!!

It was raining when we walked to the plane lol, but that's not the hotels fault

The Breakfast had a good selection, only disappointment is that the hot food ( gravy, eggs, sausage) was barely warm. Loved the 24/7 coffee. The room was spacious and comfortable.

Hot food wasn't very hot.

We liked the 70s look that is still going on throughout the place and different things to see including the plane outside! It was perfect to stay at Don Q Inn before seeing the House on the Rock

Nothing we did not like other than the housekeeping could use some Softscrub on the bathroom sink :)

Super clean, kitschy place. Staff was great as was the breakfast, who doesn’t like sausage biscuits and gravy! Pool and hot tub were clean and nice.

Loved the airplane and the fire inside with the barber chairs around it so cool!! The front desk guy Ty was so nice and accommodating:) will def come back !!
