This is a great peaceful place a few km outside Cat Ba, away from the noise of the town. The environment is very beautiful, immersed in the nature and close to the mountain. The bungalow is very large and clean. The family is extremely helpful and does everything to make you feel at ease. We ate there every night and the food was very good. Thanks a lot for the herbal foot bath we were offered every evening!! We recommend the boat tour they propose, it was really the highlight of the journey in Cat Ba. To move around you need a scooter that we rented directly at the homestay. We definitely recommend to stay at Trang Chau.

The homestay is situated on a quiet street a short drive from the main town, against a serene backdrop of jungle/karst formations. The individual bungalows are set in beautifully maintained gardens around a small swimming pool. Our bungalow was clean and well equipped with a comfortable bed, private bathroom with hot shower & AC unit. The owners were very welcoming and we ate several times at the homestay as well as enjoying the free breakfast. We also rented a scooter which was in decent condition for a reasonable price. We were pleasantly surprised to be offered a free herbal foot bath which was very welcome after a long hike in the national park. Very happy we stayed here over the main town, which is currently under construction.

This was our favourite homestay since being in Vietnam. Tuyen and Ni were perfect hosts and made our time so special. They went above and beyond helping us plan/ book our activities. The food is also delicious! The area is nice if you want a more remote stay away from Cat Ba town. But it's still really easy to get around via bike, Mototaxi, taxi, buses etc. Would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves returning to Cat Ba :) Another absolute bonus was the foot spa offered every evening- such a nice way to end the day especially after a long hike in the national park. They also have some pet dogs/cats and there was a newborn puppy during our stay who was very well looked after. The only criticism would be that the beds are quite firm and not that comfortable- but given how great the place is otherwise we didn't mind! Thankyou so much Tuyen and Ni!

We loved the wonderful hospitality including tea upon arrival and hot foot baths in the evenings.The staff was also extremely helpful in booking our transfers and day trips. We loved the mountain views and quiet setting. It was convenient to have a restaurant on site and the prices were very reasonable.

It was not the easiest to get around to the sites on days we hadn't booked tours. The local bus does pass nearby to bring you into the center but the schedule is not that reliable. Taxis on the island are more expensive and Grab does not work. Be prepared for some noise overnight (especially roosters and frogs). On cold nights in the winter there is no heating in the room, however, we were given a thicker comforter blanket for the bed.

Perfect location about 8min drive from Cat Ba town, away from all the construction sites. Very peaceful. It's possible to rent a scooter or a bike at the homestay to get around. Very tasty breakfast, best banana pancakes we had in Vietnam :) Comfy and clean bungalow with a small porch. There's also a small pool with clean water. We loved the complimentary herbal foot bath in the evening. Very friendly owners who make you feel like home and try their best to help you with the oranization. We booked a Lan Ha bay daytrip with them and loved it - no crowds, no self centered selfie maniacs, great guide. We also bought bus tickets for our onward travel to Hanoi directly from the homestay and the bus picked us up there, so no need to worry about the transport to Cat Ba town. We loved our stay so much that we extended it for an additional night.

The family running this homestay are absolutely lovely. They couldn’t do enough to ensure our stay was as pleasant as could be. They organised trips, bike hire, taxis, laundry, etc for us and at the end of the day presented our tired feet with hot wood foot baths. My feet have never felt so soft! The cabins are arranged around the most tranquil and beautiful gardens at the foot of the mountains. We were kept amused by the cat and kitten, chicken and chicks. The homestay was in a quiet village away from the big town, but only 5 minutes by car/scooter. The food was great too and we were even sent on our way with a little picnic.

Struggling to think of a single thing!

Beautiful garden, amazing food and great breakfast! The family are so kind and helpful. The tour we booked through them was amazing and we liked our stay so much we extended by 4 days! It is in a very quiet spot on a long road that isn’t walkable to the main town but you can rent a scooter off of the family or can have a taxi arranged for you. Very good place to stay in you love animals as there were cats, dogs and even baby chicks whilst we were there. Tuyen also makes the guests a free herbal footbath every night, so relaxing and a very kind gesture.

Tran Chau Garden Home is such a lovely place to stay, and we cant recommend it enough. The rooms are simple and nothing luxurious, but you will get world class service from this lovely family. The food is excellent, yet prices very low. They even serve you a herbal foot bath in the evening - included in this extremely fair price. They helped us book our cruise in the bay which we loved, and also transport from and to Hanoi. Everything was very professional and personal! We would definately stay here again.

The rooster is confused and crows during the night! Nothing crazy, but light sleepers should bring earplugs.

This accommodation was by far the best we experienced. The family who hosted us was incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Every evening, they thoughtfully prepared a relaxing foot bath for the guests, a gesture that added a unique touch to our stay. On our last night, they went invited us to join them for dinner. The food was absolutely delicious, and the evening was filled with wonderful moments that we'll always remember. Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations, it was truly perfect. Leaving was bittersweet, as we wished we could have stayed longer.

We stayed 2 nights in Tran Chau on Cat Ba and had an excellent stay! The hosts allowed us to check in early (around 7am), the room was clean and had excellent air conditioning. It is a tranquil place slightly out of town which we liked. Transport was no issue as they rented us one their scooters with no issues, they also washed and dried some of our clothes and helped book our onwards travel. What was nicest was that we were invited to join their family meal where we enjoyed some delicious fresh fish- getting to know the owners children and parents. As my partner was not well they cooked him a burger- highly recommend
